First time dining here, overall very good variety of food and drinks.
Excellent food, intolerable noise level made conversation difficult if not impossible
The only drawbacks were the ambiance and noise. We were hoping for an upscale, fine dining experience, but instead the music/DJ from the bar (St Patrick’s Day) was incredibly loud. They did turn down the column after a while. But honestly, had I been informed that there was going to be the “dance party” theme and not the usual fine dining, I would’ve gone else where for this reservation.
Great food and service.
We were not allowed to make a substitution on the sides. Server said we could BUT we would have to pay the price for the side listed on the menu. Sauce on the crab cake was cold (not even room temperature). Veggies rest of the meals (crab, and my flounder) were barely room temperature. The server did not know the menu. He described the seasonal vegetable, but we did not get what he said they consisted of. Other things we asked about he had keep running back to ask in the kitcher. Also,, we wanted to order an appetizer, but he said the restaurant was "out of mangoes". A restaurant such as this should not be out of anything at the lunch hour. On the plus side, the flounder was very good as was the crab cake. They would have been better if served warm. The music was very loud -more indicative of a TGI Fridays than a McCormick & Schmicks
There food was good but not so good to over come the rest of our visit. The waiter accidently peed water on my wife and onto her ultra suede coat. Despite her saying it was ok, there was no offer to clean it out correct the situation. We actually cleaned up the spill ourselves. While friendly, the waiter took an extraordinary long time to bring us food and desserts and never asked if we would like a refill on water or drinks. The nose level was unbearable. There two tables next to us were laughing and talking so loudly that it was apparent others were bothered but no one confronted then and asked that they reduced there loudness. We don't go too this restaurant often because this is our typical experience of the other visits as well.
We were in a hurry, and were a few minutes late due to traffic in National Harbor, but hostess was great and they seated us ASAP. I am in a wheel chair and they made us feel at hope. Garage and open area parking is close by, a little tight, but a lot of handicap spots if you go early. You can roll right in with an accessible door on the left side of the revolving door. Nice open hostess stand and they put us in a great location, close to front, with super view of the Potomac and big screen. We could see all the action. Was fun. The food and service was even better. Took our orders asap, brought drinks and bread right away, water service was just right and food was outstanding. My wife had a salmon dish with shrimp toping and I had the Rockfish with crab topping and served with spinach and mashed potatoes. A little on the spicy side but it was blackened perfectly. Crisp but still juicy and perfect. No time for desert but we were in and out in under an hour...not simple given it was Saturday night at 730pm! Again, our waiter and hostess were great and the food was spot on. We will go back for dinner and dessert when not rushed.
I’ve been to other M&S’s and this location does not fit the brand standard. Very poor service, slow, loud — no way I’d recommend anyone go here, especially for the price.
We had a tight schedule, which is why I had a reservation. Upon entering with our party of eight, the hostess told us to wait. After 18 minutes beyond our scheduled reservation time, I inquired about our table and was told that the people currently at the table were not leaving and they had nowhere to put us. Our party ended up splitting into two groups and taking two high top bar tables, not ideal for our group, as we had kids with us.
This clearly put a damper on the experience. We have eaten at McCormick and Schmidt in our hometown (Pittsburgh) many times and had wonderful experiences. We also ate at the one in Columbus (Easton) with a large group last March. It was fantastic. The service was excellent.
This experience was poor. The hostess seemed annoyed with us, while the waitress was equally bothered that we questioned the $16 side salads our kids (who were now not sitting with us) ordered. Meanwhile, their friend at another table was charged $10 for her side salad. The inconsistencies were absurd. Furthermore, they brought the salad and then were out of ranch dressing. How on earth does a large restaurant run out of ranch dressing on a Sunday afternoon and still serve AND CHARGE $16 for the salad? I will never return to this restaurant, however, I don't want this one mismanaged location to ruin the name for so many others that are truly great places for a healthy meal.
I made this reservation for happy hour so we could get reduced price beverages. We were informed after being seated that the happy hour prices were only available in the bar. We talked to the manager, who was disinteretested and seemed to care less about pleasing a customer. However, our waitress was fabulous and was able to get us drinks at the correct rate, so we were very pleased. Food was very good. A great experience, due to our excellent and attentive waitress.
I made reeservations for my Boyfriends Birthday and specifically asked for it to be special. The waiter did not pay attention to our reservations. when I payed for the bill Iwent up to the host and asked her are we supposed to receive anything for my boyfriends birthday she looked at me with shock and said, he didn’t give you guys the cake and ice cream i said no. She said the menus had special Birthday occasion on it and he should have known better she asked me to sit back down and she will take care of it. I sat down any when the waiter came back i said did you know we were celebrating a birthday at this able he said oh No I’m sorry what can i do to make it up. At this point i was upset and wanted to leave Worst birthday experience ever.
There is a need for a quieter dining experience. This was unexpectedly loud for a Sunday afternoon without football.
My server was wonderful!
Fabulous food. Very reliable dining experience.
