McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
We went for our second anniversary, as noted on our reservation. The waitress congratulated us and said we'd be getting a complimentary dessert, however it never came. A little disappointing, but we weren't going to say anything. Also, the waitress smelled like she took a few smoke breaks while serving us, which was off-putting.
In the end, at least the sourdough bread and our entrees were excellent!
I had booked a reservation weeks before arriving. I’d requested a table by the window as we were celebrating a special occasion with our four children.
When we arrived, we still waited about 15 min for our table where we were seated behind a service station—probably the worst table in the restaurant. I asked for a table by the window and the host said there were none available even though he’d seen the reservation request. I asked for any other table at that point and he said that was the only six top, which was not true.
The server was sweet but didn’t know the menu. We waited for a longer than normal time with dry glasses and the waitress came back reaching of cigarette smoke once she did return to the table.
For a fish restaurant, my trout was over cooked and tasted as if it had been made an hour earlier.
I also did t like the waitress trying to sell us on some membership-that was awkward.
I hadn’t been to M&S in a couple years and won’t be returning.
We were seated right away. The food was excellent. We did not have to wait very ling between courses. We ordered calamari and it was very prompt. They kept our iced tea glasses full. We could carry on a conversation easily. Very enjoyable and we will return.
Food was good, service spotty. We were not asked about food quality until check was presented. We had a chipped water glass. It was our 57th wedding anniversary and we had advised the restaurant of that at the time the reservation was made. We also informed the server of same but no acknowledgement of same was relayed in any way by server. While I do not like service which smothers you some greater degree of attention would have been nice. The table next to us had a server who was quite good and attentive.
The front desk was very welcoming and did a nice job.
The food was bland. They ran out of red wine glasses so had to drink an expensive bottle of wine out of white wine glasses or was given the option to "wait 10 minutes until the red wine glasses were washed." What a joke. Second bad experience in a row. Will not go back.
Food quality was not equal to the price on the menu . We had reservations at 8pm but had to wait until 8:15 to get seated after showing up at 7:30 . We ordered the steak and lobster tails . Steak was ok , not great by any means . Lobster tails were either overcooked or had been under a heat lamp for too long. The top of the meat was hard and rubbery. It took 45 minutes to get our meal after ordering medium steaks. Ordered appetizers, coconut shrimp and a crap cake. That was the best part of our meal . It came out fast and hot . We will not return .
I ordered the Swordfish Casino and the food was cold and bland. My husband ordered the Sea Bass for 41.00 he got a very small portion.
In addition, our waitress Candice gave us poor service, my husbands Bailey Hayden bourbon was watery. We informed the waitress, but she asked if my husband wanted to pay for another Bourbon instead of getting him a new drink that was not watery. In addition, we waited 45 minutes to 1 hour for a fish dish. We were patient because the restaurant was busy. We asked our waitress to check in food. We waited 30 minutes for the Oarmesan crusted oysters, that was the only good thing we had.
We will not return to back to restaurant, the service and the food is not as good as we remembered it.
The filet was more medium than the medium-rare that was ordered, but still flavorful. The crab legs were fantastic. The complimentary dessert for our anniversary was delicious. Rachel was a wonderful server. The only downside was the music - not a mood setter for a nice dinner.
Food was excellant, service was not good. Had to ask waiter twice for bread and three times for crackers for our oyster appetizer. One order was brought out incorrect which they tried to compensate but was charged for the order that they gave instead of the entree that was ordered which was a lesser price. If we had not enjoyed the food would not even consider returning.
Our waiter took our order and never came back until the very end of our dinning experience. He showed up while we were asking the head waiter where he was. So, he never asked how things were, never refilled our water glasses, & never took additional drink orders. I’ve always been under the impression a waiter should stop by at least every 7 minutes. That was not the case.
We took our two girls (2,3) to McCormick's for dinner and to see the lights on the Country Club Plaza. It is one of our favorite spots to eat and they are very accommodating for our family of four. I would say this is definitely a kid friendly establishment as long as dining early (we eat dinner at 5pm with the children). Would highly recommend McCormick and Schmick's for any occasion.
We love bringing our family here for dinner when we come in the Kansas City area!! We where seated fairly quickly to our 7:30 Open table reservation. We where seated in a more cramped area that was very difficult to get in and out of but we made it work. Our server greeted us very quickly. He brought out our drinks and took our appetizer order which all came out in a timely manner. Unfortunately it was dinner that took way way too long, even for as busy as they where for a Black Friday. Our server was very apologetic a couple of different times as we waited and waited for our meals. I was quite surprised and disappointed in the fact that a manager did not check on us once and apologize also because in such a nice restaurant that would normally happen. Finally the meal did arrive and surprisingly once again a manager will accompany that if there’s any kind of problem but they did not. Needless to say it was as exceptional as always!! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone that comes to the Plaza area. There are beautiful views if you can get seated in the front windows. We don’t normally have any issues there. This was not at all our servers fault but something in the front end of the restaurant. I believe management needs to be more on top of issues like this in their restaurant because if we had been first time customers this would have made us not come back. Please do not let my mediocre review of the super slowness of our meal coming out detour you from coming here. I promise you it’s normally a wonderful restaurant with great service and above excellent food!!!
We had the worst service ever. Took forever to get drinks and appetizers- once we did get orders in they brought appetizers and forgot one. Finally brought it and then brought a salad to one guest but it had no dressing so we sent it back. Finally got our order in for dinner - they brought items for the table beside us and realized it - but they had ordered some of what we did but because they say if I. Front of us they couldn't servevtovthem but they put it under a warmer for us - horrible!!!! It was so surprising that the service was so bad. We skipped dessert - we were celebrating with friends and it definitely did not turn out like we wanted. Sad! And expensive.
