McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Irvine Ratings and Reviews
Open Table asked if it was a special occasion and I checked Birthday since we were celebrating our daughter’s birthday, but it was not acknowledged in any way.
Food was great, service was adequate.
A simple dinner salad option would be nice rather than having to choose one of the elaborate salad options.
We were seated 20 minuets after our reservation. Took 45 minuets to get our food and it was cold. Our waitress was no where to be found until we would summon another waiter for service. They ran out of many food and drink options on the menu. Very bad service and food.
I dined here with my wife, parents and sister on Christmas Day. We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation and were not served our food until 1 hour and 15 minutes after our order. The food came out lukewarm for my mother and sister’s pasta dishes and was returned to the kitchen to reheat. My rib eye steak was cooked just how I ordered it yet lacked seasoning leaving it very bland. The mahi mahi my father ordered was very, very small and could reasonably be eaten in two to three bites. The seafood trio my wife ordered was also very small with just two grilled shrimp, three fried shrimp and a small piece of salmon. Overall, service was not only slow but the food was small, relatively tasteless and a poor value for the price. While it is understandable to have disruptions due to Christmas Day, there was nothing done by the staff to ensure the shortcomings were met. We did not complain to the staff even though many others had done so. I’ve been to other McCormick locations and had an entirely different experience. I’d pass on this location!
One of the few places open on Christmas Day, you must remember to make a reservation through OpenTable (or call the restaurant), or you may not get in. And remember, OpenTable may not have the time, or even availability, for you to choose from. We were lucky in that we reserved, at the last minute in the morning of Christmas Day, and only two reservation times remained available.
Our Christmas dinner turned disaster. The restaurant was so unorganized. We made our reservation but they kept giving the table to other parties. They finally seated us 30mins after our reservation at the bar area. We called for manager but did not get helpful outcome. All the staffs were poorly trained and seemed over worked. We waited 1.5 more hour to find that the food we ordered never came. So we left with big disappointment after spending 3 hours at the restaurant. Do not recommend this place. Especially for special occasion.
Worst Christmas Ever
We had 6:30 reservation that we made a year ago and we were coming in from Northern Calif, We did not get seated Until after 7 in an overflow area, not the dining room, After being ignored, and told they were out of Mussels for an appetizer and Heineken Beer , we were served salad. At nearly 830 pm we were told that our dinner would be there in three minutes. Instead nothing ever came so we got up and walked out with no Christmas dinner. No excuse from the waiter ( who we ran into downstairs serving another table) or Manager. We were at a Hotel with nothing open so imagine how we felt as a family.
This establishment should be ashamed.
Had our Christmas dinner here. As a party of eight on Christmas, I expected there to be issues as it was busy. We had reservations for 630 pm and showed up early in hopes of getting seated early. Nope. We got seated at 7. Ordered drinks quickly a few minutes after we sat downs and ordered shortly after. We then began our hour and fifteen minute wait for our food. When we did get our food, the food was bland and mushy. The $60 porterhouse steak I ordered was tough and lacked flavor. Will not be coming here again
Excellent food, good service, except we had to wait and wait and wait and wait for the meal to be served (note: soup and salad courses were served promptly). The slow delivery of the main course was no doubt due to the fact this was a 5:30 PM reservation on Christmas day. Other tables near us seemed to suffer the same problem. Our server came by several time to apologize for the delay of the main course. Perhaps the restaurant booked too many reservations for the time window and both my husband and I, who have been here before, were disappointed the proprietors seemed to lose their perspective on reservations vs. service.
We went to Mc Cormick and Schmick for Christmas dinner this year as we did not have family nearby. We eat here occasionally and generally enjoy the experience. There were many large parties nearby which made it very noisy as we were seated in a corner. The large parties were seated first (even though their reservations were after ours). There were not many restaurants even open om Christmas and reservations were limited. Our biggest disappointment was not having the availability of a traditional Christmas meal as one of the options
Christmas Day was disappointing. We have had wonderful experiences in the past, but the restaurant wasn't prepared for the crowds. By 2 pm they had run out of two steak offerings and two desserts. We told them we were celebrating two birthdays, but there was no acknowledgement. The tables were so crowded together that the servers could barely get around our table without one of the diners having to move each time, disturbing the tables near us. It was an exhausting experience. I had swordfish and it was decent, but small and dry and not worth the cost. I would not return on a holiday. The filet, however, was superb, very tender. Our waitress was cheerful and did her best.
