McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Denver Ratings and Reviews
Sadly disappointed, my husband and I had not been there for a while, we totally dislike the "new" (to us) menu. The fresh fish selection no longer exists, the oyster selection does not exist and in fact there were no shellfish in the ice when walking in. I ordered the lobster tails...more like large shrimp/prawns, the mashed potatoes with lobster bisque is not a good addition to the lobster, lumpy dry, potatoes.
Very disappointed. First: I ordered an Old Fashioned drink to start. The flavor was fine but it was made with regular ice. Thus melts fast and dilutes the drink. Should have been served with the large single ice cube. Second, the tuna tartare was made table side w ith a mustard sauce. Terrible idea with tuna. Way too over powering. Then came the lump crab cake; I thought it was a joke, I seen better looking one out of the freezer. It was flat in flavor and appearance and there was no lump crab to be seen. Tasted like they forgot the crab and served just the breading. The wedge salad was dull at best. Then there was the entree...seared tuna. Over cooked and over seasoned. When you spend over $200 for a dinner for 2 you expect to get what you paid for. I will not go back and I wish there was a way to get my money back. Advise for the restaurant? Go go Delfrisco's see how it is supposed to be done.
Excellent! We went to McCormick’s on New Years Day with our toddler (nervous since it’s nice) but they were extremely accommodating and our little guy behaved!
Food was excellent: crab legs were perfectly cooked and not over-salted. Fish n’ chips were crunchy and not greasy!
Comfortable, Business casual dining with ambience similar to the old McCormick’s downtown. Still sad that location closed but this is just as nice!
The service was fantastic, the food and drinks were disappointing. When i spend over $150 for a meal for 2 i expect better than ok. The portion was the size of what i would serve to my 10yrs old son. The drink had no liquor, for $14 each i expect that some liquor would be added.
This is the 5th time I’ve been at this location and it’ll be my last. 1) had 845 pm NYE reserv. Arrived a little early and was informed they were running late maybe 30 minutes behind. 2) they told us to wait in the bar nd they would get us. 3) while at the bar getting a drink noticed it was around 9. The bartender started telling his crew 1 hour !! I was shocked to find out the entire place shuts down at 10 pm !!! Lol really !! Even on NYE. The bartender said we could grab a table in the bar area which we did . The greeters and hostess at front were ill prepared to handle anything that night and were more interested in going out after closing.
The HVAC system in the bar is a joke. You need to have heated air curtains at the exit doors ! Every time the door opened ( which was every 2 minutes) it was freezing. Not good. Not good at all. But 10 pm closing every nite including new year eve ??? Really !
We scheduled this NYE meal early to beat the crowds and have the evening free. We definitely achieved that goal as we were one of maybe five dining groups in the first seating. The walnut mixed greens salad was plentiful and fresh, the clam chowder tasty, but small. My dinner partner enjoyed the filet mignon, prepared just right, though the brocolini was slightly under done. My seafood mixed grill was plentiful, the stuffed shrimp unique, and the salmon prepared just right. My veggies were clearly fresh, though also undercooked. The sauces complimented everything very well. The spiced raspberry cooler was refreshing. Overall, a very nice meal with attentive service. A great start to celebrate the ringing in of a new year.
Choose this restaurant because our birthday celebrant loves Seafood. This restaurant provided all of us with a wonderful meal and excellent service by their staff. They had specially labeled menus and a birthday dessert for our daughter which were both appreciated. Special kids menus with crayons for the grand kids was wonderful. This is a special restaurant and we look forward to returning.
Has to wait over 20 minutes for our reservation. Decided to wait at the bar which was extremely slow. Our server was fine though she didn’t check back with us until we were almost finished eating. The steak had good flavor but was thin and dry. The lobster tails were tiny and barely warm. I would guess our dinners were under a heat lamp as they took a long time to come out. For the price we’ve had much better experiences downtown,
I had read several reviews prior to our reservation and many had mentioned the service being something to be desired. However since the comments concerning the menu were very favorable and being Christmas Day evening I decided to dine there. Our reservation for four was 7:15 and we left the restaurant at 10:15! We basically waited for everything beginning with cocktails and ending with desert and our check. The food was great, no problem there, but there is no excuse for the management to allow wait staff or kitchen to continue down their present path. The table of five next to us were so upset they asked for the manager and he appeared to have comped part of their bill.
