McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Irvine Ratings and Reviews
Our favorite stake & sea food restaurant was closed for remodelling. We picked this restaurant because they had crab legs on the menu. We were not disappointed. My husband had the filet mignon and My friend and I had the Alaskan king crab. What a treat. The crab was perfect and delicious. My husband really enjoyed his steak. Service was very good. Prices are comparable to other restaurants with the same type of menu. The crab legs were reasonably priced at $40. In fact the crab legs are $60 at our other favorite restaurant. I think we found a new favorite restaurant.
Wait time for our entrees was unacceptable: orderd dinners at 5:30 and they were not served until 6:40.we were told that kitchen was short staffed. Our server was cold and indifferent, with an attitude that should not be seen in public. We are frequent diners of Opentable ( since 2006) and rarely complain. Would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. By the way,
Food was no great shakes either.
I was seated within a few minutes of arriving. Tyler, my server greeted me, immediately, and took my drink order. They had a very good menu, for their Veterans Day special. The plank salmon I had was excellent. Again, Tyler checked with me regularly. I complimented him and also the food, to the mananger, and thanked him for the free meals for Veterans. The manager was friendly, and very observant, checking on the service throughout the restaurant during the meal.
I first want to say THANK YOU for honoring our Veterans by offering a free meal to them
We made reservations on line. When we arrived we were seated almost immediately. Our waitress April was at our table before we sat down to take our drink order. She was back shortly with our drinks and a warm basket of bread. Because I am a veteran I was given a special menu for the day. My wife was given the regular menu. My menu had ten choices for dinner. I ordered the Salmon Rigatoni. My wife ordered the Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon. Both meals arrived with in a few minutes. They were hot and very good. Although the prices are a bit high ( most things on the main menu run in the 30 plus dollar bracket) the food is very good. We really enjoyed ourselves and will use this restaurant for special occasions.
Thank you again for honoring our Veterans and thank you to our waitress April for the big THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE.

I went to McCormick & Schmick's because they were offering a free entree to veterans. I brought a date. Overall food selection is good; fish (what they were once famous for), beef, chicken. Waiter was very attentive, bartender was great.
HOWEVER, the bar top was dirty, looked like crumbs from last meal plus spillage from drinks. Bartenders have to reach over their well drink bottles and equipment to reach bar top. Not ergonomic at all. I can see why drinks are spilled getting to customer.
Dining room seating is pretty packed together; booths and table for 4-8 people. Place was very busy so noise level was pretty high but not unbearable.
Frankly, it was a better place before it was acquired by Landry's.
Food prices are typical for OC: My cedar planked salmon's price was $29.00. My date's Caesar salad was $17.50 (very large portion) Food was very good, given the dinner rush. Not too long of a wait for getting our order placed and served.
Celebrating an early Veterans Day celebration with some nice drinks (Bloody Mary's, red wine & IPA beer) at the bar on Sunday, November 5th! My father (3 years U.S. Marine vet) & myself (11 years U.S. Navy vet) enjoyed a late lunch/early dinner complimentary meal along with our spouses at this excellent McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant in Irvine! Our overall dining experience was outstanding as usual with great food from the main entrée menu, excellent waiter service and an amazing ambiance!!!
I have been to the restaurant several times in the past. I must say that this was my best experience. Everything , the service, the food, how quickly we were served and seated. Perhaps in part it was because we arrived much earlier then usual 12:30 pm instead of mid to late evening.
Over cooked steak, Other then that great service good drinks. Made reservations on a Saturday night but didn’t need them got there early and was seated right away. Just to bad my medium rare steak was cooked medium well. I didn’t say anything, knowing they would have cooked me a better steak while I watched my date eat her meal.
Hey open table how about not putting a 50 word minimum on reviews so I could have just said the steak was over cooked !!
I asked for a table because the booths are uncomfortable. We were relegated to the bar area. Service there, for lunch, is very poor. The bartender is overworked. This is the second time this has happened. M&S needs to improve its service in the bar at lunchtime.
Our server was great and the food was very nice. The restaurant itself was a beautiful charming room. The spread they served with the warm wonderful bread was terrible. Why would a company with such high qualities serve a mix of margarine and whoever.I asked for REAL butter and the waiter got me some from the chef.I was happy
I came to celebrate my 52nd birthday, I asked for acknowledgement of my birthday to be somewhere on my table, they went one step further and put my name on the menu! It was not pointed out to me, I had to stumble upon it but it was a very nice touch. We sat longer than expected before one of the server's noticed us and saved the night. Thank you Greg, you were awesome. Our server was Seth, never served us, never acknowledged us, one server look at me hesitant turned his head and kept walking. I'm really happy Greg was working that night because I was surely out the door.
Went to celebrate my Daughter starting school and she wanted Lobster Mashed Potatoes. I ordered a steak along with 3 others in our party. One medium rare and 3 medium well. They came back charred even the medium rare, the others in the party that ordered fish received their food cold. The manager took off one plate and gave us free desert platter which was exceptional!! But the Chef needs to be reprimanded for the way he prepared the food and sent it out just horrible will not go back and take a chance on that expensive of a meal.
Stayed at the hotel across the street before a flight the next day so this was convenient. But not a good choice. Very slow service in spite of being nearly empty. Overcooked seafood, both shrimp and salmon pasta. Very rich sauce on salmon with dry pieces of salmon. Tried to pick out the vegies and fish but still got digestive problems from the sauce. Seems like they should know how to cook seafood out here on the coast. Expensive for what you got, too.
Hubby and I saw their 3-course dinner deal and went to try it out. My expectations were high because it is a Landry's chain, being quite pleased with Mastro's, Morton's, Rusty Pelican, Bubba, etc. Clam chowder was good and filling, served with a small package of crackers. But, came the beef medallion... tough and quite tasteless, which needed a splash more of their gravy. Shrimp that came with it was also a bit chewy and thankfully not fishy. Creme brulee is creme brulee, not special. I love the coffee. Our server, April, was super nice and attentive. She became worried when she found-out that I was unhappy. She insisted on replacing it with their filet mignon but dinner was over for me at this point. She would be the reason I would give this restaurant another shot, someday.
Waiter was rude, did not refill water, passed plates in front of us and generally tried to hurry us when the restaurant was practically empty at 5 PM on a Friday evening. Food was very average - definitely not worth the high prices. Not what I was expecting from a McCormick's a chain which I have eaten at for years.
We were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary. For a place that claims to specialize in seafood, they missed the mark horribly. My scallops and my wife's seafood mix were all overcooked. Granted, they did waive the corkage fee and provided an pretty significant dessert. Regardless, forget this and go to King's Fish House off the 5 at El Toro Blvd.
My friend and I go out to lunch every Thursday when we are both in town. We have been to M&S before and have enjoyed it.
I had the lunch special with salad and a salmon dish which was outstanding. My friend had the Scottish salmon which he really enjoyed.
I had the upside down apple pie with walnut cake (not sure exact description) which was fantastic. We both had coffee which was good quality.
Our only complaint was our waitress was not able to serve us the whole time we were there as her shift ended during our meal. It took a long time for the dessert to come and to make the transition. We weren't in a rush as we are both retired, but it was a little annoying.
