McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
I chose this venue for an opportunity to meet up with an old friend from 25+ years ago. I wanted someplace that had great food, and a great atmosphere. And, a place that I knew wouldn't be noisy, and had excellent service. I'm proud to say that I chose wisely. Their service was top notch. Our dinner group was able to dine in style, and converse without distraction. The food was excellent, and portions were just right. We never felt hurried, and spent a couple hours enjoying the restaurant, food and company. Would definitely recommend.
A perfect spot for late evening dining downtown after a concert. None of us wanted a heavy 'red meat' meal since we knew we wouldn't be dining until after 8:30 -8:45 pm. If seafood is to your liking, you can't go wrong with Mc & S.
Our waiter, "Andrew" was exceptionally polite, attentive and knew his 'stuff' as he told us the specials of the evening. His wait-service was impeccable and we extended our appreciation by leaving him a generous tip.
Being that we didn't arrive until 8:15 pm, the 'noise' level was low which was fortunate since the four of us do not like loud establishments. Be that as it may, we have never found Mc & S to be a place with excessive noise which is why it remains one of our 'go to' dining places.
We all had the 'mixed seafood grill' which I highly recommend. The calamari appetizer and fresh oysters were top notch. A great Saturday evening meal.
Called before we came in afternoon to be sure they had wild salmon not farm salmon
Person checked with someone and they said yes Felix salmon
Got there it was not true
Food portion was very low
4 scallops and virtually no spinach or asparagus
Waitress had an attitude
Manager said he was sorry offered nothing
This dining experience was for a special occasion, our 25th wedding anniversary. The food was simply outstanding, from the seared tuna for an apitizer, to the scallops my wife chose and the bone in ribeye I selected. The best steak I have had in a very long time and worth every penny.
Service was also excellent. The waitress, (sorry I'm old school, a female is a waitress, and a male a waiter) paid close attention to our table, explained the menu selections, and seemed to enjoy her position, and when we were finished presented us with a desert to mark the occasion.
I also enjoyed the quiet ambience. I grow weary of restutants that seem to think you need to hear today's top 40 blasted in your ear while you are trying to dine, making conservation a chore.
All in all it was a very good experience which we fully intend to repeat at our earliest convience.
Thanks for making our special day even more special.
It was New Year’s Eve. BUT, wouldn’t a restaurant want to be at their best on a night like NYE? The service was terribly slow and the food was sub par. We’ve been to this chain in another city so we thought we would give it a try in Indy. Not impressed and we won’t be back. The only saving grace was the prosecco sangria. Excellent drink!
We unfortunately had to request on multiple “ standard items” including water, bread plates, spoon to stir iced tea, etc. The couple next to us had to ask for silverware after their food came out and our shrimp was over cooked on both our entrees. It was just unfortunate for what should have been a nice New Year’s Eve dinner.
Not only is M&S one of the finest restaurants I’ve dined in, they go out of their way to make veterans feel welcomed and appreciated.
I’d urge any veteran to support this establishment. They pay you back by providing a meal to you and your wife (or husband) on or near Veteran’s Day. They even take reservations for the day.
I can’t express how great the food is, top notch service and an ambience second to none. Worth the drive and always worth the money. Good food at reasonable prices.
our evening was wonderful!! Our server, Lindsay, was awesome. she knew the menu and gave us good recommendations. the food was out of this world so good!! I had the Mahi with the most amazing brussel sprouts!!! Hubby had a stuffed salmon that was tasty too!!! If you want a nice evening out, great service, and amazing food, this is the place to go!! and don't even get me started on the desserts we had!!
Server didn’t seem too concerned about our service. I understand it was a busy night but it was almost as if she just didn’t want to be there at all and was in a bad mood immediately when she approached our table. Honestly, if you work in the food industry or customer service in any capacity, you should understand that emotions get left at the door and your overall demeanor may greatly effect your experience and more importantly your customers, their recommendations, your tip %, and reviews.
