McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - National Harbor Ratings and Reviews
The food was amazing. However, we had a server who was in-training, so there were some orders that were mixed up. We had another server come and try to help us, but that just lead to more confusion. Our entrees came out before our salads/soups, and he had to come back multiple times to reconfirm our order.
Service was very slow. Waitress took forever to come back to check on our table. My husband asked for steak sauce by the time the steak sauce came i was pretty much done with my meal. Alcholic drink was nothing but juice. I had to send it back twice and have them take it off my bill. Food was great though.
Very Good Food, Superior View, Small Service Downfall
The five of us arrived for our reserved time a bit late, (following a phone call to alert them) receptionist quite polite. Seated instantly.
Server was kind and patient with some of our slower orderers - me - and answered questions well.
Appetizers were excellent (Crispy Calamari) as was food for all. Scallops were tender, creatively paired on bed of vegetables. Dining mates said Rockfish was excellent. All in all, a very good meal.
I dropped down my rating 'overall' by a point because the beverage service was impossibly slow. Up to the point of reminding the poor server a couple times (it was wine by the bottle, nothing tricky). For our second bottle, we waited over 20 minutes, and were about ready to conclude the meal.
Our server said his manager had to unlock the bin from which it was stored each time, which seems monumentally inefficient, though possibly required.
Otherwise, the place has a gorgeous view, is nicely appointed, food was really good, and service - with limitations - was as good as expected.
Food was great but service was not! Birthday celebration for my husband and did not deliver what was promised. Did provide special menu but not for our entire table of 6. No special dessert and manager never came to table to make sure all was going well. Ordered a bottle of champagne but was told they ran out of champagne classes...really! Server was sweet but very busy and took 25 minutes to get our first drink order to our table. Food was good but left a little disappointed as this was a special occasion and I had specifically called the day prior and spoke to a manager but still did not deliver some of the “special” touches promised.
The only thing that was worse than the slow/uncaring service was the food! Two MICRO lobster tails and everyday mashed potatoes for $35...BUT you could get a third tail for a $10 up charge....really? I'm not a big eater and I get that It's the quality not the quantity. However, four of those micro tails would barely make a decent meal. And the taste was average at best. Good thing my spouse ordered something different or I would have starved! Ordered two drinks, the second one finally arrived after I was completely finished with my meal! Not a word from my server. Just dropped the drink on the table and took off. This place was all about getting them in and out. Save your money and go to Red Lobster where the ambiance is just as good and the food, service, and prices are better!
Went for restaurant week. The menu was good and so was the food for the most part. I ordered steak medallions with asparagus and roasted potatoes and my wife ordered twin lobster tails with lobster mashed potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked (I ordered medium) and the portion surprised me for what were referred to as "medallions"; and the lobster tails, while not of notable size (no surprise there, restaurant week) were well cooked. The sides however, left something to be desired. I had only the stems of brussels sprouts on my plate and I had to search to find those and the lobster mashed potatoes were boxed mashed potatoes with an unremarkable "lobster" sauce on them. Very underwhelming.
The service was "meh" at best. First they failed to reserve my table and we had to wait several minutes for another couple to finish. I'll give them a pass, it was VERY busy no doubt do to the RW traffic. The waitress was very polite and personable, but she had NO knowledge of the menu, neither did the bartender know how to make a simple cocktail.
All in all, with all of the great choices at the National Harbor, this would be my last resort.
The food and the server were great. The restaurant seems to struggle with time management. After confirming the reservation 2 Days in advance and calling 15 minutes before our reservation to say we would be 10 minutes late, we still had to wait 20 minutes after arriving for them to set up our table. If it was busy, I’d understand but it was 4:30 pm and the restaurant was about 1/4 full. It also took 25 minutes for a round of drinks to arrive because the bar was backed up. Again, the food was great, but we probably won’t go back.
