McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Pittsburgh Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Very disappointed. We went there to celebrate my birthday. It took forever for our server to arrive, then forever for her to bring our drinks. We had to ask several times for bread. My husband’s order was wrong, so he had to wait longer. The server mentioned nothing about my birthday. The host brought the menu rolled up in ribbon. We received no credit for the poor service and nothing for birthday but menu. I won’t be going back.
Four of us went to M&S's recently. Our waiter was polite and professional but not all that friendly. Our food was a mixed bag. One person had beef medallions. They were good but more sauce was needed. I had salmon which was very good but the risotto was not. My husband had the seafood trio - two of the three were very good but shrimp was overcooked.
Wow, what a great meal. I had the sesame crusted salmon with the pancetta, mushroom risotto. Wow, that was an excellent meal. The waiter suggested an excellent Pinot noire to pair with the meal. From the hostess to the waiter to the manager they were all friendly and service oriented. Can’t wait to go back!
Cedar planked salmon was sent back not once, but twice because it was undercooked. The first time it was just warm and undercooked, second time, hot and undercooked. It was not flaky as it should be, but mostly raw. The waitress agreed and was very apologetic, particularly since the other person by this point had finished their meal. We were sent home with a third salmon dinner, which was cooked properly this time. Not sure what the problem was, but it put a damper on the whole dining experience.
Very disappointing. Caesar salad excellent but trout very dry and unappetizing . Clam chowder and shrimp scampi ok but nothing to write home about. Before we were ready to leave a group of about 25 were seated next to us and making so much noise we had to quickly vacate. Not a pleasant dining experience .
The restaurant is presented as upscale, but in fact it has the feeling of a chain. The ambiance, quality of the food, and service do not merit the price. The menu is limited, and most options are prepared with complex seasoning rather than simply prepared, relying on the quality of the fish. Staff is young, inexperienced, and not genuine. One has the impression they are playing a part.
Better than the nearby establishments. Value is not the best, but it’s historical reputation gives it some leeway. Generally, food was not notable, but certainly edible. Been at this chain many times though it’s been a long time since this particular restaurant. Expectations not completely met but maybe I was too impressed by its other locations.
Another great visit to the Downtown Pittsburgh McCormick and Schmicks! We were early for our reservation, but they still sat us and got our meal off and running. Our waiter Tim (Timothy) was amazing. Great service, great conversationalist, a true ambassador for the restaurant. I’m already a Landrys Club member, but hearing him get another table to sign up was a sight. Many people that came in knew him. Our food was great from Lobster Bisque, to shrimp scampi, blackened chicken fettuccine, fish an chips, and our amazing Upside Dowb Apple pie dessert!! Great event!
The food was excellent but the service less than average. The server ordered a wrong entree for my friend. When confronted, he insisted that was what she ordered. She ate the entree, a much more expensive one than she ordered. (Should this occur again we will complain to the hostess, a lesson learned.) DrOur iced tea glasses were not refilled and he inquired about our dinners once only in passing. The young lady who refilled our ice tea glasses and took the dessert order was personable as well as professional. We wished that she had been our server.
It was our anniversary. We were in Pittsburgh from Indianapolis. The night could not have been better! Our waitress, Erin was the best. Everything she recommended was on point. Food was excellent. It was a special night for us and that is how we were treated.