Our service was not the best, our server was so distracted by another large table that we had to keep hunting him down. One of the meals that was ordered was delivered wrong.
We went before a theater performance at MGM. The food was great, service terrific. I would go again.
Food was uncharacteristically off and stuffed salmon over cooked . Service was great
I have dined at MS many times and have always been pleased. This visit was most disappointing as the food was below par (over cooked salmon, shrimp lacked flavor and sides were not hot). Our server was the highlight , rest of the experience most disappointing.
From my experience, the McCormick & Schmick's brand restaurant carries a certain level of expectation. This was our first time at the National Harbor location. We typically frequent the Reston VA location, we have been to other locations in the DC Metro as well as other US cities. While the food was very good and absolutely lived up to the expectation, the service was sub par; slow, forgetful, waitress missing for long periods of time but pleasant when at table side. (It is never a good sign when your guest says " lets order a second quick as we don't know when she'll get back here again". So all in all. A "fair" experience at best. Maybe they were a bit off on Tuesday.
The trio platter was smaller than expected for the price. The grilled shrimp was rubbery. Atmosphere and scenery is nice though.
Great food excellent service
Wanted to come here for my 21st birthday and it was a bad decision. Food wasn’t cook well enough but they over cooked my burger .
Also the waiter took my change without asking.
Really didn’t appreciate this restaurant .
The food has been steadily declining since they were bought out a few years ago. The piece of flounder I had was thinner than the fried batter surrounding it. The sides were the only thing worth eating. As far as service goes, our main course arrived half way through our bowls of soup. The server pushed their loyalty program twice after politely declining it. I used to love this restaurant. I would sometimes drive 30 minutes just for a good lunch.
I've been to this restaurant before for happy hour and dinners. Dinners have historically been mostly good and happy hours good as well. This night was a tremendous disappointment and I'm unlikely to return. The cocktails for our group of 4 arrived about 45 minutes after we ordered them and after our food arrived. The food, while tasty, was not at all hot. I think the bar was slammed and our server had too many tables. It was an expensive tab for a very sad dinner.
The service was less than desirable. Our reservation was 2:45pm. The crowd was small, however, our service was slow and poor. We waited for menus after being seated. We ordered two appetizers, one of which was never brought out. My son waited an extended time for his Shirley Temple. He requested blue cheese dressing as a dipping sauce with his entree which had to be requested several times before it was actually delivered. After finishing lunch, we waiting an additional extended time for a requested dessert menu.
I frequent this location and unfortunately, this experience left a lot to be desired.
Our server was not attentive at all...not rude just ignored us and we felt forgotten
The reservation process work just like I expected. Why make reservations if they are not adhere to. We walked in at 1:50 and was immediately seated. The server was very cordial and kind. Great food, we'll prepared.
Great experience for our 23rd Wedding Anniversary.
The service was great! Can’t wait to come back again!
The food was amazing. However, we had a server who was in-training, so there were some orders that were mixed up. We had another server come and try to help us, but that just lead to more confusion. Our entrees came out before our salads/soups, and he had to come back multiple times to reconfirm our order.
Great food. Prices are reasonable. It was very crowded. Reservations recommended, especially on special occasions
Service is always awesome. Love the location and you are seated with little wait time.
Busy nonstop on Valentine’s Day however the service did not suffer at all.
The food and service were excellent. There were too many tables. Where we sat felt like Grand Central Station. It was Valentine's Day and very busy, but the busy-ness around the table was very close to uncomfortable at times.
Service was very slow. Waitress took forever to come back to check on our table. My husband asked for steak sauce by the time the steak sauce came i was pretty much done with my meal. Alcholic drink was nothing but juice. I had to send it back twice and have them take it off my bill. Food was great though.
Went for Valentine’s Day with wife & 2 friends. Not sure if it was the crowded restaurant, but we left unimpressed. Food order was was and the wrong type of wine was brought. Food was good, but service was so-so.
the food was delicious, but the portion were to small
Very Good Food, Superior View, Small Service Downfall
The five of us arrived for our reserved time a bit late, (following a phone call to alert them) receptionist quite polite. Seated instantly.
Server was kind and patient with some of our slower orderers - me - and answered questions well.
Appetizers were excellent (Crispy Calamari) as was food for all. Scallops were tender, creatively paired on bed of vegetables. Dining mates said Rockfish was excellent. All in all, a very good meal.
I dropped down my rating 'overall' by a point because the beverage service was impossibly slow. Up to the point of reminding the poor server a couple times (it was wine by the bottle, nothing tricky). For our second bottle, we waited over 20 minutes, and were about ready to conclude the meal.
Our server said his manager had to unlock the bin from which it was stored each time, which seems monumentally inefficient, though possibly required.
Otherwise, the place has a gorgeous view, is nicely appointed, food was really good, and service - with limitations - was as good as expected.
It was restaurant week and the wait was long considering we had reservations. We were finally seated at a table that had not been cleaned. Our waitress, Monai, however, was a joy!
The quality of the food was poor and the time to receive food was long. The staff was great but it was during restaurant week and I was disappointed.