The quality of our experience did not match up with the expense of the food. We had hoped for a special evening, but the caliber of the food, the timing of the service, and the overall ambience were just average or slightly below average. Our drinks arrived after we had already finished the appetizers and were followed Almost immediately by the entree. Desert was quite slow in arriving. There are too many excellent restaurants in Indy for us to return to this one.
Service was outstanding! Went on NYE and it was fairly busy (as expected), but our orders were brought out in a timely manner.
The food was excellent! Ordered a bone in ribeye, medium cooked. It came out more medium-well. Was still delicious!
Would definitely recommend to others!
Terrible service by Ariana I think that’s our waiters name. Max from the kitchen did more for us than our waiter. Our waiter took our food orders but did not take our drink orders. She brought our soup bowl to share among three people with only two bowls. Has to request for an extra bowl since we were a family of three. The bread came late. She only came to our table three times only. Felt rushed and it wasn’t even that busy. Max brought us our food, replaced our bread order request, refilled our drinks and came back a couple more times to check up on us. Excellent service, Max!!! We usually schedule dinners for special occasion cause we’ve always loved the great service and food. This time the experience from our waitress was terrible. We spoke to the manager on shift and gave credit to the gentleman that took care of our table for the most part. We asked Max if he received tips and he explained how the workload at Schmick’s was is a shared effort and what ever tip I gave would be split. I hesitated leaving our waitress a nice tip. This is too bad. I would rather tip Max. Thank you, Max. Our dinner experience was pleasure because of you.
Two of us ordered something we never received. Did not get offered refills . Never got the steak sauce I asked for. The food was good. The waitress was nice. As pricey as this place is I would think you would have one server just on refills and ensuring everyone is getting food they ordered.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner, and it was our first time going. Service was accurate but slow, even though they weren't busy at all since we ate early to avoid the crowds. The food was amazing though. We didn't have anything left to take home! We'll definitely be back!
I dine with this restaurant frequently but this time the service was slow, meaning the kitchen not the waiter. My meal was incorrect and was remade but my rice was cold and chewy and it took forever. My total time dining was 1 hour 40 min. I had to rush the waiter to bring my check and that was not quick. Not sure i will be returning for awhile. Normally i have great experiences here but definitely not this time
My 8 oz steak was over cooked (medium well ordered and well done cooked) and dry with very little to no flavor. My dates 6 oz steak was initially undercooked (well done ordered medium cooked) but came back out cooked to well done and hers was full of juice and great flavor. Waitress was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu and what you guys had to offer. The Long Islands were really good but not worth 12 dollars wish I had payed attention to how much they were.
Very efficient to make reservations, staff was very friendly and efficient. As soon as we arrived we were seated, ambiance was excellent, service excellent, food choices were good and the quality of the food was outstanding. Highly recommend this restaurant. The location, central to downtown was perfect as well.
We had dinner before going to see Tran-Siberian Orchestra, so we had a time table we needed to be done with dinner. Andrew, our waiter, did a great job spacing out our meal and ensuring we always had fresh hot bread. Appetizer, shrimp cocktail, shrimp could be a little bigger, but cocktail sauce did not disappoint. We both had filet and it was just a bit overcooked, but still very tasty - we asked for it Medium - hot pink center. The truffle mashed potatoes were delicious and my wife had the goat cheese mashed and loved them. We were not sure about going back to M&S as our last visit was less than desirable, but service, food and ambiance have all improved.
We live out of town and were in Indy for a concert with our daughter, son-in-law , and my mom. My husband and I had eaten at McCormick & Schmick's last year when in town for another concert, and we loved it, so we wanted to take our family there. It's a consistently wonderful place to have a great meal. The service is attentive and friendly, from the hostess to the server to the server's assistant (I hate to call them bussers because they're more than that). The food was delicious; our table had steaks, a Cajun pasta dish, lobster, and oysters Rockefeller. We asked the bartender to create a special martini for us and they did--it was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return.
