McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Philadelphia Ratings and Reviews
Seafood Tower was superb, my twin lobster tails were succulent and rich, the sauteed spinach was alittle heavy handed with the garlic, but since I love garlic didn't have an issue, but other probably would. The chocolate basket should be a bit smaller, and maybe some crunch or cake layers added, rather then just mousse, but it didn't stop us from digging in with gusto to it, delish! Orlando was very attentive and fun.
The atmosphere is old world, but the food was awful. Perhaps the weather played a part in the quality, but the poor quality was i excusible. My steak was not only grossly over cooked, but poor quality. The mashed potatoes tasted like pure salt. My dinning parter felt the meal was on par with the Olive Garden.
We were very disappointed with the wait, e.g. bread, then butter, etc. It was extremely cold in the restaurant and we complained to the server and the assistant manager . The assistant manager was lacking in his response. A young couple was seated beside us. She indicated that it was her first time and the last time due to the extremely cold restaurant temperature and poor service. (They were told the server for their table had quit and others were filling in.) The temperature was so cold that we were unable to enjoy the ambience and or the food. My hands were freezing and my teeth were close to chattering. We deserved a comped meal and a medal for sticking it out.
I heard nothing but good things about McCormick & Schmick's Seafood. However I was not overly impressed with my meal. The steak and lobster were average. I had the same meal a few weeks at one of my local restaurants and it was much better and 1/3 of the cost. I did enjoy the raw oysters I had.
The food was adequate but my filet was as plain as it gets. No seasoning, no nothing. My wife got the stuffed salmon which seemed to have one very small shrimp and a little bit of crab. It was definitely disappointing. The appetizers, drinks and salads were good, but overall it was a mediocre dining experience.
We gave up on this restaurant 10 years ago. We should have held to that position. From the minute we got there, the experience was bad. The restaurant was nearly empty yet we stood at the desk for several minutes. When a man came to seat us, there was no hello, no smile, no sorry for the wait. The only thing he said was table or booth. I got seared tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and boc choy. The potatoes were room temp and could be cut with a knife. The boc Choy was room temp and lacked flavor. The tuna was room temp but that was seared so no complaint. My wife ordered crab cakes, green beans and orzo. Crab cakes were mushy and room temp, the green beans had no flavor and were also room temp. Guess what, orzo was same as green beans. For desert my wife got chocolate silk pie that lacked the silk because it was frozen. Her coffee was, you guessed it, room temp. The only bright spot of the evening was my chocolate bag desert that was filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with berries and whipped cream. I will note that our server was very attentive and did a great job. If not for him and the chocolate bag, I would have given this a 1. I don’t know how this place stays in business. Will never go back again.
Service was terrible—we were a party of four and it took almost 2 hours for our meal. The wait between courses was very long. Food was lukewarm when it came out. The restaurant wasn’t very crowded and there were lots of servers so we were perplexed on why the delay.
I always select Morton’s, Butcher & Singer or Ruth Chris. This was my 2nd trip to McCormick and Schmick. My first trip was 6 years ago - and again it was a disappointment.
It was Christmas night and they had no valet working at 6pm. We took an Uber so not an issue for us but several patrons had to go inside to be told there was no valet and then be pointed to the Wanamaker parking garage.
We waited a good 5 minutes until someone arrived at the hostess stand to check us in - however we were sat almost immediately.
Unfortunately No one pointed us to a coat check or offered to take out coats.
Once seated we waited 5 minutes till our waiter came to our table - he was however very good but overwhelmed as they were understaffed.
Ambiance - great feel to the place however the music choice all evening was odd. One would think on Christmas they might have seasonal music but if they don’t want to go hat route normal dinnner music would be nice - not music with vocals. Very poor music for any dining occasion.
My wedge salad was excellent.
My blue cheese and Onion mashed were great.
My filet was poor. Ordered medium and it had no red. It was overly chared on outside and had absolutely no seasoning or flavor. It did look like a very very good cut of beef.
My girlfriend said her lobster bisque was amazing and her stuffed shrimp were excellent. Her filet looked perfectly cooked (was ordered medium) but she also stated it had no flavor.
All and all a great meal because of the occasion - (Christmas dinner) but honestly they will not get a 3rd shot at my business.
I would rate the experience at this restaurant as borderline fair/good. My seating was not the best as it turned out to be a major foot traffic thoroughfare. This was a source of annoyance for my dining party.
The food was just "ok" this time. The sea bass came with pork sausage in the mash potato. A disappointing no-no. Also, the fillet mignon was not quite as tasty as in previous visits.
I had no complaint with the heinecken.
We went to dinner on Christmas Day. The restaurant itself was beautiful but the food and service was very disappointing. The waitress was very nice but it took her a long time to get our drinks. Another 20 minutes for appetizers and then 40 minutes to get our meals.
Two people in our party ordered steak and they were out of the cut they wanted. They ordered another steak and it came out cold. I would not recommend this restaurant. High prices and low quality food.
I can not describe how disappointed we were. In fairness the restaraunt was busy a couple days before Christmas. Also we had family in town and decided to just finish the meals instead of returing them. We also have had no problems in the past.
Of the 2 dozen oysters there were quite a few that should never have been served, they were pulverized when shucked or served on the wrong shell rendering them dry.
Most of the main dishes were cool to touch with a couple exceptions. Like I said we didn’t give them an opportunity to fix the issues. As we were departing I did alert our excellent waiter so he could make the right notifications.
Had lunch at the Center City Philly location. Overall food was just OK. Stuffed mushroom appetizer was very good. Ahi tuna poke tower has high in quality and taste but very small. About a tablespoon of tuna and the rest rice. Cheeseburger was OK. Prepared perfectly. Crab cake entree was just OK. Crab cake had lots of filler and not much crab. Orzo was bland at best. Veggies were OK. Chocolate silk pie was good.
My sister and I enjoyed a very good meal on a Monday evening. The restaurant is located directly across from City Hall. We started with the Caesar salad and chop salad. Both were generous portions, crisp greens, and were delicious. My sister chose the salmon while I chose the sea scallops. Both of us really enjoyed the seafood but left most of the included garnish /sides barely touched.
Our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and win s offered.
