McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Edina Ratings and Reviews
Always a wonderful venue for a great meal and great conversation. The various menu options are both broad and of impeccable quality. Fresh fish and seafood along with sensational steaks make this a keeper. We were there for my birthday meal and they even brought me a nice little after dinner treat to celebrate the birthday. Always great and you won't regret this choice!
Located within Westin Edina; known for steaks / fresh seafood; good service; can be bit pricy tho if you order sensibly you’re ok. Also i rec join Landry restaurant club as get annual $25 credit. Can ask for cozy booth if with special someone. Drinks / wine list good; has full nice bar adjacent/ attached: nice upscale atmosphere & TVs if want watch games. Trout pan sautéed is my usual go to dish with sides & salad.
I have to say that the food here on new years was less than impressive and I left disappointed. The service was great but the food was eh... I had the Seared Ahi Tuna appetizer and the special Hawaiian Sesame Ahi Tuna as well as a salad and a bowl of the Lobster Bisque. The soup and the bisque were delicious but the appetizer fell very flat and was not as fresh as it should have been. The Special was the big let down as I specifically asked how it was prepared and I was told rare, which I wanted, but when it came out it was FULLY cooked all the way through with no pink to be found at all. Who serves Ahi Tuna that way? Especially at a seafood place. Needless to say we had a hard stop on dinner or I'd of sent it back but I could not. I doubt I'll be going back anytime soon. Hopefully you have a better experience than I did, I have had success there before, not sure what happened this time.
Food and service was fine. We were seated close to the door so it was a bit cold. We were celebrating our anniversary and the Host indicated that our desert was on him. Unfortunately the Host didn’t tell the waiter so we were charged for our deserts. Nothing annoys me more than being offered something for free and having to ask for it later.
The experience was very under whelming, it was not busy and the drinks took a long time, as well getting the server over to the table to check on us was extremely slow.
For a holiday weekend, there was no urgency and possibly not enough servers on, I would not go back, I wish I could say something else regarding lunch, nothing to give compliments on. The service/ training needs to be improved considering the new restaurant next door and all of the options, considering the price and expected service that should be delivered, it was very disappointing.
I have to question the design of some of the dishes. For example, the white sea scallops are placed on a bed of mashed white cauliflower and accompanied by more cauliflower in the form of florets. The plate is an embodiment of the joke about going snowblind from looking at Scandinavian-American food.
Too many mashed potato accompaniments on the menu as well. Lazy, prepare-ahead-and-hold food and often an inappropriate match with the entree. White, too.
The best thing about my most recent visit to the Edina, Minnesota, location was our server, Luke. And to the chef's credit, he or she pulled the sea scallops off the fire before they overcooked.
My 6 year-old daughter and I enjoyed an early Christmas dinner before seeing a movie at Southdale. We were seated immediately upon our arrival. The atmosphere was bustling and festive without being chaotic. The staff all seemed happy to be there. We split a shrimp cocktail, which was very fresh. The kid's menu had more than enough choices for a wide-range of ages. I had a sirloin steak, which was well-prepared (and the mashed potatoes were excellent). Our server Yao was the best server that I have ever had. She was both attentive and incredibly sweet and really made our visit feel special. We will definitely be back (probably for Christmas dinner again).
The crab cakes were superb. Lots of real crab meat and not just a lot of bread filler. The lobster bisque had a great taste and the lobster tails were really good. The desert we chose was a chocolate shaped bag which looked to be filled with berries and topped with whipped cream. I was disappointed that the chocolate bag was instead filled with whipped cream and only a few berries for color. Overall though, a great dining experience.
We have always enjoyed the restaurant; however, my wife's herb crusted walleye
was disappointing as it was oily and very little crust. The many potatoes were very
average at best.
My Shrimp Scampi was quite good.
The star of the meal was the Caesar Salad that we shared.
I called ahead the week before to find out their menus for Christmas Day. I was told they were serving breakfast (which we wanted) until 11 a.m. (as the website noted is their usual time they stop serving breakfast), but they would be serving Lunch starting at 10 and he specifically mentioned there would be an overlap. When we arrived for our 10:30 reservation we were given a lunch menu and I asked about breakfast. They said they stopped serving breakfast at 10 because of Christmas. (Okay - but how many people want lunch at 10 a.m.?) I told them how I had called and what I was told - he immediately said he would bring out the breakfast menus which was very accommodating. Our meal came quickly. My husband ordered the cinnamon french toast and he said there was no cinnamon flavor. He also ordered "old-fashioned" oatmeal, but was unhappy to find it was instant oatmeal that was served to him. He also got another serving of butter with it along with the raisins and brown sugar, but had to ask for milk. I ordered yogurt with berries and granola. The servings of berries was generous, but way too much granola compared to the amount of yogurt. My hash browns were okay. I guess since they are known for fish and seafood, I shouldn't expect much for breakfast, but it was disappointing. The atmosphere was festive for Christmas.
My 30-something grandson, his partner and I went there for dinner on Christmas Eve. I had the walleye which was just delicious but my grandson's steak was dry and has partner did not comment on the food which made me wonder if it was okay. Our server called me (a 74-year-old female) "honey" twice and on the third time I asked her to stop calling me "honey." She did apologize but I was offended that it happened it all. I had expected a better experience than we had.
This place has really declined. The staff are a bunch of strange people who behave oddly at the tables and make the customers uncomfortable. We with a group of 8 primarily because cov was full and we couldn't get into Pittsburg Blue on short notice. The drinks were bad; the service was slow (dinner took nearly 3 hours; the food was fair at best; and our server was uncomfortably bad. Several people in the bar told us after dinner that this place is closing because of the poor food and service. Too bad given the great location but hopefully a better restaurant will replace it.
We had eight people in our party for a business dinner at 7 p.m. At 7:01 I got a call from the restaurant asking if we were still coming in and I replied that we were in the lobby and would be in right away. When we walked in, we were told our table was not ready and to go back to the lobby. After 20 minutes, we were finally seated - at a 6 top. Very uncomfortable, especially for a business dinner as opposed to an intimate evening with friends. We had to wait a long time for a server. When she did arrive, she was a great server for the rest of the evening. The food was pretty good, as you would expect from McCormick & Schmick's. I would visit this restaurant again for personal events, but I will not be using them for company events in the future.
