The waitress seemed like she did not know what she was doing. All the appetizers came out but one. It took forever for the last one to come out and when it finally did my father didn’t even get to eat it all because the waitress came and took it away when delivering his meal. My fathers meal was unbeatable. The waitress was no where to be found the entire meal. She only showed up to deliver the check. For as much as this meal was you would except great service.
We were extremely disappointed with our first experience. We traveled more than an hour from Ohio and were not impressed with our service overall. The waitress was not very accommodating or polite. Our service was average. We were informed there was a very limited choice of items from the menu, as they had sold out of most of the items from the menu. The food was also average for the price. We would not recommend this restaurant to friends, family, etc due to our experience.
Wish we would have skipped this one and went downtown. Poor service, no refills, and the waiter could not be more disinterested. College student who would rather be at the pens game but someone made him come to work on a Sunday instead. The place was probably only 20% full but it didn’t matter. Hostess was a mess - couldn’t get the table setting for eight right - seriously had a hard time counting and at first only had six, then seven and it wasn’t even my table. She was wearing a large puffer jacket and when she had to fix tables She got hot and wore it half on half off - super sloppy. Didn’t see much of the waiter until it came time for the check. French fries - no ketchup. Iced tea, no sugar. No refills at all. Food temp just warm - assuming it was waiting to find someone to bring it out to us because PJ was like a ghost. Just simple things overlooked. I recommend going to the downtown location where the service (and the food overall) is a million times better.
Waited for 15 minutes and still no server even came up to us (not even for a water). We ended up walking out because we also saw the issues other patrons were having. Would not recommend this location
Food was good, calamari was okay. Overall great experience.
Great service, amazing food & overall awesome experience! Our server was very friendly (and funny), the food came out in a timely manner for each course. Overall great time & we will definitely be back!
My order had to be returned 4 times for being wrong. 1st time for allergent left on the plate, 2nd time steak was burnt, 3rd time came with the allergent in the plate again, then 4th time it was ice cold. We were there for almost 2 hours and the only thing I ate was the soup. Horrible experience and the mangers were just as bad.
The food was great!!! Nice atmosphere. & our waiter was awesome!
Excellent food and service! Our waitress was attentive to our needs, providing outstanding service. We were greeted immediately and felt welcomed. Our meals were exceptional! We would recommend McCormick & Schmick, Pittsburgh South Side!
We had a great experience, Service was very attentive. Food was great. Did not care for the TV on in the background.
It was valentines day and my wife's birthday. Made for a great night out to celebrate,
We were seated right next to the kitchen/dishwasher so it was very loud. Food definitely was not worth the money. Beef wellington was tough despite being cooked rare. The steak knife they gave me was dull and just tore at the meat. The lobster bisque was quite cold when it got to the table. The vegetable sides were underseasoned and the mashed potatoes were definitely not soft. The server was decent. Probably won't be coming back.
We have been at this restaurant on Pittsburgh South Side for lunch or dinner many times.
For Valentin dinner a special menu was available.
My friend had broiled salmon. Excellent.
I had steak with lobster tail. Excellent.
We shared ice cream with fresh strawberry and strawberry sauce.
The service was excellent.
Excellent house chardonnay.
We did not come and wait in the bar, but it was a lively place with a musician.
Very pleased with everything.
The steak is unbelievable. Great service, beautiful atmosphere.
treated us extremely well......allowed us to substitute the silk pie for the one dessert they did not have which was part of their share steak special.......felt really comfortable there.....
Took parents out for a special dinner. Should have gone somewhere else. We were greated by a piano player only a mother could love. It was so loud! Most tables were empty and we pointed out the ones far from the music. Request denied! Seriously. They were “reserved.” It was frustrating to see them stay empty the whole evening. Food was expensive but bland. Our waiter was good but he was working with dry clay. Microwaved fish. Undercooked sides. Who knows if those were really 3 kinds of oysters - they all seemed the same. No way to talk over the music. Learn from my mistake. There is much better in Pittsburgh and a reason this place is always available on Open Table.
Everything was exceptional my wife and me a lunch there. A good value for what we had. Love the fish shrimp lunch special
The restaurant seemed under staffed. It took a long time to get our drinks. Two of us ordered the fish and it was not prospered well. I ordered the Hawaiian Steak rib-eye medium well and it came out rare. The waiter took it back so my guests ate their food while I waited 15 minutes for mine and then it was over cooked. Three of us had stomach issues after we got home and into the next day.
Food ok’ish. Great salad (Kale, Argula) but disappointing dessert (apple nuts pie), by the way not at all looking like the photo on the menu.
Lack of attention of the service. I waited for a knife trying to make eye contact with manager who was talking to a table next to mine, since I wanted to eat my main course. After 5 min, seeing that my entree was getting cold, I just took a knife on another table. When the waiter showed up, I simply told him that I had taken a knife at another table. He looked at the table, shrugged his shoulders and mechanically said “sorry” before walking away (not even adding a knife back to the other table)....
