Service was quite slow. Took nearly 30 minutes to get appetizers of soup and a salad. Then when dinner came (after another long wait) the steak one got was cool to cold and my fish was undercooked. Then took nearly 10 minutes to get waitresses attention (she was talking one table over and ignoring us).
Just a very poor performance all around
Great lunch spot. Very nice soup and salad, in a good setting.
Very good food n service!
My birthday
Our sever,Alexander, was outstanding! He made the dinner so much more enjoyable with his knowledge and enthusiasm,
We had a great time with our eight-year-old granddaughter whose birthday we were celebrating. Our server Rick was great. He was accommodating, friendly, and always responded to our needs.
Once again another great meal. We try to stop when we are in the area.
I love McCormick & Schmick's & have never had a bad experience in any other city...this was my first time dining at the location in Philadelphia...here on business. Unfortunately, our waiter was not good...bad enough that he was very slow, inattentive, & we had to ask for things multiple times...but the worst part was his rude, arrogant attitude. The rest of our table of four was upset from early on, but I kept giving him the benefit of the doubt. However, that changed midway through...I ordered a second glass of wine, & while pouring it into my glass from the little carafe, he spilled so much that it left an 8" round red wet spot on the white tablecloth...he never brought any extra back to me...okay, not happy, but still trying to be positive, even though the wine was not cheap. I had ordered a couple of appetizers for dinner...the Ahi Seared Tuna was inedible & really gristly...I am a huge sushi & Ahi Tuna fan, but have unfortunately had a better grade at cheaper restaurants. I ate two of the six bite-sized pieces ($15) & had to take the gristle out of my mouth for those two. The waiter never came back to check on us until everyone was finished eating...I asked him to take the rest of my tuna & explained what was wrong. He got arrogant & told me 'that's because its seared'...I told him that I have had Ahi Tuna a hundred times & that this was bad tuna. Just a really bad experience for our whole table...I should have immediately called the manager over, but didn't want to make a scene...however, the more I think about the entire scenario, the more it bothers me...the restaurant is only about two blocks from my hotel, so I may walk back over tomorrow to speak to the manager...management would probably want to be aware of this man's attitude. On a positive note, my Lobster Bisque & 10 Greens Chopped Salad were delicious!!!
Good food and great service as always.
Everything started off great, with delicious, fresh oysters, hand-crafted cocktails, and delicious salads. But, sadly, two entrees were a huge disappointment. We ordered the Chef's Special, a macadamia-crusted halibut that the waiter boasted was the only fresh halibut available in Philadelphia this early in the season. The fish was extremely overdone, dry, unseasoned and tasteless. There was a pepper sauce to supposedly compliment the fish that had no taste whatsoever (and was skimpy in quantity anyway). The dish was so bad, that we would have sent it back, but our waiter never came to the table to see how our meals had turned out and could not be found. We were on a time deadline because of attending a show at 8:00 p.m. What a waste of $39 per person! I love M&S's menu, but I would probably never go back. Very disappointing!
We were celebrating our 45th anniversary. Food and service were excellent. Prices are reasonable for the neighborhood. Close to the Kimmel Center, where we were attending a concert afterwards.
Beautiful restaurant. Wonderful service. A bit pricey but the food was good.
First glass of Chardonnay was warm. I sent it back. Waitress brought me another warm glass of Chardonnay. I had to send that back. My wife’s scallops were very good. The swordfish I ordered was bad. I believe it was past it’s prime. Roasted brussel spouts were hard as a rock. Never again.
Great lunch. Lots of selections of fish, salads, other options.
We decided to try McCormick & Schmick for dinner before a Philadelphia Orchestra concert and were not disappointed. The choices were varied; we decided to share a Caesar salad, mussels, and the flounder. All were served promptly, provided plenty of food, and were delicious. We will certainly go again.
Excellent seafood! entrees and Appetizers… Did not try any of the beef options. The salmon was fresh and nicely prepared, and the crab cakes were absolutely outstanding and served with a good combo of vegetables and starch. Service was prompt and efficient, but not particularly warm and friendly. Location is great, right across from City Hall on South Broad convenient to Theaters, Academy of Music, Kimmel Center...
