Excellent from start to finish. The mussels we had as starters were fresh and delicious, the steak and scampi fantastic and the chocolate cake for dessert is sinfully good.
We were very disappointed at what had previously been one of our favorite restaurants. Slow and indifferent service, food arriving cold. They served some of our beverages in paper cups, as they had "run out" of glasses. The waitress was invisible for long periods of time, as we waited for bread, never refilled, water, never refilled, and food. I left my minimum tip of 15% percent, and hoped the waitress questioned it, so I could say - we got minimal service, but she didn't even pick up the check though we stayed around for 10 minutes afterward, talking.
The fish was very good, fresh and properly cooked, not overdone. Service was a little slow especially considering there were few diners but the waiter comped us with mini-shrimp-cocktails so that made up for it.
We frequent this restaurant while in Philadelphia because the food is consistently good. Nothing that foodies are going to rave about but always a good meal. This trip came with a bit of confusion with our M&S membership card but when reminded they applied our meal points to our account. (The card is like a frequent flyer card - that should tell you how many times we have been there) I LOVE the fact that they have a childrens menu with food that our kids will eat. We take our children everywhere we go and appreciate places that welcome them with a kids menu. If you are looking for a special dinner place, ask for a private room up stairs, otherwise it can be a little noisy in the main dinning room on a Sat. night.
Server was very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious, and just large enough portions to fill us. Atmosphere was friendly, although it was a little bit noisy.
Food was only OK. The crab cake certainly had a great proportion of crab meat, but the bottom was slightly burned. The mushroom/cheese cod didn't really have much flavor. The large dining room was bustling and didn't really allow for an intimate dining experience.
I took my family here as a no-risk chain restaurant, but there are certainly more interesting restaurants in Philly.
All in all the total experience was excellent.
Three of us dined here prior to a performance and had a very pleasant experience. The setting is quite handsome with high ceilings, chandeliers, tall windows, and lots of wood trim. Our server clearly explained the menu choices, was attentive and professional. Our entrees were most enjoyable. The mahi-mahi daily catch was simply prepared...moist, tender, and freshly flavored. The fish and chips were excellent with a delicious crust and succulent interior. The scallops were accompanied by freshly steamed spinach. The combination specials are a good value and quite tasty.
I have been here once before and they didn't disappoint the second time. The food was delicious. Seafood over cooked taste terrible, but every plate we got was perfectly done. The service was great too. Our waitress was awesome and never forgot about us (we had to catch the train and she made sure we got our desserts quick enough so we could enjoy them before running out the door.) Overall, we had a great time and I can't wait to go back.
Very enjoyable dinner. Food was excellent, service was great.
Consitent superior food, and oustanding service.
Food was Top Notch. Service was Excellent. Can't wait to eat here again!
Well I made a Reservation the night before for a 6:30pm arrival. My Family (4 of us) were
taking my son our for his 29th birthday! We arrived a little early (about 6pm). We were seated right away! We were given out menu's and to our delite the menu's were printed to say "Happy 29th Birthday to my son"! That was GREAT! The pace was slow (I like)! The Food was very good, but a little bit pricey!
The historic building in center city Philadelphia is wonderfully appointed. The dark wood walls make the food taste even better. The location is extremely convenient to all of the in town theaters.
Fresh seafood cooked perfectly with great presentation. My wife and I have dined at McCormick and Schmicks at various locations and have come to know the establishment as a reliable place to enjoy fresh, quality, perfectly prepared seafood. This was our first trip to the Philadelphia location and the streak remains intact. Just a great place! Returning to Philly on business in November and we will certainly
we had to wait over 30 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation. the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed when we arrived
Reservation was for 7:00 PM. Seated at 7:30. First order taken at 8:00. Waitress brought five glasses of water for six people. Had to ask for bread. Appetizers came at 8:30. Main courses came at 9:15, two orders were wrong. Took a half-hour go get a bottle of wine. Took 15 minutes get get a water glass refilled. Nuff said. When it came, food was good. We have eaten at M&S in lots of cities, but this was the worst servie ever.
I love this restaurant. Everytime I go I am completely satisfied.
