McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - National Harbor Ratings and Reviews
Got seated right away, but our server was slow and disappeared for long periods of time before we even ordered our dinner. Then of course after the food was delivered he NEVER stopped by the table to ask about the food prep.
We had one meal that needed to be returned because it was dripping with grease/oil and we literally had to flag him down to stop. He then sent the GM over who said they were take care of the meal and replace it with something else.
Because we were a party of 4, no one analyzed the check, but the next day we tried to figure out how a table of 4 spent $180 without alcohol and McCormick's!
We out waiter had not removed the original dish returned and they also charged up for a replacement meal.
In all of my trips to McCormick's and many other restaurants, I've never once been charged for both meals and in most cases, the meal in removed from the bill.
I've been to many other McCormick's locations and have never had service this bad or been grossly overcharged.

The service was TERRIBLE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND! It was a birthday occassion for 2 and I wanted it to be deserving for my guest. Our reservations were at 7:30p. We waited about 10 minutes for our table, which wasn’t bad. Here is where it all goes wrong. The waitress came over to the table to ask for a drink order, whcih we needed a moment to decide. Once we placed the order, we had to repeatedly tell her at least 10 times to get the cocktail/ wine and spring water. Then, it took about another 15 minutes for bread. The waitress kept making excuses why our drinks didn’t arrive on time. Long/ short, our food was terrible and I had to send my plate back 2 times. I couldn’t eat at that point and asked to box it up. At least 5 times I asked where was my food and didn’t receive it. The FOH manager came to try and rectify the issue as well as correct our bill. We never saw the waitress again and the manager explained honestly that my food was thrown away. Then, it took the BOH manager to bring out our dessert and coffee. 3 hrs later, we were still there exhausted!!! I could write all the details, but want to warn you to NOT eat here!!!
Reservation – Our scheduled reservation was for 7:00PM but not knowing how bad the traffic or wait was going to be, we showed up at the restaurant at 6:15PM and they seated us right away. The hostesses were very courteous and greeted us as we arrived and were very friendly as they showed us to our table.
Ambiance – The table we were seated at was toward the front behind the hostess stand - cold air could be felt at the table. The lighting was too dark. Music was up too loud making it difficult to have a conversation across the table.
Service – Bruce was very good! Attentive, personable, and on point!
Food Quality – I had the Seafood Trio that included grilled salmon, crab-stuffed shrimp (2), and grilled shrimp (3) along with cheddar mashed potatoes and green beans. My wife had the Ultimate Mixed Grill that included the same items as mine with a crab cake added. She also had the roasted potatoes and grilled asparagus instead of the green beans. The salmon was just OK – nothing to rave about. In fact, mine seemed a little soft or “mushy”. The Stuffed Shrimp and Grilled Shrimp were both good – but nothing to rave about. The Crab Cake was “just OK” – good, but not outstanding. Being located in Maryland – McCormick & Schmick’s should know that Marylanders are VERY particular about their crab cakes. And as far as an “Ultimate Mixed Grill” – instead of two shrimp dishes, make one a scallop dish where the Ultimate has salmon, shrimp, scallops, and crab cake. My mashed potatoes were OK but a little on the dry side and my wife’s asparagus was good but had some stalks that were huge! Felt like big-chain food and not something that was made for each individual diner.
Overall Impression – Our dinner at McCormick & Schmick’s National Harbor was good, but not great. We had the pleasure of having a fantastic server, but given the ambiance and food quality, I have to give McCormick & Schmick’s National Harbor just an overall 3 stars.
The noise level was excessive, why do you insist on playing loud music so your patrons cannot converse? The kitchen was obviously very busy and not prepared for a holiday evening, I had to send my salmon back because it arrived uncooked and smeared in sauce. I had asked several times ahead for a table or booth with a view of the water and we were given a horrible table with a limited view. We had chosen this restaurant because previous meals had been excellent but this night did not live up to the reputation and I doubt if we will return.
Had a drink at the bar while we waited for table, so far so good. Bartender was very nice and personable. After being seated at our table, things went down hill. Ordered a second drink which was significantly smaller then the one ordered from the bar. Even the waitress noticed and said she would looking it. She never did. Food was ordered and 2 out of the 4 people in our party got NY strip and added crab cakes. No crab cakes came and the steaks were not cooked to how the were ordered at all. Well done was bloody and raw inside. Medium well was more medium rare. Asked about crab cakes and the waitress went and ordered them, not worth the wait! Crab cakes were not good. Then we finished and waited for her to return with our credit card. Missed our Uber it took so long and it wasn’t even that crowded. Not the experience you would expect for the price!
