McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - McLean Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I often go to this location and in the past had no problems. On this trip however we were having a good-bye supper for my wife's aunt and she and my mother-in-law ordered the chicken pasta (a dish I have gotten before and enjoyed). On this occasion the meal was not satisfactory - both my mother-in-law's and her sisters pastas were dry - and the top layer of noodles were tough, as if they had either been left under a heat lamp for to long or were reheated in a microwave.
This restaurant is in an office building on Westpark Drive. Do not follow Google Maps directions! It tells you that you have arrived when you are on Rt. 7 behind the building. Food was excellent but it was slow in getting to the table. Server seemed overwhelmed but very nice. This place is kinda not worth the hassle of finding it/parking/waiting for food—which was excellent when it finally came.
Not the level of service you’d expect at a place like this. It took over 10 minutes to be acknowledged once we were seated. A server that wasn’t ours noticed we’d been sitting a while, brought us water, apologized, and let us know our server would be right with us. (They weren’t busy at all, by the way). About 5 minutes later an older gentleman literally threw down some bread and butter on our table and quickly walked away. Another 5 minutes passed and the same man pops up and shouts “crab cakes?” Turns out this same older man was our server. I don’t know his name, because he never introduced himself or apologized for the wait for that matter. To make a long story short the food was great but the server was extremely off putting and put a damper on the entire meal. With all of the great options in the area (it was our first time at this particular McCormick and Schmicks) we’ll opt for Eddie V’s or Ruth’s Chris.
We had reservations for NYE in a booth and were initially disappointed we still had to wait for about 25 minutes. The entire staff made up for it and it turned out to be a fantastic night with great food and excellent service! It was definitely worth the wait! As we've always experienced dining there, the food was absolutely the best.
Disappointed in the overall experience. Had dinner at 7 on New Year's Eve prior to going to a later party. We selected the restaurant b/c of location and because we thought it was a high-end steak house. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed the entire time, even though the restaurant was not very busy. Other waiters were more friendly and not harried. My husband ordered a rib-eye and was told they were out--- for a steak house to be out of one of the prime cuts of beef seems odd- obviously the kitchen had not planned and prepared for the holiday. The food was only mediocre and not what we expected for the price. The wine list was less than mediocre and very overpriced. We will not be returning to a McCormick & Schmick's.
I’ve visited different location, McLean location was a disappointment:
- Seated initially at worse table in entire establishment despite multiple open tables. After we were moved others were seated at same table and they asked to be moved as well.
- Waiter did not go over specials or dessert choices
- Waiter forgot order and did not bring out all appetizers
We have had Christmas dinner at the Tyson's McCormick & Schmick several times over the years and always had an extremely positive experience. This time the soup was cold and salty and the rest of the meal was only so-so. Greatly disappointed! However, the chocolate bag and the apple tart were terrific.
I have eaten at this restaurant on multiple occasions and have always felt it was worth the expense. I decided this would be an ideal place to celebrate our Christmas Eve by taking the family out for a high quality dining experience. Unfortunately, I experience was anything but high quality. While our server was polite he was barely existent throughout the evening, only coming at the obligatory check-in points. I even had to chase him down to get the check and pay for the meal, finally asking another server to help. I never did see our server at the end. It took us neatly an hour to get our meals, and when we did one member of our party was not served. His remarks was that there was an accident in the kitchen. The buttermilk battered shrimp had not been properly peeled and cleaned, and the Chesapeake fries served with them were so over-seasoned they were inedible. The pesto salmon pasta barely had any salmon, mushrooms, or artichoke hearts in it, just mostly sauce and pasta. The french fries served with one filet Mignon were heavily salted making them unpleasant to eat. Not once did the server ask how the dinner was. All in all a expense and disappointing dinner.
1st time in this restaurant and gosh. I was so disappointed. The food is excellent. Compliments to the chefs. But the service is horrendous. I literally sat there for 15 mins. Not even water was offered to me. Im not the type that goes and yells at people for service so i kept waiting until finally someone decided to help. The service was not any better after that but you I don't have time to write a book here. What a shame since I really like the food. But you won't see me back.
We were celebrating an anniversary and were disappointed in the food. The calamari appetizer has veggies in it and the the sweet potato slices weren’t cooked. Also the dish wasn’t really seasoned well. It needed salt. Then the spinach that was served with the blackened swordfish was way too salty that I couldn’t eat it. We won’t be going there for awhile. The quality has really gone down hill.
