McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Oak Brook Ratings and Reviews
Haven’t been here in a while, but that will definitely change in the future. From the sourdough bread before the meal, the sangria and the Parmesan crusted flounder, everything exceeded expectations! It was the best fish I’ve ever had! Cam, our server, was very friendly and attentive. I’ll be back soon!
Four of us were celebrating 2 Birthdays and we each selected seafood. We especially enjoyed the seared scallops served with spinach and a potato patty that included crabmeat. The Caesar salad was slightly underdressed. It was a pleasant meal in a pleasant setting.
We had a nice meal and were not interrupted from our get together (They are very patient with "slow to leave" customers at lunch!) Of the four meals, three were very good, but one fell short. Server was very pleasant and patient and everyone was very concerned about my wife's food allergy. A+ for that concern!
Overall, a great experience. The waiter was a bit overbearing at first. He wanted to keep telling us about the menu. He wasn’t too sure of what he was telling us either. I don’t know, maybe he just needed attention. My husband drinks lots of soda. I few times I noticed his glass was empty, and the waiter was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, there was water on the table. Don’t get me wrong, he was polite enough. I just think he could learn to offer more accurate information quickly, and not as often. There’s always room for improvement. I’m sure he’ll get better over time. Maybe he’s new? Anyway, thanks for accommodating us for the evening.
I have been an M&C customer since the Portland-Seattle eighties and they have not missed a beat! We celebrated a good friend's milestone birthday, and our server, Ian, was remarkable in terms of product knowledge, timing, interaction, and affability. Need more like Ian. M&C will continue to be on our "A" list we reflexively think about when we want to go out.
I was on a special occasion dinner so I did not want to make a fuss in front of my date BUT the baked Salmon was nearly raw, in contrast to the potatoes on the side that were like charcoal and inedible. Making matters worse, this was not the salmon dish I had ordered from the base menu, BUT instead the 'special' salmon that day which of course was $11 more; to the advantage of both the restaurant and the waiter. I've been slammed on tips before, but in this case M&S and the waiter slammed me on my ouder, AND it was by far the worse salmon dish I've ever been served. I'll NEVER again return. I drove out of my way to this restaurant to try it and regret I did; especially since I drove past other very fine restaurants in my neighborhood like Hugo's and Catch 35 where the food and service has always been excellent.
They were 30 minutes late seating us even with a half empty restaurant and 6:30 reservations. Everything from our drink at the bar to picking up our plates when we were finished eating was slow. The sea bass was overly fishy and you can tell it was sitting on that plate for a long time before being served. They were clearly understaffed and it showed in the service and food preparation. Don’t go here.
The ambiance here was good but unfortunately, the food was not. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the chopped salad with chicken. The salmon was so bland and although it appeared that my salmon was grilled, it did not taste like it was. They didn’t use any seasoning. Same story for my husband’s chicken. Don’t think we’ll be coming back here again.
We received a gift certificate for the restaurant and went there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The waiter was attentive but not overly so and very knowledgable about the menu. The cost was a bit high, but all the food was delicious. I would recommend the place for special occasions.
My wife had the Beef Medallions Boardelaise and was astounded at the skimpiness of the portion. Because of that, alone, she'll probably never want to go again. I had the fish and chips, which were very good, and my son's steak was great, but you need to warn folks that four little slices of beef is what they get for $26.
The table reservation was for 4 adults, our friends arrived unexpected with a 3 year old son. The hostess greeted them and showed them to our table with no high char. They asked for one and did not get it, water took our order and did not ask if we need a high char for a child. After 30 min I had to go to a hostess and explained the situation, we got a high char finally. Everything els was good. Food was very delicious.
Service was a tad slow but fortunately we left plenty of time before play started at 8:30pm. Reservations were at 6:15pm. No bread or butter for starters...don't know if that is the norm or she forgot. Food was good...fried shrimp, beef medallions and white fish were our choices. Soup/salad is always extra as are side dishes. Lobster bisque was quite good and the other couple split one salad and both had plenty. There are no daily specials so the menu on their website will give you a good preview of what they have. We have also done happy hour at a Wash. D.C. location and would highly recommend that as well.
