McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Our 8 pm reservation resulted in us sitting down at 830pm without even so much as a polite update. It seems like if you go here your expected to sit at least a half an hour after your reservation time. Once seated we were served by a very friendly English server. However his friendliness was overcome by the 70 minute wait for our dinner. We were told not less than three times that our dinner was being plated yet we waited 30 minutes after that. The excuse was that there were large parties ahead of us. That excuse was given despite the restaurant being less than 50% Capacity. Obviously when food is served that late , your appetite for it is diminished. And our waiter went overboard in trying to make up for the poor service to the point of it being obvious he was trying to just save his tip. The culmination action of the night came when we left and I mentioned to the manager that we has to wait for 70 minutes for our meal and his response was “ yes sir, we have very bad service here”. My advice is for everyone to stay away from this train wreck unless they have three hours to spare.
Enjoyed a great lunch with colleagues. Portions were perfect and the food was superb. Staff and waitress were great, excellent service provided. Even went for the dessert. The upside apple Carmel pie included a scoop of cinnamon ice cream. Also tried the chocolate bag. A little tough breaking up the bag but yummy filling inside of the bag.
We arrived for dinner at 5 pm on a Sunday. We were. Disappointed that we were told that the chocolate bag dessert was not available because they ran out. When we were leaving the next table was enjoying the chocolate bag dessert, so it appears our waitress was given bad information. I blame the kitchen not the waitress for this.
A busy Saturday night, but it was later in the evening and the crowd was starting to thin out a bit. The service was ok, but not at all at the level that's expected for a place like this.
Our food, which took a very long time, came out very dry and not super hot. So I'm guessing it sat under a heat lamp for a bit too long.
Maybe it was an off night, but I was overall pretty disappointed for a place that used to be truly top notch.
McCormick & Schmick's Seafood has always been a favorite stop-off in Philadelphia for us so I am sad to report what will have been our last meal there. As appetizer the char-grilled octopus was fine, no problem, and my partner likewise enjoyed a mixed salad, although both portions seemed somewhat smaller than we had anticipated. For entrées we shared what was supposed to be a prime Rib Eye steak but the meat itself was not soft as expected and there was a lot of edge fat to cut away. However, the real disappointment came from what was advertised as "Genuine Lump Crab Cakes". We checked with the waiter who assured us the crab cakes were mostly all lump crab with very little filler. I guess that is what they are told to tell people. However, in truth, the two crab cakes that came as our entree gave me indigestion. There was a bit of lump crab along the outside covering but the main body seemed to be a mix of broken-apart pieces of crab with a mashed potato or bread center to bind it all together. Very disappointing and discouraging. We will not return again.
This was an important business dinner and although the food was good, unfortunately the service was not. We ordered soup and waiter came out with 2 out of the 3 ordered and the other 1 had to wait at least 10 mins; the 4th party in the group had to wait for his appetizer for another 10 mins thereafter. Later for coffee, I had to go look for our waiter because he was nowhere to be found. Disappointing.
We had a lovely dinner at McCormick and Schmick's on a quiet Monday evening. The service was great, and we enjoyed our food. I thought the portions was a little small on the crab cake appetizer and the cup of soup. Location is hard to beat, after dinner we walked right over to City Hall for the Christmas light show!
Service was awful. It took the waiter almost 20 mins to take our order, and when he did it was extremely rushed. Our drink order took almost 30 mins from the time we sat down. Our food was late to the table, my order was wrong, and my wife and daughter’s food were cold. He took all the plates away. My wife and daughter’s plates were the originals, just thrown in a microwave or under a heat lamp. Mine looked liked they just scraped off the onion Aioli, slapped on another slice of cheese and served it again. I asked him if they did exactly that, and he said no, they don’t do that there. It was evident that was exactly what they did. Also, no manager ever came and commented on the mix up, which is what you’d expect when you’re paying $50 a person before the tip. I’m not sure I could recommend M&S to a friend. I know it will be a while before I ever go back.
Service was horrible, which ruined an otherwise good meal. Server was all about selling and not about service. Drink order was wrong. Meat tempature was wrong, ordered well done filet and got medium rare. Kitchen did not make a new entree but just cooked it longer leaving it tough. Other tables had menu explained to them, not us. Water was not refilled. This was not the fine dining experience I expected.
Went for our third year in a row thanksgiving dinner. The service was excellent, however waiting for dinner took an hour and a half and when it came we had two adult servings and 2 child servings. This would have been fine, but we were charged for all adult servings. Good was excellent as usual. Only fault was the adult vs. Child issue.
We made a reservation for 6 and arrived on time. We were seated immediately but there was a miscommunication between the waitstaff and 45 minutes later we were waited on. The manager did his best to apologize and make things right. The food was excellent and serving sizes were on point along with the visual display of all dishes. I would definitely go back.
Great service. Fall shaved vegetable salad was excellent. My wife got the organic salmon and it was excellent. Highly recommend. I got the Pistachio Chilean Sea Bass, and it was little rubbery, though the sides were good. Warm bread was good too. I did leave a little hungry though, and had to eat extra food after.
We were here for a pre-race meal with the Philly half marathon the next morning. Dante was fabulous in accommodating my requests. I had the grilled salmon with orzo and my husband had the scallops. Everything was prepared to our satisfaction and the service was great.
Had a wonderful experience. Made reservations for dinner. The walk from our hotel took less time than expected. Arrived 30 minutes early, no problem, was seated right away. The waiter was very helpful and nice, plus knowledgeable about dishes on menu. The food was served in an appropriate time frame and was delicious. The food was fresh, and great combination of seasonal food with different entrees. Upon leaving, the host asked if we had an enjoyable dining experience, we replied yes. He then asked if they had met our expectations. Our reply again was yes. He then thanked us with a follow-up of; hope you have an enjoyable walk back to your hotel, and that we can provide you with another pleasurable dining experience while you are here visiting.
