McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Pittsburgh South Side Ratings and Reviews
I am not able to rate the menu, prices, or food. We were seated at a table with a glass of water half filled and lip marks on it and a used fork. We waited 10 minutes for a waiter to question the situation but nobody arrived so we left. It was very dark and uncomfortable in there anyways. We went to Cheesecake Factory instead because it was close and I was very impresed.
I have been to McCormick & Schmick's for lunch and happy hour before but this was the first for dinner. So I know it's a bit on the pricey side, especially for a chain restaurant. My food was good - but really not worth the price. I ordered scallops with pork belly. For $32, I had 3 scallops. Three. And not large scallops. And the pork belly was miniscule. There were supposed to be oyster mushrooms too. I think if you put all the tiny pieces together I may have had half a mushroom total in the entire dish. My salad was average. Conversely, my husband just had fish and chips, and he said they were great. But it was also $20 for fish and French fries.... Although the food wasn't bad, it wasn't worth the price. And service was slow.
Everything was good but the hostess and server (Melinda). We arrived promptly at 2 P.M. our reservation time on Christmas Day. The hostess hurried us to our seats. She did not wait for us to take off our coats before just laying down the menu rather than HANDING the menu to us. The server laid down our check BEFORE asking us if we wanted dessert or coffee saying "no rush". Well it sure felt like we were being rushed. She did not ask how our meals were. My mom, who is elderly had cold potatoes. She never asked if we wanted any more to drink or refills on drinks. Melinda then cleans off the table, pacing back and forth all the while we were sitting there enjoying the atmosphere. All said and done from the time we arrived to the time we left was LESS THAN ONE HOUR! NO RUSH Melinda...Really? Couldn't wait to see how much your tip was? Then on to the next reservation! For the upscale reputation, fine dining experience, the hostess and server were poorly trained and certainly not appropriate for this type of dining experience.
This facility is advertised as being a McCormick and Schmick's, and displays the corporate signage, but on presentation of my rewards card at checkout, I was advised that "we are locally owned now and do not participate in the rewards program".
It seems to me that you are either McCormick and Schmick's or not! As a minimum, they should tell the customer these facts when one makes a reservation....not at checkout.
I reserved a table via iPhone, we were seated rite away, however, we did not see a server for at least 10 minutes after being seated. When the manager Chris realized there was a mix up in seating, he was very accommodating. Our server Amanda was very good and very sweet.
I ordered a filet to be done medium-well, when it arrived it was clearly very rare. I sent it back and when it came back to me, it was the same steak cut into pieces, and was CLEARLY VERY WELL DONE and difficult to chew, the manager Chris delivered it himself. At 36.00 a plate it was a disappointment. Chris was very apologetic and took the dinner off of the bill, however date night was ruined.
This was an office Christmas Party and the staff selected this venue. To say all enjoyed the service, food, ambiance would be an understatement. There were 10 of in attendance. The staff could not have been more attentive or friendly. This is the first party in 4 years (all at different venues) where there were no complaints about drinks, food, or service.
The worst food and service we have ever had at a restaurant that we have visited frequently over the years. There was less than a dozen diners at 1:00pm and the service was slow and indifferent. The order was wrong, the server was unapologetic (when she was around at all). The food was tepid and lackluster at best.
I have to say I was disappointed. I thought McCormick and Schmick' s was somewhat upscale. We had reservations, which they confirmed. We were seated right away. The waiter brought out appetizer before our drinks. The appetizer ( calamari) was under cooked. My husband's potatoes were also under cooked and greasy. My Turkey dinner was very nice. The wait times for beverages was too long considering the bar was not busy. So for the price point I was disappointed I expected better service and better quakity of food. Maybe it was an off day but considering it was Thanksgiving I would have thought they were prepared. Especially since they went to the trouble to confirm our reservation.
Our first Thanksgiving meal with this restaurant....I went ahead and made Christmas reservations after our experience. It was nice to have the option of a traditional turkey dinner, or something off the menu. We both chose a dinner off the regular menu, and really enjoyed it.
We both started with a mixed greens salad, it was simple and tasty. Very fresh and crisp, with a perfect amount of dressing. My husband had a steak, he said it was perfectly medium rare, exactly how he ordered it. I had the stuffed shrimp...it was delicious. We both ordered the mashed potatoes with Boursin and mushrooms...the ultimate comfort food! Best mashed potatoes ever. The bread was also simple but delicious...crusty and warm.
The service was excellent. We had been dining elsewhere for this holiday the past few years, but last year had a server that obviously resented working the holiday and made sure we knew it. We decided to try McCormick & Schmick's this year, and are so glad we did. Our server was pleasant, friendly, efficient, and made us feel welcome. We look forward to returning for many future holidays.
We came for Thanksgiving Day, because our family celebration was on Friday. Did not partake of the seasonal special, but ordered from the regular menu. Food was, as usual, outstanding; our waiter not only attentive, but very charming and most personable--adding to the pleasure. One observation: It was very noisy, but indicative of happy people. Did feel, as a musician myself, the music could have been eliminated--all I could hear was the bit of the bass line and the rhythm; not an enhancement of the ambiance in any way. Did learn this site no longer in the group for which I have a rewards card. No biggie--just a surprise.
I was looking forward to taking the family out for a change for thanksgiving dinner. The food was good, despite only a ketchup container of cranberry sauce. I found it surprising though that they were asking an extra $4.00 for a measly piece of pumpkin pie...what?? $27.95 for a turkey dinner and you want me to shell out another $20.00 for pie, not to mention the extra paid for beverages. I've eaten at your place in the past and then it seemed a reasonable value. Looking at your menu in general, your prices are outrageous. To be honest, you won't be seeing me anymore.... the pie thing really got me...what a con job....you people should be ashamed of yourselves.
Food was excellent and our waitstaff was extremely attentive. The only possible suggestion I might have is to change the lightbulbs in the multi-sphere lamp overhanging the bar walkway area. Several lamp glasses look like they have been burned, and for such an attractive place it stands out.
The restaurant was very cold and drafty.
We arrived at 7:30 and the waiter took our orders. But no food ever arrived. We asked twice to speak with the manager who did not bother to come over. We received bread on asking 80 minutes after asking. We left 2 hours after we arrived because we still had not been served and our waiter had disappeared.
We had a reservation but got there 15 minutes early to have a drink. The drinks were good and the bar staff was wonderful even thou it was extremely busy. Dining room was very noisy and tables too crowded. Waitress was awful. Had to ask 3 times for water and iced tea. She left us at one point for 25 minutes without even checking on us. The bread was hot and amazing. The food was average. We were a party of 5, and everyone had the same opinion. Too pricey for average food and bad service. We would go to the bar area again, but probably not for dinner.