No plain choices. A fish restaurant should offer made to order fish, salad and vegetables that can be tweaked - not already breaded, coated prepped production choices. Food was meh and expensive. Won’t return
Food was tasty, service excellent, prices were acceptable. The salmon was tasty but a smallish portion. Everything else was just right. I would definitely return when in Philly and looking for seafood. The steaks looked good, although our group did not order.
Girls night out...food was great!
Ran out of the signature dessert but the Apple pie made up for it!
The meal and service were unbelievable! The shrimp kisses were one of the best things we’ve ever eaten! We were blown away by the attention to deal there - the personalized menus for our anniversary were such a special touch! Our server, Dante was amazing! He gave fabulous suggestions and was attentive without being overbearing! We can’t wait to come back!!!
Prices are high for what is provided. Food is ok but portions are small. They are charging prices like an upscale restaurant and they are not one.
I hadn't been to McCormick & Schmick's in several years, but it was just as I remembered it. The food was excellent, the dining room comfortable, and the service was exquisite.
Our waiter Rick was a real gem. When we were ordering I mentioned that my husband is Muslim so we'd appreciate him warning us off anything with bacon or pork. Later, when I was eating my soup, I went to offer my husband a spoonful, and Rick quietly zoomed over, and whispered, that has bacon in it. He was very quiet and unobtrusive, but I think if he thought he had to knock the spoon out of my hand he would have. Now that's great service!
Our dining experience for a birthday celebration was very pleasant from the nice header on the menu wishing me a Happy Birthday to the attentive waiter, delicious meal, and surprise dessert with a birthday candle.
Had dinner pre-theater. Service was stellar! Entrees were nothing special; not great, but not bad, and portions were small. The creme brûlée was exceptional. My last visit to M & S was at their Baltimore location many years ago. I remember it being a wonderful meal. This visit was NOT memorable, at least not in regards to the food.
It was a great meal and provided an atmosphere with an old friend. It was a time to share and the meal and service was stellar. Equally, we arrived 20 minutes later due to Philly traffic but still were seated upon arrival. I plan to return.
Food is very good; staff is efficient; prices reasonable for downtown Philly.
Excellent meal, wine and atmosphere. Very nice eveningwith my guests. No complaonts!
It was my daughter's and her husband anniversary. They made them feel special.
The food was good but my daughter got a filet and added a lobster tail. When the waiter brought the food it looked like a childs plate. The portion for the price was ridiculous! The lobster tail looked like a large shrimp! It cost around $49 and definitely wasn't worth it. I liked the restaurant but would not ever recommend getting the filet and lobster.
Everything was great wish i remembered the waitress name she was Amazing, very helpful with outstanding customer service.
Small portions for the price. Quality was fair but not for the price. Many choices close by with better quality.
I had a great time. Took my father there for his birthday. When I made the reservation I noted that it was for a birthday. When they seated us they gave us customized menus wishing a happy birthday to my dad. The food was excellent and it server was very nice and knowledgeable. I will definitely be returning.
Delicious as always! McCormick has become a bit of a staple for us, and with good reason. The onion mashed potatoes were out of this world, all of our steaks were cooked to perfection, and the staff was attentive all night. They also offer coravin wine pours by the glass, which is greatly appreciated. Thanks for another great meal!
We had tickets for a play and this is our favorite before theater restaurant. Always good and always good service.
I have visited this chain in several locations in the country. The menu was good as was the ambiance. The service was very slow. It took an hour for the entree to come out. When served you could tell it sat for too long before making it to our table after being cooked. Server was very inattentive. Asked for refills on coffee and was given the check instead. Overall a real disappointment as I had chose this restaurant based on previous experiences with the chain.
We had a great experience.
Our Server Rick was great!
Generally we avoid chain restaurants for our Philadelphia dinners, but we would try M&S again. The menu was interesting and the salad, entrees, and desserts were well-prepared and presented. We were given a booth away from the pass which allowed us to have conversation at normal volume. Our server appeared when needed and was helpful. Unfortunately, the kitchen competed our entrees before we had finished the salad course which might have been forgiven if the room were full, but the evening rush had not yet begun.
We had lunch with a long-time friend. The food was not very appetizing, it lacked imagination.
So glad we chose this restaurant for our one night in Philadelphia. Great food and equally great service. We'll be back.........
