McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful experience. Made reservations for dinner. The walk from our hotel took less time than expected. Arrived 30 minutes early, no problem, was seated right away. The waiter was very helpful and nice, plus knowledgeable about dishes on menu. The food was served in an appropriate time frame and was delicious. The food was fresh, and great combination of seasonal food with different entrees. Upon leaving, the host asked if we had an enjoyable dining experience, we replied yes. He then asked if they had met our expectations. Our reply again was yes. He then thanked us with a follow-up of; hope you have an enjoyable walk back to your hotel, and that we can provide you with another pleasurable dining experience while you are here visiting.
My boyfriend and I made a reservation here for our anniversary. We ordered the oysters as an appetizer. These were fresh and delicious. I ordered the crab and shrimp stuffed salmon and my boyfriend ordered the flounder. Drinks were amazing, as well. Beautiful atmosphere!
I was visiting my daughter at Temple University, and we decided to have dinner at a nice restaurant before I returned home. We chose McCormick & Schmick's because of the good reviews on OpenTable.
We were seated quickly. Carol, our waitress, was very friendly and attentive. My daughter had a salad and the American Kobe Style Burger with fries. I had soup and the Seafood Trio. The soup and salad were delivered very quickly, and Carol brought the main course as soon as we finished the first. Carol came back regularly to see if we needed anything. She was very nice!
All in all, it was a fine dining experience, and made me feel better about dropping my daughter off at her dorm before my long trip home.
My husband and I are on a quest to find the "best" high end steakhouse option in the Philly area. Having plans to catch a show at the Merriam left us with the perfect opportunity to check out McCormick & Schmick's. Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner, in spite of it being more crowded and noisier than we expected. I think they were having a dining event for Veterans, so the place was packed. Our server (I think Ryan?) was excellent, and checked often enough that he was available, but not so often that he was intrusive. The food was excellent, if just a tad too salty (steaks) for our personal tastes, but still quite good. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine with our dinner, and just as a note for the future, please leave the cork on the table (mostly because we save them, but it is a point of presentation when opening a bottle of wine.) Also, if the lady orders the bottle of wine, it is customary to have her taste the wine. These might seem like minor points/gripes, and they are, but points of service are pretty standard. The only real shocking eye opening moment was when the food runner came to the table, and literally threw down our plates...my husband's grilled tomato nearly slid off the plate. We had finished our salads and set them aside to make room for our entrees, yet she failed to clear the salad dishes, and we were left sitting at the table with steaks, but no steak knives, and we couldn't even ask her for a few because she was off like a shot. Ryan was there very quickly with the needed knives however, so it wasn't an issue. All in all, the food was excellent and cooked to proper temperatures. They have a nicely sized wine list with selections in all price ranges. Maybe on a quieter night we'd have had a better overall experience--Ryan really was on point. It wasn't a bad meal necessarily, but it didn't leave us with an exceptional impression either. They do steaks well, as they should.
Was there with my sons and girlfriend for dinner. The service was good. I order the trout, unfortunately it came out late, and was very dry and flavorless. My son order the Salmon with asparagus and beets, it came out with string beans and mashed potato's. Being it was already late coming out, (the waiter came out and apologized, and took our order again) and said would bring out some appetizer's on the house, he came back with hummus, and two of us do not eat hummus. When the dinner finally arrived, I took two bites of my dinner, and pushed the plate away. My son had about half of his Salmon and quit. Been here many times with vendors from the office, this was by far the worst. Unfortunately I will not be coming back. Just made reservations to Del Frisco's, I never had a bad meal at Del Frisco's.
My server Nichole was great. She was very knowledgeable and tentative with a great friendly attitude willing to support. Our dinner was delicious and filling. We can't wait until our next visit. Great group of people looked very happy enjoying their meal. Looking forward to our next visit.
I brought 2 friends who were veterans for dinner, they were treated with respect and thought they had great service which was not rushed. Meals were well cooked and had a good presentation. The apple pie dessert was to die for. Our waiter who was quite busy with other large tables was as attentive as he could be. I have not been here before but we all agreed that we would come back for a regular lunch or dinner.
Our server (Mark) was exceptional! I had the lobster bisque and it was delicious! Best I've ever had. I was also able to get a small dish of their Shrimp & Andouille Mac & Cheese. Out of this world !!! My dinner, albeit good, came out cold. Trying to reheat filet and stuffed shrimp is not an easy task. The Mac & Cheese made up for the cold dinner. Overall, we had a very nice evening and shared a great bottle of wine! I wold go back again in spite of the temperature of my dinner.
We've been to other examples of this group of restaurants, and been very pleased with the experience. This time, despite a terrific menu, this one wasn't at all pleasant. Way too much loud background music, very noisy, and the table service was very poor. It took over an hour to get our entree, the drink orders were likewise delayed, and tables around us remained uncleared long after the diners had departed.
The food was completely unimpressive, aside from the clam chowder. The only tasty piece of the seafood trio was the grilled shrimp. The salmon was not fresh and inedible. The service was fantastic, but too bad the food was not good. I will never go back again.
It was very nice except for one kid running around the dining room floor like it was chuckle Cheese. Parents not taking care of their responsibility. It was very uncomfortable until they left then it was a nice night. I have kids they would not even think to act that way.
Our waiter Tom, must of been having a rough day, his presentation was a bit smug, had already looked flustered upon our arrival. The app of Octopus came out chewier then actual gum, he gave a snarky comment when we asked for a different one ( instead he just took it off the bill) and I am one to NEVER return food and just eat it and move on. Otherwise, like any other visit there I've had many times, great food and service, salmon with goat cheese was delish!
First, we were served with the wrong meal. After I pointed out it was not what I ordered (though it was my co-worker's orders), we were advised it was for "another table." Then ours came and I had ordered my steak au poivre, which I was billed for, but it certainly was not. Additionally, when reviewing the bill, my co-worker's order was billed incorrectly and for a higher priced entree. Being a business dinner, I did not want to complain or cause a scene, but the experience was (sadly) poor. There are enough other restaurants in Philadelphia to take our business too.
I really enjoyed the the food. I went with two friends and we alll ordered a different appetizer and we shared them all. Everything was delicious. The service was fast and friendly. The drinks were great and strong enough. The atmosphere was amazing. I’m actually going again next month with another group of friends, I suggested this restaurant.