McCormick and Schmick’s is not nearly as good as it used to be. Food was okay. Service was less than expected. Not worth the prices any more.
Food and service were both good. Only disapointment was in the portion size. My wife had the Salmon Pesto Rigatoni and said there was hardly any Salmon included. I had the Blacked Mahi Mahi which tasted good but again was a little surprised at the portion I received.
Our server George was wonderful! We celebrated three birthdays and they couldn’t be more accommodating.
We always enjoy dining at McCormick and Schmick’s. Josh was our server last night and he was both professional and welcoming. The music at the bar was a little bit loud which is the reason for the low rating on the noise level
I have had mixed experiences at this restaurant in the past but this time was excellent. The service was amazing, very friendly and quick. Food was on point, everything was delicious and came out of the kitchen hot.
The staff was very nice the food was good as well .This is my second time visting this restaurant we drove down from Columbus Ohio. This will definitely always be my stop for dinner.
My husband and I went here for date night. The food was delicious, and our waiter was on point!
Food, service, atmosphere was all great! This is my favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. Chef Phil is the best around! Highly recommend and you also cannot leave without trying on or two of those pleasing to both the eye and the pallet desserts! If you have tried this place, put it at the top of your list.
Nice dinner spot, a better option from the crowded Cheesecake Factory. Our waiter was nice and attentive, but very busy. Foos tasted great, minus the asparagus, which was tough.
Went on a Saturday night during restaurant week. Pros -- food was very good. We chose from the Restaurant Week menu -- standouts were swordfish and coconut shrimp but all was good. Cons -- Server rushed us like I've never been rushed before. I literally had my fork in the food on the plate and he asked me if I was done. I finally said to him "slow down." Don't know if this was him or the way he was trained. He was also soft spoken and was difficult to hear him due to the next item on my list -- the music. They had a gentleman playing the keyboard and singing in the bar area. Even though we were halfway back in the restaurant, the vocals were very loud and off key. I think it would have been very nice if he had just played his keyboard and turned the volume down.
Attended a family dinner on Saturday Jan. 18, 2020. Parking was convenient across the street.
I new it was going to be a questionable evening when we came through the door. They had a singer playing an electric keyboard and singing at the top of his voice. Music was "MUCH" too loud for quiet dinner. I asked hostess to seat us as far from the noise as possible and politely asked them to have the noise level reduced. The seven (7) of us were crowded into a table. Service was slow and it took forever to have drinks served.
Again, I asked the wait staff if they could have the music/singing lever sound reduced. No luck.
Dinner orders were taken, I had the Crab Cakes, they were a bit disappointing in flavor but they were warm compared to my barely warm Green Beans and Orzo.
This was not an inexpensive dinner and I expected better service and a quieter evening with my family. You had to yell to have a conversation above the noise level.
It will be a long time before I have dinner again at McCormick & Schmick's in Pittsburgh.
Loved it there. The only gripe we had was that the piano singer was a little loud. Because of that we requested a table in the back. Even though we were in the very back it was a little difficult to hear conversation. Background music is great didnt need to be that loud!
The service was extremely slow even though there were only 6 active tables in the entire restaurant. We were never offered a beverage other than water and my husband's order was incorrect. The food was okay, but certainly not outstanding.
We had a reservation at 8 pm, and we didn't get greeted by a host until 8:20. There were 4 other groups standing around the host stand with us, while no one acknowledged we were there. Once a host did talk to us, we were made to wait even though we had a reservation. When we ordered, we went for restaurant week and the kitchen was out of half of the items they offered. Food was fine, not spectacular, not awful. But it's definitely not good enough to be listed at the prices on the menu.
My sister and I decided to try here for Restaurant Week. The special menu was only given to us after we asked. Our meals were good. A dessert was included which was creme brûlée or a chocolate mousse type. Our reservation was for 5:30 and already the creme brûlée was unavailable. I did not enjoy the alternate dessert so I was disappointed in that.
Server very nice and polite but forgetful- had to ask for bread and spoons multiple times - delicious food geeat atmosphere
Great place to go for some delicious seafood!
Business lunch and everyone enjoyed their meal, service was excellent and a very nice selection on the menu to please most everyone.
The service was great and the food was excellent. Went to this location to celebrate my cousin's birthday and was not disappointed with the location.
Very loud and over priced, but it was nice. Complimentary dessert for my husband's birthday was also nice and unexpected.
The food was amazing ! It took us 10 minutes to get water in our glasses . Our server walked over said hey You know what you want to drink are you ready to order ? Never greeted . Had several empty glasses during dinner . Was never checked on . When being out on a nice dinner with my husband the service made our trip a not satisfied one