We've eaten here several times and enjoyed it but this time was a miss. Two steak items on the menu were not available. At a steakhouse. Get it together! Service was excruciatingly slow. The waitstaff was not particularly attentive. They seemed stretched too thin for the number of people at the restaurant. Not in a hurry to go here again.
Last minute Christmas reservations were met with gracious humor. Our beautiful hostess, took the time to seat us comfortably. Service was excellent without considering the amount of family meals being served.
We started with a Stella Artoise for my husband and a Bloody Mary for me to accompany our Fanny Bay oysters which were fresh and perfectly briney. He ordered Beef tornadoes, chared rare, and I the Monkfish for "across the table" surf and turf with a bottle of Stag's Leap merlot to wash it down. Both meals were prepared as ordered and delivered in a timely fashion.
As full as we were, we couldn't resist the chocolate cheesecake of which we ended up taking the majority home along with half a bottle of wine. To be shared later.
I am happy to recommend McCormack and Schmick.
Our family enjoys our Christmas dinner here, for two years now. The service was excellent with Jeff as our server. He anticipated our needs yet gave us plenty of time to savor. We started with delicious handcrafted cocktails. I had a pear martini and my husband had the Long Island iced tea. That was the best part of the meal for me. My Mahi-mahi was a bit dry and over cooked on a bed of room temperature risotto. We had a side of asparagus which was perfectly cooked. My son had the ribeye which I tried. It was delicious! The other dishes around the table seemed to be enjoyed. Another note, it was quite cold when we arrived; l mentioned it to the hostess and she had it remedied immediately! All in all, it was a very good meal.
tall ceilings so the place was busy but noise wasn't an issue, relatively easy to carry on a conversation.
food was good, everyone was happy with their salads and entrees.
Our waitress was a ditz. my impression was she was new, but that's no excuse. a fine dining establishment charging theses prices should train their people better.
I have been to the restaurant a number of times for lunch.
I was surprised that there was no valet parking for a Tuesday night dinner. Later, I did discover that the restaurant validated the parking. Also, it was confusing that I had to exit the parking lot at a different location than I entered.
The food itself was very good - salmon for my friends and swordfish for me.
However, the air conditioning was super cold and my friends and I were very uncomfortable. I asked the waitress if they could adjust the temperature and they did adjust it for a while but then it cooled down again.
My recommendation: don't sit on the window side of the restaurant but closer to the kitchen where it is warmer. Or, if it is cold, ask to move to a warmer table.
Went there expecting it to be packed during this Christmas season, there wasn’t anyone in there we have a 645 reservation. It took forever to get drinks forever to get appetizers and forever to order. The food was just OK nothing to write home about. you think they’d be at the top of their game, Their standard should be as high as a Flemings, Ruth Chris, Moton’s or etc. Would not recommend and would not go back.
We were very excited to come for dinner and try a different Landry’s restaurant. We were very disappointed in the quality of food attached to the higher price. This being a higher end restaurant, we were expecting a good if not exceptional meal. The food was not good quality, the steak and fish were very disappointing. The meal left a lot to be desired. The one good part of our visit was the service. When you spend $250-300 on a meal you expect a good meal. We will not return or recommend to our friends.
Our server was not very friendly. He not only seemed grumpy and offended at the prospect of our group paying with separate checks, but he also was not wholly forthcoming about the price of the appetizer sampler. We were distinctly unimpressed with his service, although we appreciated the hostess and the assistant who refilled our water glasses.
I remember this restaurant chain as a more elegant restaurant with white table cloths. However, I found no table cloths on the tables, so the restaurant did not look elegant. Food was good, but a little pricy for a restaurant that looked on the casual side. Still, it is a decent choice for casual dining.
The Restaurant was over crowded and the noise level so high that conversation ranged from difficult to impossible. Food arrived in spurts with long waits in between. Salads arrived after nearly an hour with the main course appearing 3 minutes later. The food was good, the service was less than adequate due more to the server to patron ratio being low than than ineptitude of the Waite staff.
