About McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Minneapolis
Unique to Minneapolis, the restaurant has several "snugs" (private booths for six with draperies) in the formal dining room. The handsome interior features handcrafted mahogany, stained glass (depicting Minnesota heritage), brass accents, and Tiffany-style lamps lending a traditional note to the interior.
McCormick & Schmick's also features a lively bar experience, with a bar staff that practices traditional mixology -- hand-shaken cocktails using only bottled sodas, freshly squeezed juices and premium liquors.

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Minneapolis Ratings and Reviews
This was our second time at McCormick & Schmicks. We had a group of 8 and the seating was very accommodating. Although the service was slow (we think it was due to the timing in the evening and other large groups were there), but the food was fantastic, as always! We will be back :)
We chose this restaurant due to our love of seafood, location and ambiance to celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. From specialized menus to a knowledgeable and professional waiter, our meal was memorable. The difficult part was choosing from the extensive menu and wine list. Both our entrees were to die for. We would definitely recommend and return.
We were having a family holiday outing and were very pleased to utilize the semi-private booth.
Both the service and the food were excellent. We had so much fun we let the time get away from us and didn't have time for desert. We will definitely be returning often.
great food as always, but our server did not give us good service at all! it was just 2 of us. initially we had a reservation for 4 and the other couple's dog got hurt. our server was very upset that it was just us 2. she gave much better service to all other 4+ people tables. disappointing. we know how the game works with a tip, sad
We had a GREAT experience at McCormick & Schmick's on New Years Eve. We were celebrating our anniversary as well, and I had made a note of that when I made the reservation... when we got there, we had personalized menus wishing us a Happy Anniversary that they gave us!!! So unexpected and fun! Our waiter was fantastic - very knowledgeable, personable, and attentive - without being overbearing. The food was exceptional and we left completely stuffed!! Would definitely return and/or recommend to foodie friends!
We were in town for Phantom of the Opera at the Orpham and stayed and extra night to go to McCormick & Schmicks. Definitely worth the stay. Food was fantastical! Service was even better. Chef was willingness to work with us as we created our own tasting menu. Server, Alex, was perfect. We brought our own wine and he callled in reinforcements in the way of Donna as a sommelier.
They had the B team on staff that day. Everything was off and they did not handle the customer service well. Yes, they gave us free desserts but overall, the service was sub-par and we will not go back, ever. Also, you walk through the kitchen when enter through a building entrance, very strange....the overall look is dated.
I have been to McCormicks on many occasions when I worked down town and have always loved their food, atmosphere and location on the Nicollet Mall. They also have a great happy hour with tasty appetizer specials. It was one of the few restaurants open on Christmas eve that was good and had seafood. My brother, husband I wanted to take our Aunt and my husband's mother out for the evening as none of us had plans. My mother-in-law thought she was being treated to something special as did my aunt. We all had very nice meals, and our waitress who had to work on Christmas eve couldn't have been more attentive. She loved the two older women so much she brought out a special desert for both of them. It was a sweet night and might be a new family tradition!
We had a party of six and so were given a private booth which had curtains which could be drawn for additional privacy and sound baffling. It felt very private and cozy and was wonderful for conversation. The food was delicious and every effort was made to ensure it was cooked to our individual preferences. My only advice would be to our waiter to be a little less energetic when checking on diners behind the closed curtains as it felt very jarring to our quiet conversation when he popped his head through the curtains with a loud "how's everything?" Nevertheless, this is a fine restaurant and I would recommend it.
went with friends to McCormick and Schmicks for a holiday dinner and then to a concert. Reservation for 7:15, concert to start at 9. Seated about 15 minutes late (not really a problem). Ordered within 15 minutes. By 8:50, still did not have food. One person in our party spoke with the floor manager about our lack of food and the need to leave. The manager was very pleasant, apologetic, and stated he would comp our meal and have it packed for takeout. That was a good response but would have preferred to have a pleasant meal. I understand they are very busy during the holidays, but not acceptable. If we go back, it will not be on a weekend night or during the holidays.
We dine out a lot but had never been to this restaurant before. We decided to try it with a group of 10 friends on a Saturday night and were very disappointed. The food was pretty good, but the poor service soured the evening. Our server was slow, inattentive and not particularly friendly. Given the other alternatives in town, it is unlikely that we will return.
The flounder was overcooked and tasted like dry tuna. The fillet ordered medium rare was overcooked the ends and probably medium in the middle. Waitstaff reached across the table over our diners heads repeatedly. When one of our diners went to the bathroom she came and cleared his spot taking his food along with the bread for the table when we were not done.
All in all a mediocre experience for a downtown restaurant. Totally expected more from this place especially for $200 for four diners
Excellent service - Frank was very well versed in the menu and had excellent insight into what we may want.
Food was wonderful - Hawaiian flown in Tuna, Swordfish, and Mahi Mahi and some creative side dishes.
Setting was upscale without being too formal for casual dining.
The food is always excellent at McCormicks if you order fish or seafood. I cant comment on other types of food because I never order anything other than fish or seafood. We had walleye and flounder and both were excellent as were the vegetables and potatoes. And we had a "to die for" dessert as well - the Chocolate Bag
Beautiful restaurant, but cozy with alot of wood. The menu had a variety of choices, and pricing was good. There were 8 of us and everyone enjoyed the meal they ordered, most everyone did have seafood. Service was great, it was a busy evening, but it did quiet down.
