McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
We came to dinner here after dining at several other McCormick and Schmick’s locations over the years for my husbands birthday...which is also valentine’s day. No happy hour menu even though we were there during happy hour because of the “holiday”. Got seated relatively quickly but wasn’t really impressed with the overall expierience at this location.
This was our first time at the restaurant and we went on Valentine' Day. Making reservations was easy, thanks to OpenTable. The food was amazing. The service was top notch. The noise level was a bit much but did not take away from the experience. I would definitely recommend to any of my friends and family.
I know it was Valentines Day , but the tables were crammed in there. The service was so so. Had to ask for bread and then only got a 1/4 of a loaf. My steak was room temperature at best . And required A-1 . No real flavor ( 39.00 Ribeye) Tried three times to sell us on their rewards card . Not worth it for me .
It started from the beginning. The hostess left without telling us to follow her, she stood there and let us get seated before telling us we were at the wrong table; the appetizer dishes were not removed before our entrees arrived which was a hassle because there was no room on the table; the Chilean Sea Bass for $38 should have had more than one slice of cucumber and few beans; and the Lump Crab Cakes were soggy and resembled canned crab. The atmosphere was dingy -- not as pleasing as we remembered -- it needs a makeover. Needless to say, not a good dining experience.
It was just another Seafood place where they take the time and stick it to you.
I had the twin Lobsters all that came with it was some mash potatoes & a cup of soup
It used to be you could order a 1/2 doz or a dozen oysters at a time, now you pay for each one.
All they want to do is charge you for each item you get with your meal as extra. They should
have a base price meal with all the fixtures that go with it . I can find better seafood
at Bonefish grill than here. If the food is real good & service is excellent I don't mined
I ll pay . Seem like they were in a hurry to get you out of there
Dined at M & S several years ago and was so disappointed in the food I haven't returned. Tried it again 2/13, ahead of the Valentine's rush. Food was interesting and exceptional and the kitchen was relatively fast, but the service was highly suspect. Waitress was very friendly and offered suggestions, which I normally use as a caution to avoid those items. She returned to the table three times to check on us before ordering. Each time I requested a cocktail and she didn't take the order. She brought the sourdough bread and didn't notice the table had not been set with bread plates. I spread my cocktail napkin to use as a plate and she still didn't notice when returning to check on us. Finally ordered cocktails with the meal. Salads were delish and entrees were ample and creative. The green beans were fresh, but not cooked anywhere close to al dente. It was difficult to even cut them with a knife, however, once in my mouth, it was delicious to eat fresh green beans in February.
WOW! **10 stars ......Shawn did and amazing job as or server tonight. He was very personable and really seemed to have an handle on working the table. He introduced himself and as if we had been in before. We said we had. He asked about drinks and also offered bread. When he came back with bread and drinks we were ready to order our meal. 8oz filet butterflied with a side of goat cheese mashed potatoes. an 8oz fillet not butterflied with goat cheese mash potato's and ceaser salad.
McCormicks really needs to do at least one appetizer that is not seafood.
The pace of the meal was very good, and empty plates were quickly removed. Our Tea never went unfilled. He came back to check on us several times to make sure everything was great. After dishes were all gone we ordered dessert. The two most favorite on the menu. A chocolate bag, and walnut crusted upside down apple pie. These are both to die for they are so good.
We had bonus coupons left from buying Christmas gifts we got to use tonight, And we had gift card sent from corporate for a not so great meal we had months ago. All that took out total down to less then half. I ended up giving him 30$tip on 130.00 bill. We found out from a Manager we were Shawn's first table out of training. I told the manager he do amazingly well. I hope Shawn continues to like his job. I just wish I would have gotten the name of his cologne. It smelled very citrusy. Shawn will be a real asset. The two times prior to this visit we had issues with our server, issues with being cold by the window, issues with cold food, issues with running out of dessert items. GIVE HIM A RAISE!!
I have been a long time patron of McCormick and Schmidts and I believe they have lost their edge. It is now indistinguishable from many other mid-tier restaurants. I had their salmon in butter sauce which was marketed as a premier menu item. It was fine, but not memorable. For the price ($30), I've had much better. That said, our waiter was delightful.
I had limited time for dining on February 10th. We were given a free appetizer coupon from the Valet Captain. I ordered an appetizer and the Pan Seared Mai Mai and a caesar salad, the ceasar salad dressing had horseradish which I do not like, I was charged for the appetizer and had to have it removed and instead of getting Mai Mai as ordered they gave me Salmon by mistake. I did not have time to have it recooked. Not the best experience for sure!
This was my second time dining here and once again, it was amazing. I took a friend out for dinner and she absolutely finished everything on her plate which is rare since most places we eat at her plate is never empty. Our waiter was also very kind and patient, he explained everything very nicely and as very informative about our orders. Overall, I plan to be back again.
We were seated immediately and offered menus and got the first drinks pretty quickly. Food came out slowly and we had to notify the waiter we were ready for dessert after the table had been cleared of dinner dishes for about 20 minutes. When dessert came out the ice cream was soup on the cobblers. Lobster tails looked shaved of the top round meat with each piece being pretty flat. Entree plates were loaded with mashed potatoes but meats were small. Nothing like you get at Ruth's Chris or PFChange. Go there for cozyiness, wine and atmosphere.
It was a first date and Lance was very appreciative and attentive to this fact. My date and I were there for 3 hours and were the last people in the dining room, but never once felt hurried to leave. My date could not say enough about how much she loved the experience.
We were there for Devour. I shared the lobster tails and beef medallions with a friend. The lobster was scrumptious, as were the potatoes accompanying them. I liked the steak quite a bit. We ordered medium rare.....it might have been a little undercooked even for that level. However, the other two at the table ordered the tuna. One friend felt that the tuna was overcooked. I tried my husband's - thought the doneness and consistency were very good. However, it looked like there was supposed to be a sauce around the dish, but it had somehow dried up. The tuna needed a little something to flavor it (which the sauce would have been great for)! Also, the server left my husband's beer at the bar too long and it arrived without a head on it. I know these are very small details, but this is a group who have very high expectations! :) Thanks.
We were seated for our 8 o'clock reservation at 8:30. We had a glass of wine each that came timely but the bread was slow, salads came slower and the entree of scallops came about 10 minutes after the salad plates were removed. We shared a dessert. All of that came to just short of $130 without tip. The waitress was good in that she brought the food when ready but the kitchen was slow. She made good recommendations for wine and dessert.
We visited during the Devour Indy celebration and had a good meal. 2 of us ordered from the Devour menu and the other 2 had regular menu items (fried shrimp, crab cakes, lobster bisque). All of us were pleased with the flavor of our food and its presentation. One of us was celebrating a birthday and received a complimentary creme brulee which was a nice surprise. The service was a little slow (the server seemed overwhelmed by several tables with large parties all wanting separate checks) and the music was extremely loud, making it difficult to hear our friends across the table. Overall, it was a good experience and we would return.
We started with a disappointingly long time to get served in a crowdless bar as we waited for our time to be seated, but our service after seating was above average. The menu is plentiful and the chef specials were very nicely done. I've never been disappointed with a meal's price or quality here and this visit was no different. We were going to an event at the Hilton after dinner and used the convenient $5 valet service as well. I nice night out with dear friends!
