McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Edina Ratings and Reviews
Four of us from work went here for a Chistmas lunch which our boss paid for. It was delicious. I had oysters on the half shell and the Mahi Ahi Tuna with wasabi potatoes and grilled Bok Choy. For dessert we all split the Mocha chocolate cheesecake and the white chocolate mousse in a chocolate bag with berries. The mushroom brushetta was delicious also. Other entrees that were ordered at our table was the crab stuffed shrimp and the chicken chopped salad. All excellent and flavorful. Our Server was friendly and very attentive. I can't wait to go back here again and try something else. I would recommend this place highly on my dining experience.
I think M & S is my favorite restaurant in the Twin Cities.
This was a very poor experience.
My Ahi Tuna was cold, the vegetable was "gritty" and the bread was brought out when we were 75% done with our dinners. My guest raved about the Flounder.
All in all an below average experience .
Loved the ambiance of the restaurant-beautiful. We were here for a special occasion and were treated to a wonderful dessert which wasn't expected. We did expect better service however. The waiter was not very attentive and never came back to ask for additional drink orders. It wasn't extremely busy so not sure why the service was so poor. Everyone seemed pleased with the food and had a really nice evening.
My husband and I hosted 3 couples at M&S for his milestone birthday. The food was great as always. But I think we had an inexperienced server.
Two couples split salads, and this got messed up. Our server offered pepper to 1 one person but not the rest of the table. The dessert recommendation was not so good (bread pudding -- so sweet it almost hurt). And the difference between flounder and trout was not evident to her. No coffee was offered with dessert.
It was disappointing to receive mediocre service for a special occasion, but I tried to look past it as much as possible. Maybe M&S should have assigned 2 servers to our table.
We still had a great time, and I know that most of the M&S servers are really good at their jobs. So I won't let this keep me from returning.
1.) Management was well attentive to customer level of comfort.
2.) Hostess /Waitress was fabulous (Wow/Yow). She made us feel like we were dinning at home. Provided a variety of options and favorites.
3.) Food was exceptional. Compares to many of our international trip cuisines.
4.) Location was very accessible and reasonable.
5.) Cost did not factor into our decision, will return real soon.
6.) Ambience was just right.
I love McCormick and Schmick for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have many gluten free options and are very helpful and nice. I frequently order the same thing because I love it. It is the salmon stuffed with crab. My friend wasn't happy with the steak she ordered, however, the manager came by and was very nice and willing to remedy the situation. They are always so nice about that. I keep coming back, because the food and service are great. However, sometimes the prices can be a little high. It is still one of my favorite places to eat.
We usually enjoy dinner here very much, but this time I hope is merely an exception
My wife ordered a tuna dish that the description did not mention wasabi yet it was laden with it. Luckily I don't have a problem with it so I elected to take it home for lunch the next day. She however chose not eat as the dish ruined her appetite.
My scallops were fine if a bit over cooked, but my drink was horrible. I've never had such a weak old fashioned, seeing as it is essentially 100% liquor that is quite a trick. Either the bottle ran dry and he decided to serve it anyway or he just didn't have room for at least a shot with all that ice.
All in all given the cost of the meal I'm reluctant to ever go back which is a shame as it is one of the few sea food places my wife will go to... At last it was.
We went for brunch, even though the website only listed breakfast. The breakfast menu had a lot of variety but when we got there, we were handed a brunch menu with more limited options. We ordered coffee while we perused the menu but it was muddy and tasted warmed over. We decided to order lunch, a burger and crispy cod sandwich. Both had a bun that was too flimsy so that the bottom half was soggy and fell apart when picked up. We asked for a fork but who wants to eat a burger with a fork. The crispy cod was overly "crispy" and the "malt vinegar aioli" simply tasted like plain mayo. The restaurant was understaffed although our server did the best she could. We would recommend the restaurant for dinner, but avoid the coffee and anything served on a bun.
Service was as slow as the glaciers before global warming.
When I asked the waiter if they could substitute spinach for green beans, he said they could. When the bill came, there was a $5 substitution charge for a tablespoon of spinach! The waiter did not mention any up-charge as they do in most other restaurants. $5 on a $300+ bill seems rather nickle and dime stuff, but if that's how M&S has to make their money, so be it.
And that stuffed salmon, supposedly a specialty of the house was just a bunch of over-sauced fish and seafood without any clean or clear taste.
I do not plan to return.