Went to celebrate a relatives birthday. Staff was very pleasant on the phone making the reservation. Loved the personalized menu acknowledging the event. Some confusion at first on which menu we could use. Once provided with a lunch menu we were able to order quickly. Food came out hot and everyone enjoyed their meal. Waitress was very attentive to our needs. Would highly recommend for a special event outing.
My husband and I went for anniversary, while we had a reservation, the wait was still lengthy. We were then seated at a table directly in front on the door and every time the door opened we felt the artic breeze. I couldn't enjoy my meal because I was freezing so I requested to be moved. The request was honored but we were literally moved to the table right next to the one we were at so needless to say we were still freezing and rushed through our meals so that we could leave. In addition to that our service was not that great. While our waitresses was very friendly she was not very attentive. We had to ask her to come refill our water 2x and the last request we received the bill without the refill. The food was delicious though.

My husband, daughter and I went on New Years weekend in National Harbor. My husband ordered the filet with two lobster tail dinner. The steak was not filet, but instead a small cut sirloin. My seared sea scallops had no taste leaving the meal very bland. We were sat next to a very large and loud group of people. Our waiter was good but for the price we paid, the meal wasn’t worth it and we wouldn’t recommend.
Service was slow and a plain hamburger order came with everything. We returned it and the extra items were just scrapped off. We returned it again and it came back plain but the bun was soggy. We asked for the burger to be compensated but management refused. We didn’t make a fuss because we were now rushing to our show, after receiving slow service. It was just a burger! The stuffed salmon was good but really overpriced!
For a date, this was a nice place. However, our service was rather slow (but they were extremely busy) and there was a piece of hair in our bread. After finding out about the hair the manager immediately came over and offered us free dessert. The food was really good, and at a very fair price. Even with the hair, and the somewhat slow service, I would definitely go again.
Special Christmas celebration with family and we had only one night at National Harbor. Restaurant was highly rated, but did not live up to my expectations. Appetizers were served at different times and were mediocre. Dinners also came several minutes apart and two dinners were served only lukewarm. A "medium" filet was served cool and when re-heated was overdone. By the time it was returned, most of us had nearly completed our dinners. We decided to indulge in desert elsewhere. Food was, in general, OK, but we were looking for better. Since there are many choices, we will most likely avoid this restaurant in the future
I knew I should have left when I arrived. It was close to closing but not crowded. It took long to get seated and waited on, and once we were waited on it took long to receive a cup of tea. The tea came after my meal arrived. My meal took long to come and wasn't even hot. I ordered crab legs and they were very dried out. It was hard to even take them out of the shell. Service and the food was lousy today. This was my worst experience ever coming to dinner here.
It's the same pretty much everywhere, so it's good for family that has a consistent palate. Food is very good, but nothing eclectic that I saw. View from the Harbor is beautiful. The only thing that disappointed me was the sangria cocktail which tasted like a fruit punch. I prefer that hint of alcohol taste to feel like you're splurging.
We got a good water view table but average service and meal, we had steak. Prices are high so I expected more. I have had better service and same meal quality in places like Longhorn, Outback, etc. For a place that serves meat and seafood, I would expect to see soemthing other than seafood for appetizers, so no appetizers for us.
My daughter and I had reservations for an early Christmas dinner. We got there a little early and were seated right away. Waiter came over and took drink orders. We then ordered our food. My food came 10 minutes before my daughter's. I of course waited for her to be served so my food was cold when I ate. I ordered steak and had to ask for a steak knife. It was a filet but I couldn't cut it with the butter knife. I had to ask for our waiter so I could order another glass of wine. It seemed there was plenty of staff on hand so it wasn't that. We were ignored. My daughter asked to talk to a manager. I paid the bill and a waitress came back and told my daughter the manager got busy. We left. I will not be back to this restaurant. Poor service, mediocre food.
My wife and I went there for Christmas Day dinner. Place was busy, but all the staff was pleasant and our waitress was very friendly and a good server. Meal took a long time, but that was expected on Christmas.
The food was overall rather ordinary. Nothing bad, but just not the total quality we expect from an upscale restaurant. Drinks, shrimp cocktail and lobster tail were great. New England clam chowder was more like potato soup. The two Filet Mignon were just okay -- cooked the way we asked (medium and medium-well) but a bit dry and tasteless.
Based on our experience, if we went back it would be for the seafood.
