The service was slow and their system for bringing meals to the table resulted in food not being hot when served
Good meeting place for friends and family. Met friends there during layover. Service good and great food. Quite, so conversation is possible.
very good food and very good service at lunch for a group of five. The place is never crowded at lunch and I only hope the restaurant stays open for lunch since it doesn't seem too popular in the area even though the food and prices are competitve.
Always love McCormick And Schmicks. Great food, great service and nice atmosphere. This time around especially the wait staff was younger, newer but very eager to please. There are lots of new restaurants cropping up near them, but this restaurant is still tried and true and will always be on my list of favorites. And compared to the newer restaurants, I can actually have a conversation here and hear what my dining partners are saying. Great place for deep conversation over a great meal.
This was my first time trying this restaurant and probably my last. It’s a good thing I had a gift card to cover the cost because it was definitely not worth it. You pay for the name on the outside of the building because it wasn’t for the food, presentation, or service.
I was so disappointed! Service was terrible, I even spoke with the manager half way though our meal, but it didn't help. To my surprise the manager didn't even come by the table, tacky. Drinks were slow to the table and the same drink was prepared wrong twice, bread with a tiny little butter for 6 people, my dinner came with my sisters salad like it was an appetizer, waiter never came to the table to see if we needed anything after our dinner was delivered, desert with no utensils to eat it with you get the picture. There are too many great places to eat in LA so I wont be back
As always had an enjoyable time from the dining experience to include our wait staff.
First time - and certainly not the last time we will visit McCormick & Shmick. The food and service were both amazing - one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. Don't forget the side of garlic mashed potatoes as well. Definitely going back, especially if Adam is our server! Thanks for the awesome birthday dinner M&S.
It was our first date night since having our baby boy! The service was a little rocky... our server had a mix up with my drink order (rosé champs instead of the rosé wine), then we ran out of sauce for the calamari- he was supposed to bring more but never did.. My hubby ordered lobster tails- the meal came out sans fixings (ie: drawn butter .. drool). The server took a while to return with said fixings.. My Chilean sea bass was over cooked, making it a tad hard and dry. Not the typical melt-in-your-mouth experience I’m used to. BUT the dessert was amazing!! :)
We had a fairly large party of 7 and several of the dishes were cold when they arrived at our table
GREAT FOOD. BAD SERVICE.
server got our order wrong and all he said was "its ok just get what you want next time" (SERIOUSLY!! WTF!!). he charged us for other peoples desserts. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO HERE NOR WILL I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
It took a long time to receive our food. Once received I wasn't thrilled with the piece of salmon that was on my trio plate (tasted fishy). It also took an even longer time to receive our check.
the service , food and ambiance were excellent as usual.
The food was wonderful and our hostess was wonderful. We would definitely recommend.
At our first visit back few months ago fish was not fully fried. It was half cooked. I thought give u another try. Same result at our second visit too.
Fabulous sea food, super service, and outstanding menu overall with great wine/drink list.
Disappointing experience - not characteristic of other McCormick & Schmick's we've visited.
First problem was that the restaurant said they didn't have our Open Table reservation. I had called earlier in the day to move up our original reservation only to find out they didn't have it. If I hadn't called, we would have arrived with no reservation at all. When we arrived, I showed them the emailed confirmation and they still insisted that they didn't have the reservation.
Second problem was the poor quality of the entrees. Lump crab cakes were small, poorly plated (broken and mashed up) and fishy tasting. Bourbon pork chop was cold and over cooked so badly it was almost inedible due to being so tough. Other elements of the meal were acceptable, not remarkable.
Finally, our waiter (John) must have been having a bad night - never introduced himself, forgot our wine order which only arrived well into the meal, and added a charge for a service we neither requested or received.
Overall, not at all the Anniversary/New Years experience we had been looking forward to.
Went for New Year's Eve and had a very nice dinner. Atmosphere was great, food was great, and our waitress was very attentive.
Had a hilarious early family New Years Eve. Fantastic food for picky eaters across seafood and meat options. Were seated in a semi-private area. Lovely drinks, nice ambience with a touch of class. THANKS - we'll be back!
The server was great; One of the best I have had in the past. However since a lot of items are fried like Popcorn Shrimp and Fish & Chips they should use better oil. At least I had during the night a lot of stomach trouble. Also the Lobster Bisque was far too salty and too creamy. The fried fish was layered on the fries (chips) and made both extremely greasy. For the price it should be much better. I do not think I would repeat a visit.
Great food for food price! Terrible server and waiting time.
We arrived 15 min prior to our reservation and were told that we will be seated closer to our reservation.
30 min after our reservation time they told us that it will be "sometime" later and that there were 3 reservation still ahead of us. On top of that they said if we do sit, the food will take a minimum of 2hr after ordering.