The restaurant was packed for the, almost, two hours we were there, so really glad we made reservations. Great atmosphere, fantastic service, and at relatively good pace for a packed place. We don’t drink so can’t comment on that, but our virgin mojitos were perfect, not too sweet, nor too sour. The CAB NY strip Carpaccio was to die for, I would go back just for that. My NY steak was meh, but edible. My friends entrees were ok compared to similar fare elsewhere. Portions are big, so bring an appetite. We enjoyed our deserts. We were seated in a booth, which is great for intimate conversations. Overall, we had such a lovely evening, we almost missed our movie!
We had a fabulous anniversary dinner there tonight. The staff was so welcoming, they made us feel like special guests. Our waiter was charming and made excellent suggestions regarding the menu. He even had the chef whip up a special appetizer with lobster that was very well seasoned and perfectly prepared. Our filet was perfectly grilled and the crab cakes were delicious. We topped it off with the "Anniversary desert" which was delicious! The best meal and evening! Perfect for special events, dinner with friends or an evening out. We will be back!
The service was awesome and the food was excellent. The wait staff was very attentive to your needs and quite courteous. Our waiter John, was very knowledgeable about the appetizers and entrees and made excellent suggestions. We only had Seafood for a dinners but it was tasty and well made. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
We took my parents out for dinner. The steaks, lobster mashed potatoes, and chocolate bag dessert were very good. The shrimp cocktail and two of the sides (roasted cauliflower, asparagus) with our dinner were average at best. Our steak entrees came with a large helping of broccoli so we ordered too many sides. it would have been helpful to know that when ordering. I ordered an Old Fashioned before dinner and my parents followed suit, it was the worst cocktail I've every had. Tasted like grape Kool-aid with a splash of bourbon.
The place was large, but décor provided a more quaint environment, and the front service was excellent. the food was apportioned smallish, but very well plated with excellent flavors. Then the experience worsened, as waiter service was a tad snarky and very slow. Asked for bread three times, and forgotten, and food was warmish rather than hot. The experience , which was at Thanksgiving and with reservations then finished badly as we were informed no pumpkin pie was available at this time, and suggested apple pie- on Thanksgiving! I would not recommend this place unless its a buffet as the overall experience was average and at a cost of 110$
Went for the Turkey T-Day special. There was nothing particularly special about the meal. The portion of sliced turkey was huge, more than enough maybe too much. There was a shortage on the traditional trimmings. I was taken back at the turkey portion, unable to fathom the locals chowing down on a meal the size consumed by a farmer in from the field. ☺ I will return for a Happy Hour or nice steak in the near future.
The server was great, attentive but not syrupyly annoying. Just the basics, not into the chatty servers. I'm not an Every Day I Need Attention (EDINA) kind of woman. I appreciate suggestions, specials of the day, bring hot food, a brief check-in, refills or second drink inquiries and ending with "dessert?".
I've been dealing with a long, painful recovery from shoulder surgery. I requested an accommodation for a comfortable, less congested area. We got it. It was like the host was walking intercept for me enroute to our booth. lol
The host staff were polite and apologized for reservation delays, ours was 20 minutes. No biggie, it happens. People sit and talk longer than expected & mess with scheduling.
My sister and I were very disappointed in the food quality of the thanksgiving dinner. We were treating ourselves to what we hoped would be a special dinner but other than the salad and the sweet potatoes the food was not up to this restaurant's reputation.
I realize it was a holiday, but having to wait 40+ minutes to be seated is unreasonable when there is a reservation in place. Our waiter started out well when he took drink and food orders, but once we were served he was no where to be seen. One of my three side dishes was missing, but after tasting my husband's I can say it was no loss. Another of my side dishes had hard chunks of something in it that were inedible. We will not be returning to McCormick & Schmick's.
We chose to eat a regular turkey dinner on thanksgiving in the early afternoon. Our waiter was very nice and efficient. Our seating was delayed 15 minutes beyond the reservation. The food was quite plentiful and very mediocre . Our booth was quiet but we would not return as the food was almost tasteless.
We saw the Thanksgiving Buffet menu on the restaurant website and decided to schedule a reservation for dinner, just the two of us. On arrival we were disappointed to find the buffet wasn't actually in McCormick's, but was at the Westin, and seating was only in a stuffy impersonal hotel ballroom without any windows. We assumed the buffet was in McCormick's itself, since they posted it on their own web page. We chose to be seated in the restaurant and order off the menu instead, because it was the ambience we were counting on. Our dinner, the plated Thanksgiving dinner (for only a little less than the complete buffet right outside the door!) was good, but was a disappointment since we didn't get all the other options as we would have at the buffet. Details of the buffet (that it was by McCormick's but in the Westin itself and not in the restaurant) should have been more clearly noted on the website. A disappointment.
