About McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Minneapolis
Unique to Minneapolis, the restaurant has several "snugs" (private booths for six with draperies) in the formal dining room. The handsome interior features handcrafted mahogany, stained glass (depicting Minnesota heritage), brass accents, and Tiffany-style lamps lending a traditional note to the interior.
McCormick & Schmick's also features a lively bar experience, with a bar staff that practices traditional mixology -- hand-shaken cocktails using only bottled sodas, freshly squeezed juices and premium liquors.

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Minneapolis Ratings and Reviews
The only negative was the menu stated the price of my meal as $17.00 but I was charged $18.00. It would have been great if the waitress picked up on that prior to the bill arriving. I chose to let it go.
The positive was the ambience is great and the energy within this venue is very good.
Biggest issues were: First, had reservation, was there 15 minutes early, and was seated 20 minutes after our reservation. And noted 4 empty tables around us when seated.
And, second, the staff seemed completely disorganized with people milling around EVERYWHERE. At one time, there were 7 waiters, managers, clearing staff all hovering over a table in the middle of the room. Seemed chaotic and really wrecked the mood for us and many around us.
First time to the restaurant. Service was exceptional. Drinks were amazing. Unfortunately the steak recommended was not very good. The New York Strip was done to order but it was the least tasty steak I can remember ever having. It looked great but no flavor. Server insisted on making a different steak and the Rib Eye was very nice. Thanks for the hospitality:-)
The food was excellent. We went on Sunday because they were giving free entrees to veterans. I don't think they were totally prepared for the crowd. We had to wait 15 minutes after our reservation time. The waiter appeared almost immediately after we were seated to take our drink offer. We asked for a few minute or two to look at the drink menu and he disappeared for over 15 minutes.
What a great tribute to all the veterans on Saturday, Nov. 5th. Though there was a small wait for our 5:15 table, the hostesses did a great job of working through the enormous number of people who showed up for this annual occasion. According to the hostesses they had reservations for 650+ last night!!! The table was great, our server, Mitchell was spot on with recommendations and attentiveness. The food was delicious and hot, no small feat when you saw how many meals were being prepared out of their kitchen. I have never been disappointed when dining at M&S. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you to McCormick and Schmecks for such a great evening. This event makes your restaurant an easy choice when considering where to eat in downtown Mpls. throughout the rest of the year!
A Vietnam Vet.
We were there for their Veteran's Day dinner where they provide 'thank you ' meals to vets. And thank you for doing that, it is appreciated. Still, that 'free' dinner cost me $150 to share an evening with my wife, having a bottle of wine and desert. Food is very good, prepared and served well. Service was good considering they were short staffed so the poor gal who served us had to work hard to keep us old guys and gals taken care of. Dinner was about right quantity for the meal, but since we were saving room for desert, we did bring home enough for a meal. They are not inexpensive, but it is a nice meal and made for a good evening.
We had an excellent server, made sure our food would be gluten are dairy free and that the substitutes needed were just as good or better than the once listed on the menu. The dining room filled up while we were eating but the noise level was very tolerable.
My husband went here before a concert. We had the best service. Our waitress was attentive, but not overbearing. The food was all delicious. We had a crap cake appetizer that was very good. We ordered an entire tray of oysters on the half shell and they were so good. Perfectly prepared. We both really enjoyed our entrees. I had scallops and he had ahi tuna. And then for dessert we had creme brulee. Everything was fabulous. We kind of splurged because we don't get to go out on dates much and it was well worth it!
Food was amazing, our server Frank made our dining experience a 10 ,would definitely come back ,hopefully sooner than later. The value for what we ordered beat our expectations, thank you for being our new got to spot for dining when we come to the twin cities.
The service was fair, one shouldn't have to ask to have their water glass refilled. The vegetable selection was marginal and spinach has been removed from the menu.
Steak was ordered medium rare and was overcooked.
For the quality and service it was overpriced.
We had an excellent experience at this restaurant. My wife and I were in town for a weekend getaway / Vikings Packers game, went to McCormick & Schmick's Saturday night. Some of the best food I have ever had! Logan was our Waiter and he was awesome! Great job, Logan. We'll be back!
I had the crab stuffed shrimp and mashed potatoes which was very good. However, my friend had Idaho lake trout which lacked taste. She also had Squash Risotto but was disappointed in the dish. She selected the trout to have the squash risotto. It was difficult to taste the squash.
Our biggest complaint with this experience was that our server only paid attention to half of the table. Getting drink refills for the 4 at the furthest end of the table was nearly impossible. My husband's steak was undercooked but was not able to get the waiter's attention at any time to have it sent back for cooking a little longer and my crab legs were very dry like they had been overcooked. For the price, it was a very disappointing experience.
We went there for our 35th anniversary, the waitress gave us personalized anniversary menus, which we could take home with us.
Food, especially the seafood, was top notch, albeit also priced accordingly; I think it's OK to pay top price for top quality, less so to pay top price for average quality.
Lots of dark wood and comfy booths, kind of a seafood version of Convention Grill.
The classic shrimp cocktail was served with six very large shrimp although they weren't arranged tin the traditional circle around the bowl, which wasn't that big a deal but 'classic' implies conforming to early interpretations of a dish.
The seafood gumbo was very tasty although I think the broth was milk based -- I was paying the price for that over a few days.
I had the ribeye and found it pretty tasty. My wife had the shrimp Scampi and thought it was delicious, if a bit over-garlicey.
I had a wonderful glass of port wine with dessert, possibly the best port I've drunk, they are typically overly sweet in restaurants.
This is the sort of place you should go for special occasions, you will feel well taken care of when you go.
To start the bar area was fairly open. We arrived about 40 minutes early hoping to grab a few drinks and relax before dinner. We checked in. We were told none of the patio or bar tables were available because they were busy. B/S... we stood around waiting and watching as it slowly died down. Finally we after 20 minutes we got a high top.
Then we got put at a table next to the door. Awwsome.... and the portions were small. I never did get the mashed potatoes that were supposed to be with my Steak.
Won't be back.