What I thought was really foul was that they were still taking reservation with people migrating in and being told the exact same message I had in the beginning even after they just told me about the ridiculous wait.
Dear OpenTable, since this god forsaken place was a complete disaster, we tried to make another reservation ONLY to be denied as we "had" a reservation and could not use the app. Kept telling us to "call" to cancel. I'm not sure which market is more important but it definitely did not feel like me, the end user. So disappointed!
Disappointed that many options on the menu weren't available, what was served was below average, dessert looked & tasted like the kitchen had given up hope.
Very poor experience. Steaks were not cooked consistently. Parts were over cooked. Service was extremely slow. We arrived at 6:30 and our meal ended nearly 3 hours later. Food was under seasoned. The staff was overworked and therefor not attentive to our needs. We had to flag Dow a bus girl to get water after our waiter failed to bring back the water. We didn’t receive bread until 1 1/2 hours into our meal. My partner never received his salad and the goat cheese mash didn’t include any goat cheese. My brother in law never got his mushrooms and was later told the kitchen had run out. Apparently the restaurant didn’t anticipate the crowd for Christmas. Inadequate compensation was offered. The restaurant offered to comp us an appetizer and to NOT charge for the missing items. Real poor management. The person in charge of private parties talked to us at the end of the meal when we declined to order dessert. It would have much more appreciated if management had come out a lot sooner to talk to us and the other diners.
Kitchen was two hours backed up. Place had run out of basic things like bread, crab, lobster etc. People were yelling loudly after they didn't get anything for 2 hours. The waiters were great trying to hold it together. We did not walk out like some. Eventually food arrived, a sad plate, and if it were not that it was Christmas Day and a special meal I would have not bothered to write this review. Mr Fertitta owner of the Landry's Inc and Houston Rockets is putting profits above his staff and customers. McCormicks used to be wonderful. It's gone now.
The food tasted great, however I ordered lobster tails and they were pretty small for the price.
Poorly managed on 12/25. Waited 1 1/2 hours for cold steaks all cooked raw. They ran out of bread and mushrooms. What kind of business is this? They take reservations but walkins get priority? I get lied to by the lady at the front when I ask for an explanation. Why open on 12/25 when you are going to serve poor food and service? It was obvious did not show up to work because the bench players were really bad.
Even though it was Christmas Day and very busy, we were seated quickly. Waiter was run off his feet and did get a couple of items wrong but mistakes were fixed quickly without asking.
If you are staying at an LAX hotel, recommend getting an Uber and eating here instead of your hotel restaurant.
Food was not good at all... waiter was not good either
We picked our son up at the airport for his Christmas visit and wanted a really nice meal and experience to start the visit. McCormick and Schmick's did not disappoint. Our three meals were outstanding. Our son lives in Colorado and is a bit of a foodie. He loves to have fish when he comes to the coast. His order of fish was superb. I love scallops and again the meal was great. My husband ate steak and that was also outstanding. This will be a favorite stop for us with friends and relatives arriving at LAX.
We had a holiday dinner reservations with some very good friends. Our meal was outstanding and the service was great.
The food was excellent our waiter (Jim) was friendly, Knowledgeable of the foods made recommendations which was the best. quiet, clean all-around a great experience.
Great customer service and very accommodating - treated us like we were very special. Food was tasty, ambience great, did not rush us - great waiter.
We came here from out of state and were very happy. Excellent food, service and ambiance. We would definitely recommend it.
Birthday. Great time.
We haven't been to this restaurant since it first opened because we were dissatisfied with it then, but after all these years we thought we'd try it again. Appetizers came out cold, the soup and salad was good. The bread came out late so at least it was hot. The main course came out cold but he couldn't get the vegetables we ordered out at the same time so I asked to cancel them. He said they were coming and he would comp them so we got them and at least they were hot. We'll try again in another 10 years when they will possibly have a new manager but until then we will not go back or ever recommend anyone else to go there. It was early, they were not busy yet, and there are too many choices available in the South Bay area. I recommend you utilize your other choices.
Great restaurant and the service is awesome. Very friendly staff and wonderful meals.
The food was good the waiter was very nice but we waited quite awhile to get served with the main course.
Food was great. They took care of my 14 person party well. Everyone had a great time!
Went here for my wife's 50th birthday. The restaurant had printed special menus for us indicating 'Happy 50th birthday' on the top. The staff reserved a special dining room for us with incredible ambiance. The waiter who served us was the kindness gentleman who made my wife's birthday so awesome. The food here was incredible!!!! The lobster bites are the greatest along with the seared tuna and tableside tartar. Our main dinner was delicious too with their aged steaks and fresh seafood. This El Segundo location went over the top for us. We will definitely be back soon.