After going to lunch there, I remembere dwhy I dont eat there on a regular basis - The food was ordinary i.e. no taste and the service was poor. We were three for lunch and asked for spoons. The server- Josh - who had the personality of wood, brought us A spoon - There are so many better places to go for a $25.00 lunch
I have dined at this restaurant many times and each time the service and food is outstanding. Cannot wait for my next dining experience
My husband loved his oysters. His grilled trout was perfectly cooked. My crab cake had a little too much filler and the seasoning overwhelmed the taste of the crab. Parmesan on the caesar salad had no flavor at all, wondered if it was parmesan. Chocolate cake was great. I had a glass of Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay, it was very flat, wondered how long the bottle had been open.
They were very accommodating to special requests. Very good setting for working lunches (for parties of four or less) in upstairs booths. Menu caters to either beef or seafood - both very good. Not many options should you want something else.
Food was very good but the service was far from was was to be expected. Good food and poor service don't mix well together.
Atmosphere and dinner was great but the waiter (Justin) gave us very poor service, he needed to be flag down a number of time for service, he brought out the wrong dish for my wife, he was ask to place my grandson meal in a dog bag he forgot and threw it away, this upset my grandson. I properly will not be visiting McCormick & Schmick in Philadelphia again!
A restaurant that you can always rely on no matter which city
I reserved dinner for six for my sister's 25th Anniversary. My other sister and I arrived and sat in the bar at 5:50. The server came after 6:00 and advised that she could not honor the Happy Hour items. We replied that we were there before six and that they should be honored and requested to speak to the Manager. The Manager came over and when we explained the situation, the first thing she said was, "This means I'll have to argue with the kitchen." When we further expressed that we felt that the Happy Hour Items should be honored, she replied, "I'll ALLOW it this time." She spoke us like children attempting to get away with something. We ended up spending $600+ plus for dinner, but I will visit your restaurant and advise all friends
Poor Poor Poor table management. Many serving issues - too many to list. The only saving grace is that the manager was very understanding and picked up the entire tab - appetizers, salads, entres, dessert, coffee, bar tab. I will give them another shot - just an off night for the restaurant.
We had a wonderful dinner and the staff was wonderful with our 2 year old as well keeping him interested and excited to allow for a relaxing and not rushed meal. The best tuna steak i have ever had.
Wow -- this was our first time at a McCormick & Schmick's. What a wonderful surprise. We got seated in something that looked like a private room for four. Loved it! The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. We found the price very reasonable given the quality of the food and upscale surroundings. We'll be back!
Although the food was good, the menu didn't a great variety. There were a lot of items on the menu, but nothing sounded really special to order
Great food and service. Nothing negative to say
I had the lobster bisque at the recommendation of our server. It was excellent, but I warn you it is rich! I had the sea bass and it was cooked perfectly and tasted teriffic. Our server was very friendly and knew what to recommend.
We were there for restaurant week and for $35 the food they offered was great. We have been there before on other occasions.
Good value for Restaurant week. Fair choices
Great place to eat. The service was outstanding and the food was great. Although we were very under dressed for a place like this which is why I think they placed us in the corner away from everyone else. Was a little pricey especially for it being restaurant week, overall it was a great time.
I am a fan of M&S but was very disappointed this visit. The restaurant seemed to be in need of updating and it looked sloppy. There seemed to be a leak in the ceiling (it was there last week and should have been fixed) and some type of portable duct work was evident in the bar. I asked for a quiet table and was taken upstairs to a great, private table over looking the main room--but the carpet needed vacuuming and the elevator was out of service- it has been for awhile!!! And I felt the food was just ok--not up to M&S usual quality.
I thought they were a little "off" when I went for lunch...
We really enjoyed our dinner there last Thursday. While the crab cakes wewe decent, the chowder, lobster bisque, cod, sea bass, and apple pie were awesome. We'll definitely go again next time we are in Philly
I really loved the atmosphere and the service. The food and the drinks were great.
The food was delicious and the service was great. I enjoyed my shrimp and Mahi-Mahi. I will definitely be patronizing McCormick & Schmick's very soon.
