McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
This wasn't the best experience. They had fans blasting full speed in the bar area, even though it's the middle of winter, and it was quite cold. Several guests complained about it, but they never got turned off. When we were seated 15 minutes went by and no one came to our table. We were finally able to flag someone down and got a server after that. The food was just ok. We probably won't be back.
Took wife for late Valentine's Day. Dissaponted and fealt awkward since the music was way to upbeat and didnt go with the dinner atmosphere. Service was great. Crab legs and lobster seemed dry. Filet was good. Best part was the dessert and our waitress. Based on the competitive options, will most like likely not come back.
The food was very good but we are not likely to go back because the music was too loud. You could hardly hear anyone speak. Why do some many venues ruin the experience by having loud music. What ever happened to soft background music. Even the waiter had to lean over to hear our order and had to repeat it.
I had never been to this restaurant before. My husband and I went for Valentine's Day. We waited about ten minutes even though we had a reservation. The appetizer of stuffed shrimp was very good, however it was downhill from there. My food came out lukewarm and my husbands steak was underdone. We sent it back. It took so long for his food to come out we shared my meal and it was gone before his returned. My potatoes were slightly undercooked, the side the waitress said the meals came with was zucchini but they came out with Brussels sprouts. I like that vegetable so I didn't complain. We were so hungry we just ate my cold meal anyway. When I used the restroom, I found out too late that there was no toilet paper in the stall. This restaurant catagorizes itself as high end steak and sea food restaurant. I'm willing to pay for a great meal, atmosphere, and service. We did not complain because it was a special occasion but we will never go back. The positive thing I can say is that our waitress was nice and apologized for the food coming out wrong and then late. Not impressed.
For the most part, the food was delicious and the service was very good.
I thought my salmon was a little too cooked. They really skimped on the stuffing of crabmeat and shrimp. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. But, two things I do not like: I don't like waiting while I'm eating for a glass of wine, puts a damper on dining for me; he whisked my glass of wine away later before I was done with it. Why do they not ask? I had stepped into the washroom. My husband just watched him clean some things off the table.
Not super impressed. We’ve heard really good things so was expecting a great experience. We go to Steakhouses yearly for our Anniversary. 23 years and this was probably at the bottom of our list. Service was mediocre, my steak was much more rare than ordered. Yes I could have sent it back...but I rarely do that. Food was served on cool plate and didn’t stay warm enough for me to enjoy the short time it takes to eat 6 oz. After it being offered we had to ask for the bread 2 more times before it arrived. Too many choices out there to take a chance on going here again. Not terrible but not good enough to return.
Went for restaurant week... to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Our server had very little training or knowledge for this caliber of restaurant. The courses were not properly timed and we ended up waiting significantly longer than normal. The tuna entree had no flavor. The portion on the beef medallion entree was paltry at best. This was my first time here and most likely will be my last. I get that we were there for restaurant week and perhaps portion sizes are smaller with the discounted menu, but we ate at four different restaurants this week and they blew your restaurant out of the water.
We chose McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook based on the Chicago Restaurant Week menu. However, when we were seated we were not given the Restaurant Week menu nor did the server even present the menu as an option. When we asked the server about the Restaurant Week menu she became agitated and annoyed and said she would have to go and find it. The server continued to be curt and made the overall experience fair at best. Perhaps McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook does not understand the purpose of Restaurant week is to bring in customers that would not have come in otherwise and perhaps, if the customer enjoys the experience, make return visits. Based on how we were treated, we will not chose to dine at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook ever again.
My boyfriend and I went here for Restaurant Week and unfortunately, we were very disappointed. I understand that it was at a discounted price, but that should have no effect on the food or service whatsoever.
When our server came to our table to greet us, he never mentioned his name or smiled (he probably only smiled once out of our entire visit there). He was so sloppy while he was clearing the table of the extra settings, that he hit me twice with the placemats and never apologized.
The look of the restaurant was beautiful, but the music killed the whole vibe. For a place thats supposed to be considered "fine dining" they were playing what sounded like B96 radio station. It made it feel like we should have been at a Bar Louie.
Our first course was probably the best part of the meal. I had the tuscan kale salad and my boyfriend had the crab and corn chowder. Both delicious. We both ordered the truffle beef medallions. HORRIBLE and small portions. My boyfriend ordered his medium well and it came out medium. I ordered mine medium rare and it came out RAW. Both were super undercooked. Server never came back to check up on us so we just boxed it up to recook at home. We both also ordered the chocolate pot de creme which was pretty much chocolate pudding. It had "chantilly cream” and when I asked what the chantilly cream was, the server said "uhhh its a sweet cream." Which ended up coming straight from a Reddiwhip can. Terrible ending to this already horrible dinner experience.
I've heard from many people that this place wasn't worth it, but I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and man, do I regret that decision. We will not be coming back.
I ordered the 13 oz. ribeye at this Steak and Seafood place and found the meat fatty and simply not what one expects from a steak place. Fortunately our other guests ordered seafood pasta type dishes and were quite satisfied.
The service was very good: attentive but unobtrusive.
Went Wednesday for Restaurant Week and M&S did not disappoint. Our server was very friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful, the crusted ahi tuna and wasabi mashed potatoes were delish! My friend had the roasted chicken and mashed potatoes which were also great! The blueberry ginger crisp was a great end to the meal. Will definitely go back.
I love McCormick's and Schmick's for a fabulous seafood restaurant with very fresh offerings as well as seasonal offerings. But run there now for the restaurant week menu - what a deal! Great service, great cocktails. I probably would not have ordered the Kale salad (too healthy sounding), but it was fabulous and would order it again. The corn and crab chowder was amazing. My seared tuna was huge and delicious and I found there are several things for the carnivore and vegetarian alike.
I did the Restaurant week special. Food was okay. My beef medallions came out cold and waiter did get me new ones right away. Kale salad was a little dry too. Never did ask us us though if we wanted a 2nd drink. This was our first time here on the fence about going back.
Sat us at a table that literally had a spot light on me. We asked to move, but they didn’t have any other tables. Waited ten minutes for cocktails, waited twenty minutes for iced seafood tower. When the seafood tower came out we didn’t receive appetizer plates or any sauces. My wife ordered Lobster bisque and shrimp scampi. The bisque was good and the shrimp scampi was on par with a red lobster. I ordered scallops which were good quality but lacked flavor. Desserts: creme brûlée which was soupy and warm. Chocolate bag with chocolate mousse which was gritty. $211 bill we are not coming back. No Valet Parking
