McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
We enjoy McCormick and Schmick’s so would never want to dissuade anyone from coming here. Maybe it’s because it’s restaurant week - but something was just off about this evening. Food was just ok - husbands steak was not cooked enough and mine was over cooked- I really wish there were different options for appetizers. Dessert was delicious as always. Our kids enjoyed their meal.
We went for dinner. We had a 5:15 reservation, and were quickly seated. We had a table in a back room, which held 8 tables. (This is the only area they got less than 5 stars). The room felt like a banquet room, not a finer dining restaurant. The restaurant week menu was excellent....
We went the first night of Restaurant Week and had a wonderful time. Our table was ready on time, in fact we arrived a little early and were seated right away. At first we started to be seated in the large round dining area, but the maître d' turned us around to go to the back dining area. I was a bit disappointed because I was wanting the view for our guest but was delighted in the end. We sat in one of the curtained rooms along the wall at a table for 6 - we had 5 in our party. This was perfect for us to be able to hear each other and have conversations without the extra regular noise of the restaurant. Our meals were superb. Salad and calamari were great & full size for restaurant week as were the entrees. We had the beef medallions, stuffed salmon and swordfish (not on the 3 course menu). Everything came hot and prepared perfectly. The desserts were yummy!! A couple of us took home the chocolate pie which is more like a truffle while the others were almost licking our caramel apple pie plates. The service was great too. Very attentive and never an empty water glass which is important to my husband. It's been a while since we have dined at McCormick and Schmitt's but we'll definitely be back soon.
We went for an anniversary dinner and was very pleased with every aspect of our experience. We were treated well by our server. We were surprised and delighted when you found out it was Restaurant Week. We ordered off of that menu and ordered an extra appetizer and everything came out flawlessly. I myself had the Truffled beef medallions they were cooked to perfection! While my husband had the shrimp and crab stuffed salmon it was melt in your mouth soft and the brie added a butter like quality does a dish that was perfect. It was a very unforgettable experience and we will be back for almost every anniversary thank you again.
Took our son here for Restaurant Week and were not disappointed. Food was excellent and wine/bourbon list was all encompassing, offering something for novice as well as mature tastes. Really like the booths with curtains that created privacy for individual dining parties. Will definitely ask for one of these on our anniversary!
We had a great dinner. Went during Restaurant Week and are glad we did. We were seated promptly, had great service and great food. Started with calamari (which was tasty but nothing special) and the crab and corn chowder (better choice). We had the stuffed salmon and the Hawaiian ahi tuna. Both were great choices. Loved the upside-down candied walnut apple pie. The deep dish chocolate silk was good as well. Overall, great meal and great service.
great restaurant. food is always outstanding. service was very good. waiter attentive but not obtrusive. have been here on several occasions for dates and anniversaries. never disappoints. our table was out in the open dining area and a bit on the noisy side. would have preferred a more private area, but all in all a great evening.
Hendricks and Tonics are served with cucumber, not lime; why don’t any KC restaurants know this? .The bacon wrapped shrimp - shrimp was over cooked and completely overpowered by the bacon. Pickled cucumber on sea bass was disgusting. Perhaps something wrong with it. Extremely hot (and I like spicy) and salty. Service with trainer and trainee was slow and infrequent. Steaks were a little over done and forgot the requested butter topping on wife’s steak. For the prices, value needs to be better.
This was the 5th or 6th time my wife and I have dined there and until this visit, every other time was great. We recognize that it was busy due to being NYE so some is understandable. We were seated promptly but upon arrival to our table, there was a cocktail glass from previous patron, one dirty water glass and another that was broken. Took 15 mins just for someone to come bring us water. We ordered mussels and drinks. When the mussels came out, we were not given app plates or seafood forks. My drink took appx 20 mins to come to my table and when it did it was wrong. The entrees were spot on! Lobster Bisque mashed pots are excellent! My wife ordered dessert and coffee. Coffee came out without a spoon and after requesting we never received one. Overall we had a good night but for the cost of the meal the return lacked. Like I said, always had good experiences previously.