We've been to a number of McCormick & Schmick's (M&S) restaurants in various cities/states and have usually had good to very good food and service. While we love to give good reviews, we found little to nothing redeeming about this location in the DTC (Denver Tech Center) area. This location does not represent the brand well and in fact we could easily say it bordered on being an embarrassment.
The food was unacceptable in terms of quality, the minuscule entree portions served and/or a complete lack of presentation beyond school cafeteria level. On rare occasions, we find the need to send back a dish. On this night, between the four of us in our party, 3 dishes plus an appetizer had to be sent back for being dramatically under or over cooked - or for missing core items of the dish listed on the menu. All were recognized by our server and the restaurant manager, but we were charged for everything except one appetizer nonetheless.
The service and staff were obviously inexperienced and it was also obvious that they did not like their jobs. At the risk of over speculation, patrons observing the restaurant manager openly argue with an employee at the front of the restaurant could indicate a contributing factor to the service and apparent staff morale.
All in all it was a poor experience which we think was shared by other patrons based on overhearing their comments and complaints. If I was the owner or equivalent of this M&S, I would look into how the location is performing with a sense of urgency. In the meantime, we do not plan to return.
We were there on Christmas. We were seated on time and service was friendly and efficient. Our waitress was great and we didn’t feel rushed. It was a great evening for entertaining our family. So glad you are open on this holiday. Dinner st McCormicks has become a Christmas tradition
Food OK but not up to the cost. Service was also not up to restaurants published image. Mussels decent but never got plate for shells. Crab cakes mushy. Brussel sprouts barely cooked and hard. Salmon dry. Had to ask for drink refills. Was Christmas Day and busy but always empty tables. Not good enough for me to return
How disappointing. The sea bass was overcooked. Steak was bland at best. Waiter was like a ghost. He would pop up for a bit but then disappear for the longest time. He tried explaining to the table behind us that he never brought their salads because he forgot because he was in charge of a pizza order for the staff. Not sure why a manager was not taking care of that and they left it on a waiter that could not handle this task as well as serving tables. I can assure you for the $100 we paid we will not be back. Our money could be better spent anywhere else.
Service was very poor - rarely saw server. Food delivery was slow. Restaurant was too noisy - hard to hear conversations. Salad dressing was spilled on someone in our group - barely received an apology or acknowledgement. Do not plan to come back here after coming for many years.
Wow, M&S used to be one of our favorites--no more. Drinks were very poor, had much better at a Texas Roadhouse the night before!
Pick another restaurant!
Service was incredibly slow, waiter was not knowledgeable about menu offerings and drink menu. In serving first drink order, he dropped a champagne flute that shattered on the table. Luckily, we were able to quickly grab napkins to keep from getting wet. He was very apologetic and we were extremely gracious--accidents happen, no problem, we said.
Food was mediocre at best. Caesar salad had all dressing on the bottom of the bowl and hardly any over the romaine. Wife had sesame crusted big eye tuna that was OK , but not outstanding as we had come to expect of M&S. Lobster bisque was quite excellent, however.
Lady ( manager, I think), came by much later in the meal and asked if we were upset about the champagne incident. She was quite arrogant and a little insulting in her tone and demeanor. We again expressed no problems for us and she quickly turned and disappeared.
We were surprised that we were not comped for the spill. I did not ask for a comp, but expected one. Nope, full charges for everything.
Regarding the drinks, they have dropped most of the quality mixed drink offerings like the excellent Hemingway Daiquari. Other drink offerings were less impressive than the average Applbees. For example, the mai tai was watery and bland.
All in all, M&S has "lost its luster' and two customers.
It is frustrating to have to wait an additional 30 minutes beyond our reservation time, which has happened each time we have come. I realize holidays are busy but reservations should hold closer to the time scheduled. The trout I am sorry to say was bland and we ended up eating in the bar to get seated sooner
I have been a fan of this restaurant for a long time. This time, not so much, actually the last two time times I have eaten here, things seem off. On this trip service was way off, slow, not attentive (until I asked for the check) almost forgetful. A group of friends decided to dine here and one of my friends is in recovery and we do not drink in front of them to show support. The server arrived and asked if we wanted a drink from the bar, beer, wine, cocktail. When we declined it seems she became dis-interested in my party.
We ordered several appetizers and soups, which were fine, the main courses seemed to take longer than usual but we were in no rush. Once we completed the main course when she asked if we wanted to have dessert, we said yes, it took 10 minutes to get dessert menus and another 15 minutes to order the desserts.
All in all my group left disappointed- This is just my opinion but this restaurant has slipped to my second tier choice for seafood in Denver.
