McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Naples - Mercato Ratings and Reviews
We arrived a little late because of traffic. We did call to notify them of our expected late arrival and were treated very graciously with the hostess saying "get here when you can, drive safe". We arrived about 15 minutes late and were immediately seated. Booth was a little small for 4, but OK. The server Tom, promptly greeted us and even took our valet parking ticket to get it stamped so there was no cost, other than a tip to the valet when I picked up the car. We did get there before 6pm and were surprised when we were given the "Early Bird" menu along with the regular menu. The Early Bird had a nice variety of items from which to choose and we all selected something for our meals. The meal included a soup or salad, entree, and desert. We were all happy with our varied choices and were not pressured to vacate the premesis. We sipped our drinks, paid the tab, and were on our way. Overall, a very nice experience.
Excellent Swordfish, Crab Cakes, Oysters Rockefeller, and Shrimp. Very good wine list. Excellent valet parking. The service leaves something to be desired. Our server started out good and then disappeared. Our food was brought to us by kitchen staff. Approximately 45 minutes later our waiter returned only to give us a bill. He then disappeared again for 15 minutes and I had to ask another lady to try to find our bill which she brought to us minus my credit card. When I got up to find our missing waiter and cornered him inquiring what happened to my credit card he disappeared again and returned shortly with the card and mumbled some flimsy excuse. It appears that some type of credit card scam may be happening here so I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you do decide to risk this place bring plenty of cash in place of credit or debit cards and make sure you get a receipt!
Our server barely paid attention to us. The food was OK but it came to us barely warm. Almost cold. He never came back to check on us. Meanwhile, we could see him spending a lot of time schmoozing a different table. Terrible service! I would not recommend this restaurant.
Waiter forgot to bring the wine we ordered. Clam chowder appetizer came out first. Had to track down another waiter to get our wine. The fried shrimp were actually tough. Ordered tarter sauce - didn't get tarter sauce. Had a special "sunset" dinner for $25.00 - was charged over $29.00. Lemon pie desert tasted like it was frozen and quick thawed with crust tough as cardboard. Buyer, beware!
Excellent evening with friends. Great service and excellent food. We enjoyed ahi tuna, swordfish, scallops, and the seafood trio. All were excellent. Also enjoyed the wine and my wife had the lemon drop martini. Very good also. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Overall excellent experience. Will definitely return.
Ordered our entre' (Sword Fish), after appitizer then our salad we were told they were out of Sword Fish Casino (Chefs Suggestion). Apparently our server wasn't informed they were out. Then ordered Palm Grouper and was finally served but disappointed with the fish/meal. Ordered Chocolate Bread Pudding for desert only to find out they were out of that too. Disapointed.
Everything about our dinner was bad food was not served together when stakes come out there were NO stake knifes stakes were ordered mead rare come out Raw they forgot to put in one off our side orders when it told my waitress she said I forgot she would put it in if we still wanted it NEVER WILL GO BACK STAY AWAY !!!!!!! go to Capital Grill never disappointed
Very nice evening. It was very busy and we ordered a bottle of champagne. Our waitress was rather new and didn’t know how to open it. She was very sweet so my fiancé assisted her. She didn’t know to place the remaining bottle in a bucket of ice. Although we asked for the ice bucket, it never came. Other than that, the food was excellent, we enjoyed the waitress and the dessert (the Chocolate Bag) was outstanding. My fiancé is still talking about that dessert!! We will definitely be coming back.
The service was excellent the wine and appetizers were very good my husbands main dish was good so I must have ordered the wrong thing! I ordered the grouper and it was supposed to have potatoes and corn couldn’t find the corn plus the grouper couldn’t of been fresh cause it tasted like leather! I should have sent it back but I didn’t other than my mishap on the main meal everything else was great and your server was very attentive
Also no waiting we were seated right away
We come to M & S often. I was concerned about some of the Christmas reviews, but found the place great as usual. The food was great. The service was exceptional. The Hostess was charming and helpful. Our server recommended the brown bag chocolate dessert which was out of this world and large enough for 2+. Definitely the "go to" place for us.
Excellent service and they take reservations on a very busy holiday, Friday night in Naples, Florida at the Mercato. Many restaurants in the Mercato do not take reservations. Our party of 7 arrived, were seated promptly and our waiter was amazing! Very attentive. The chocolate bag dessert is AMAZING!
I knew the wait would be long due to Christmas but for reservations tables should be reserved or in the process of being seated! The hostess were rude to the couple in front of us! They were literally screaming at the them and very unprofessional! Our server took 20 mins to greet us and my appetizer came out extremely fast before our glasses of wine but was cold! It took over an hr for some crab legs! It was my first time dining there and i don’t know if I would ever go back!
Usually a good bet, however went on Christmas for dinner and it was disappointing, half an hour to get seared ahi tuna appetizer, another half hour for the entree. My wise sea bass was good, my pork chop was tasteless, under seasoned and a long time coming. Won’t cross it off my list just yet, but...
In fairness, it was busy, one assumes they had reservations and could have been better prepared. Had to let the Matre ‘de know the restroom was filthy, out of paper towels, with over flowing trash receptacles.
Not a good evening.
