McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
We came for lunch for Restaurant Week. Service was good, portion sizes were large, thought they may have been smaller due to RW, but was pleasantly surprised. I also got the small order of calamari as appetizer & it was large enough to share with my wife & daughter. My daughter is going to JUCO and is in the Culinary program & has been wanting to come try M & S.
Again, another very annoying evening at McCormick & Schmick's for 2018 Restaurant Week. An odd establishment layout forces a steady stream of tray-carrying servers and dirty dish carts to weave through the line of waiting guests at the small check-in area while shuttling between the kitchen and the dining rooms. The restaurant is divided generally into two rooms, an elegant main room, under the dome, and a window-less, crowded "back room" where dirty dish carts stack up next to booths and tables. Apparently, extra tables were jammed in there for Restaurant Week resulting in narrow aisles and bumped elbows, but without the corresponding staff to attend to them. And really, what is with that back room where I have been shuttled to during each Restaurant Week? Do they not seat Restaurant Week guests anywhere else? To summarize - service slow, coffee cold, water glass empty, wait staff apologetic, food meh, overall experience poor.
We enjoy McCormick and Schmick’s so would never want to dissuade anyone from coming here. Maybe it’s because it’s restaurant week - but something was just off about this evening. Food was just ok - husbands steak was not cooked enough and mine was over cooked- I really wish there were different options for appetizers. Dessert was delicious as always. Our kids enjoyed their meal.
The selected menu options during KC Restaurant Week were a delightful variety and worked for everyone's dietary restrictions in my group of 10. To start off my dining experience, I ordered the Crab and Roasted Corn Chowder, and it was by far the best dish of the night. I would have been very pleased with a heaping bowl full of that alone. I chose the Cedar Plank Roasted Atlantic Salmon as my main course; the salmon was medium-done, a tad too done, but still tasty especially when paired with the smoked tomato jus. Overall, we all had a great time and everyone was happy with this choice. Definitely a bang for your buck with a two-course meal at $15.
We went for dinner. We had a 5:15 reservation, and were quickly seated. We had a table in a back room, which held 8 tables. (This is the only area they got less than 5 stars). The room felt like a banquet room, not a finer dining restaurant. The restaurant week menu was excellent....
We went the first night of Restaurant Week and had a wonderful time. Our table was ready on time, in fact we arrived a little early and were seated right away. At first we started to be seated in the large round dining area, but the maître d' turned us around to go to the back dining area. I was a bit disappointed because I was wanting the view for our guest but was delighted in the end. We sat in one of the curtained rooms along the wall at a table for 6 - we had 5 in our party. This was perfect for us to be able to hear each other and have conversations without the extra regular noise of the restaurant. Our meals were superb. Salad and calamari were great & full size for restaurant week as were the entrees. We had the beef medallions, stuffed salmon and swordfish (not on the 3 course menu). Everything came hot and prepared perfectly. The desserts were yummy!! A couple of us took home the chocolate pie which is more like a truffle while the others were almost licking our caramel apple pie plates. The service was great too. Very attentive and never an empty water glass which is important to my husband. It's been a while since we have dined at McCormick and Schmitt's but we'll definitely be back soon.
We went for an anniversary dinner and was very pleased with every aspect of our experience. We were treated well by our server. We were surprised and delighted when you found out it was Restaurant Week. We ordered off of that menu and ordered an extra appetizer and everything came out flawlessly. I myself had the Truffled beef medallions they were cooked to perfection! While my husband had the shrimp and crab stuffed salmon it was melt in your mouth soft and the brie added a butter like quality does a dish that was perfect. It was a very unforgettable experience and we will be back for almost every anniversary thank you again.
Took our son here for Restaurant Week and were not disappointed. Food was excellent and wine/bourbon list was all encompassing, offering something for novice as well as mature tastes. Really like the booths with curtains that created privacy for individual dining parties. Will definitely ask for one of these on our anniversary!
We had a great dinner. Went during Restaurant Week and are glad we did. We were seated promptly, had great service and great food. Started with calamari (which was tasty but nothing special) and the crab and corn chowder (better choice). We had the stuffed salmon and the Hawaiian ahi tuna. Both were great choices. Loved the upside-down candied walnut apple pie. The deep dish chocolate silk was good as well. Overall, great meal and great service.
