McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
I was there for my wife’s birthday & she ordered the lobster. She was served steak & shrimp instead & asked if she minded. The manager brought a half cooked lobster tail to make it up. The general manager apologized & said he would pick up our dessert. I got the bill with the dessert on it. I will never go back. This follows another bad experience 3 years ago.
Our waiter was not very prompt between courses. It took us almost 4 hours to be waited on and consume our meals. It took so long that by the time I placed my order for the king crab legs the waiter returned to our table 15 minute later to tell me they had run out and I would need to order something different. I ordered the bone in rib eye which was not what I expected considering the price.
We had a VERY disappointing evening for us (3 adults). We arrived at about 6 pm for our reserved table and placed our dinner order within 15 minutes of being seated. We ordered 2 seafood dinners and the beef medallions with 2 salads as an appetizer. Although the waiter was very pleasant, the service was very slow. We were told after a while that one of the fish was sold out and would be substituted which was ok. The waiter checked in occasionally, but we had to ask for bread basket (which was sold out). HOWEVEVER, after_ 90 minutes_ our entres were STILL not ready. We asked to pay for the salads and drinks so we could leave as we had another engagement (and were very hungry). They " compted" our 2 side salads. We were never given explanation as to what happened. We did notice other tables seated after us received their meals much quicker.
Terrible waitress. Had to review our order three times. Didn't refill water glasses. Didn't ask if wanted more drinks. Didn't pick up empty salad plates for 15 mins, finally another waiter picked them up. Finally, upon arriving, had asked for surprise candle on dessert to celebrate birthday. Dessert comes, no candle, had no idea why we were mad. Sunday afternoon, 4 pm, place almost empty, her only table. Put "birthday" as special occasion on Open Table reservation. No clue about being an attentive server. Typical millennial, as our guests said. Manager very apologetic but damage done.
Looking for a last minute reservation, I found An opening at McCormick ands Schick's at 7:45 p.m. I contacted the restaurant to inform them that I was running a little late and they graciously held the table for us. We were celebrating 50 years together and not only did they save the night by holding the table, but they went above and beyond and providing wan excellent dessert, gratis, for us to enjoy. The meal was fantastic, the, atmosphere great, and the service was superb! I definitely will return for another visit!
I was expecting more from this restaurant. The menu was very limited. The wine and beverage menu had more to choose from than food. It took longer than I expected for the food to come out considering it was a Friday night and the restaurant was not busy. Our waitress was not attentive and it took her 15 min to bring my drink and 25 mind to bring the bread. Once we received our food I noticed it was very small portions. Out of all the steakhouses that I've gone to this one had the smallest portions. Although the taste of the food was not the worst it most certainly wasn't the best.
We started with raspberry mules which were a yummy light drink! We had New England clam chowder that we thought was perfectly spiced...just a hint of warmth to it! We ordered the crab cakes and Idaho trout which were both really delicious! For my friend's birthday they sent out a lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream that was the perfect end to a great dinner! Our service was outstanding and we can't wait to come back again!
We have spent several Thanksgivings here. Our drinks (Manhattan, Gimlet were good but small). Appetizers - Shrimp Kiss and Calamari were good but none of us liked our entrees. Pretzel coated whitefish had large, hard pieces of pretzel. Took one piece home but threw it out. Another had fish and chips - not crispy but soggy. A third person had King Crab. They were extremely small and she had a hard time getting the crab out of shells. Of course the upside down toffee apple pie was good, as usual. Other people got bread and butter - we should have been told we had to ask for it. Our server, Danielle, was wonderful!
We don't think we will go back.
Ordered the King Crab Legs. They were pretty small but I could have dealt with that. They were incredibly dry and stringy - probably the worst crab legs I have ever had. The manager comped my meal which was the right thing to do. My wife had the stuffed shrimp and she said they were flavorless. We were celebrating our anniversary and this was so disappointing. We had high expectations based on M&S reputation. The prices aren't cheap which would be fine if the quality of food was good. We were there on a Friday night and several tables were open which should have been an indication. The waiter seemed like he was really trying but he was clueless. I think their day has come and gone unless they spend some serious energy in improving the food and experience. I wanted to like them but unfortunately, we will not be back. There's a ton of good options in this area from which to choose.
Haven’t been here in a while, but that will definitely change in the future. From the sourdough bread before the meal, the sangria and the Parmesan crusted flounder, everything exceeded expectations! It was the best fish I’ve ever had! Cam, our server, was very friendly and attentive. I’ll be back soon!
Four of us were celebrating 2 Birthdays and we each selected seafood. We especially enjoyed the seared scallops served with spinach and a potato patty that included crabmeat. The Caesar salad was slightly underdressed. It was a pleasant meal in a pleasant setting.
We had a nice meal and were not interrupted from our get together (They are very patient with "slow to leave" customers at lunch!) Of the four meals, three were very good, but one fell short. Server was very pleasant and patient and everyone was very concerned about my wife's food allergy. A+ for that concern!