Atmosphere was good and servers were very courteous. However, it took a very long time to receive drinks, appetizers and meals. Ribeye steak was average, my wife’s filet was good though. I don’t think the value equation was good for price, meal quality and service.
I took my husband for his first visit to McCormicks for restaurant week. I hit the ball out of the park!! Great value, great food. He usually complaints but he loved the food. He had Ahi Tuna, Crab and Corn Chowder, and Apple Pie. My lunch was delicious as well.
We went for my husband's birthday. It was our second time here and both times we were disappointed. We'll not be returning. First, I informed our waitress of the occasion and it wasn't acknowledged. Secondly, it took almost two hours to get our food which left more to be desired. Overall, the experience was not very good to say the least.
This my Christmas dinner with my 4 adult kids, a son in law and my wife. With tip it was $800. More than I expected but I gave no limits. Drinks, appetizers and entras. We were about 2 1/2 hours. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. I wanted something different this year. It was a good choice.
I went for Restaurant Week and the food was very good. The only downside was that two of the choices I ordered wasn't available. Usually I wouldn't mind, but I went on the first day of Restaurant Week at the earliest time slot. It's weird that two of the options weren't available.
It was an unusual experience, that we enjoyed overall, but had some problems. We enjoyed the food that we ended up selecting, but we had to choose new meals for 3 of the 5 of us because they were out of lobster tails and all forms of tuna. The waitress was kind, but meals were slow to arrive, so that although we arrived for reservations at 7:15, we were not done with our meals until around 10pm. Overall, we enjoyed the food and a lively experience, and would go again.
We were pleased overall that we could get a reservation on a Saturday night. The venue was crowded but well managed. The food was good so overall we had a pleasant experience. Not over the top...but very good. Our only complaint which really damped our overall experience, was the waiter.....followed by the manager, trying to market a "manager's card" which cost $25 but offers discounts on future meals plus other benefits. We felt this was very inappropriate to feel somewhat pressured after our meal. I'd really recommend a different approach for offering this card. It definitely had a lasting impression.
The ambience was nice for celebrating our birthdays (my sister and I). Definitely recommend the crab cake dinner.
It was noisy near the bar area since we arrived during happy hour. Fortunately, we were seated further away from the bar area, which enabled us to converse.
Appetizers, drinks and entrees were excellent and I say this because I ate my entire meal (rockfish is to die for). Our waiter EJ was attentive, honest and overall an excellent server, much so that we let his manager know. Setting for dinner was romantic as I requested and the the lighting was very dim. This may be a problem with someone who has vision problems who may need to use their phone for long light. Overall I really enjoyed my dining experience. Ask for EJ and he’ll take care of you.
Went for lunch thinking there would be a lunch menu but only received dinner menu. It was a Tuesday so not real busy but the food seemed left over. Had shrimp chopped salad with 4 very overdone shrimp, ton of dressing and lettuce with a couple of balls-which seemed odd-of blue cheese and no noticeable bacon. Crab soup was at best yesterday's and my guess was from the prior weekend. Probably the worst food I have eaten at a restaurant in several years.
I cannot recommend this restaurant. We waited over 10 minutes for our server who did not smile. We waited another 10+ minutes for our drinks and another 10+ minutes for our appetizers. The main courses (lobster and beef medallions) were not well presented and the food was bland. The blueberry crisp dessert had no flavor and the topping was soggy. We chose this venue because of the view of the harbor. The service and food is lack luster and not worth the price we paid.
First time visiting this establishment, we had to wait 10-15min past our reservation time to be seated when there were a number of open tables available. Then when we were finally seated the host sat us at a 6 top, and it was only 2 people for the reservation, by the kitchen. I then asked to be moved and she tried to say all the other tables were reserved but she would see what she could do. After waiting and 5-10min we where finally sat again at one of the tables that magically was no longer reserved. Keep in mind it was not a busy night at all, there were at least 15+ tables open. The food was ok, I’ve had better, portions are small. Overall not very impressed, I don’t think we would return.
