McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
Took my wife to McCormick & Schmick's for her Birthday. We were both disappointed in service and ambiance as compared to the McCormick & Schmick's in Rosemont and Mortons in Naperville.
Took forever to get our drinks and main course. Wedge salad was skimpy and tasteless. Mahi mahi was good and crab legs ok. Would not return for a special occasion. Quality and service is more comparable to Claim Jumper, another causal restaurant in the Landry's group.
We were provided LUNCH menus (at dinner). This caused confusion initially (also gave me a reason to never go there for lunch!)
Drinks were wrong after taking forever to get them
No bread served, we were the only table without bread, server eventually brought bread after I paid the bill!!!!!
Fish served nearly raw, then returned after obviously having been microwaved
Inattentive Wait staff
Overall food quality did not match the price.
Steaks were chain restaurant quality at best.
Overall a very sloppy job on the part of this restaurant
Booked a 7:30pm reservation for New Years Eve two weeks in advance. Received a call the 31st of December telling me that they overbooked the 7:30pm timeslot and asked if I would mind pushing back to 7:45pm. I said that would be okay, understanding that mistakes happen and 15 minutes isn't a big deal. Arrived at the restaurant at 7:35pm to check in, was informed that my reservation was going to be pushed back once more to 8:00pm, so we went ahead and sat at the bar to wait for our table. While waiting at the bar, it quickly became very clear that they were understaffed, as the individuals around us had been waiting for a drink for quite a while. We watched as the bartender, clearly very busy, over looked us on multiple occasions, no greeting or a "will be with you in a second" acknowledgement. After 10 minutes we attempted to stop the bartender to ask if we could order drinks while we waited, and were informed that they would be right back with us. 18 minutes later (28 minutes total, now 8:05pm and still waiting for our table) the bartender took our order of 2 draft beers. Around 8:25pm we were seated for our 7:30pm reservation. No apology. No "sorry for the inconvenience, how about a complimentary appetizer/drink/something". The food was good, as it always is. But the service on this particular night that many, many patrons chose to spend with your establishment was very disappointing.
Unfortunately on New Years Eve, 2 filet mignon steaks were terribly undercooked. One was sent back to the cook and delivered still rare. Manager was very apologetic and offered to make a new steak no charge. But really, friends were almost done with their meal and I declined. My ceasar’s salad was good. No baked potatoe was on tonites menu. So as a so called steak house I’d say very poor experience. Chicago has some great steak houses and on New Years Eve I didn’t want to drive to my favorites. I wish I did.
The restaurant appeared to overbook reservations as we were there for our 4:30 seating, but told they were running 10minutes behind. We were not seated until close to 5pm. The lobby area was extremely crowded due to this overbooking. Other diners like us were not pleased. Thankfully we had an excellent server, Nicole.
The food was OK, not great. I ordered the 8 oz filet, but I've had better steaks elsewhere.
My husband ordered the twin lobster tails, and they were slightly under cooked.
For an appetizer we ordered the shrimp kisses, but again, was not impressed.
I'm not sure we would come again, too many other places to go.
When you pay over $30 for an entree, you don't want to have to ask to have the veggies and potatoes reheated. The waitress brought new hot food, so we took home the cold food and had it the next day. She treated the incident almost as if it were normal. Not much of an appology at all.
I don't know if they have a chef, or if they just warm up seafood that is prepared by a food service, or at minimum prepared ahead of time on site. The seafood grilled trio certainly was not created when I placed my order. The sourdough bread was good, but next time I'll go to Red Lobster, save some money, and have the fantastic cheddar biscuits.
Our experience at this restaurant went in the books for the worst Christmas Eve dinner we've ever had. The food was worse than wedding food, the steak was literally dry and cold... Not to mention it took 1.5 hours for our food to come to the table. For a large group we paid about $45 a person, drinks included but the quality could only be compared to outback steakhouse. The service was subpar, and I cannot stress enough how gross the food was. Will NOT be returning under any circumstances to this location or any other one in the country.
Except for the Hostess, the entire staff was unprepared. 15 minutes after sitting, to even order drinks, 10 minutes later the water glasses were filled. No silverware on the table, following two requests for it, it finally arrived after the bread and butter. Will not return.
Four scallops as a main entree and overcooked at that.
Fish portion, also as main entree, perhaps four oz.
I don't expect huge portions, but these were truly skimpy.
As there are any number of good seafood restaurants in the area,
no need to repeat the experience.
They has issues in the kitchen and the food was extremely slow and not prepared correctly. Also, my martini was served half-full. They offered sorbet while we waited because of the delay in the kitchen. Once the food came out, it was clear it was rushed out. It was not great. They didn't have there act together on this night. In my past experiences there, they were much better.
I ordered a $32 dish only to have it come out cooler than room temp-waitress takes it-brings back the same plate charred that I previously eaten. Manager comes over and asked did you get a fresh plate I responded no they reheated same plate. Asked if I wanted something else...no thank you. I'll starve. Your comp was to take it off the bill.....of course I didn't eat it. Not good.
M & S was, unfortunately, a bit of a disappointment. We had lunch there recently at a time when there was hardly anyone in the restaurant (like only five other tables seated), yet even our appetizers took a while to come. Our entrees took FOREVER to arrive, and they were hardly worth it. The food wasn't altogether terrible, but certainly not worth that length of a wait. We couldn't understand it. We shudder to think how long it would take to get our food had they actually been busy.
Our waiter was fine overall. I have food sensitivities, and he checked on certain items to see whether I could or could not consume them. No fuss, no muss.
Overall, for the price, not somewhere we'd likely dine again.
Sorry to say, but the food was awful. The value was even worse. When you're dropping $30-$40/person on food, you'd expect a good experience. Not the case.
Our Server, Matthew, was awesome. Only redeeming quality for this location. Not sure if it was because we visited on Friday 12/23, but that's not really an excuse. The quality of the food was so poor. Steak and stuffed shrimp for $40+? Absurd.
