This is one of our favorite restaurants because of the ambiance and quality of the seafood but our recent experience was unsatisfactory. The food was good but the service was unacceptable. We waited over 20 minutes to receive our cocktails, the main course was very slow arriving. When we finished dining my wife asked for coffee and after 25 minutes with nothing happening I requested our check from the manager, cancelled the coffee and left. Restaurant either needs to hire more waiters or more competent waiters or have a manager that stays on top of the service?
I definitely enjoyed myself. The food was delicious. The waiter was very nice. But he was spread too thin. They seemed short staffed. It took a long time to receive drinks and in order to get a second drink I had to flag down the manager and even then I waited quite a while. My water glass remained empty for most of the time I was there.
The restaurant itself is a bit worn around the edges. It’s badly in need of a renovation. They are doing somethings very well. They use nice crisp white tablecloths and obviously take good care of the place. It’s clean with shiny etched glass windows on the doors that separates the rooms and the rich wood paneled walls have held up nicely. But the hideous green carpeting really needs to be replaced.
M&S is saved by the food! My lobster bisque was delicious with big chunks of lobster and yummy crunchy croutons. The Ahi Tuna was perfectly seared rare and was beautifully presented. I hope they hire a busboy or two and spruce the place up. It’s a good restaurant but with a little help it could be better!
The food was really good, but I do not think I would recommend McCormick and Schmidt because the service was awful. Trying to get drink refills it was impossible, our waiter could not remember who had what even though he wrote it down multiple times, my wife actually got up and got one of our desserts herself from the serving station because it sat so long. Definitely not a good experience
We went for a belated Valentine’s Day and unfortunately our sitter never showed so we had to make it a moly dinner. The restaurant was very accommodating to seat us with our daughter who is 15 months old. The service did leave something to be desired, our server seemed overwhelmed though it didn’t seem too busy in the dining room. Overall it was just ok, possibly due to the holiday but was hoping for more.
Our food was sub par and the seafood was chewy. We had a later reservation and felt that we were being rushed out of the restaurant. Seems the restaurant is going down hill.
The food was excellent! The Moscato wine is one of the best I had ever experienced. We had a reservation and we seated promptly. Oddly, it took us 17 minutes to be acknowledged after we got the hostess attention. The waiter approached the table and acted like it was no big deal. Disappointed experience with the service. Perhaps we will try another time in the year.
Seafood quality was excellent but a little bland. Andouie mashed potatoes were to die for. Service was so so. Waiter seemed like she was in a rush.
Disappointed we were not notified when making a reservation of a limited menu excluding lobster and crab legs, the primary reasons we selected the restaurant for Valentines Day. Shrimp cocktail was ok but shrimp seemed undersized for a seafood restaurant and relative to price. It sure purposeful. But mushrooms were completed charred - we have never had charred mushrooms before.
Soup, entrees and service were good.
Food is super fresh, well prepared....servers are highly knowledgeable about the products and their preparation. The night I was there , the staff was challenged with two super large parties and several walk ins who filled the entire restaurant. They did a great job teaming together to make sure everyone was taken care of. A special call out to David the manager and two servers Krassi and Brandy....they were fantastic

Obviously, we enjoyed the food, service and ambiance.... that was to be expected. But what we really enjoyed was the quiet. Sure there were lots of people around us but the restaurant is obviously designed so a group of 4 around the table could carry on great conversation and a low level and we could all hear each other without ever having having to raise our voices. Thank you McCormick & Schmidt!
Quality of food and service received should go hand in hand at a fine dining establishment. This was my first visit and it was also my 60th birthday. Although my birthday was not mentioned until the end of the meal when dessert was offered - our server could have cared less - he did offer us the “loyalty” card and said our bill would almost be at the first tier - which was a free birthday dessert - he was a nice guy that was swamped with tables and therefore was unable to attend to each of his tables in the manner in which should have been customary for fine dining. The food was good - however, the server spilled an entire glass of water on our table and never offered to accommodate our party in any way - I never even saw a manager! Super disappointing experience that we made the most of at the time!

Took 5 minutes for someone to come out and acknowledge we were there. Took 10 minutes to get them to clean off a table (on a night where they were not busy). No parking. Service was slow. Creme brulee was awful. Main course was okay ...
Our recent dinner experience at M&S was quite enjoyable. The cobia fish and root vegetables were delicious. My husband's filet was not as tender as one would expect for that cut. This was disappointing. Our server, Paul, was pleasant but less than attentive. It was an early dinner and the restaurant was almost empty. We were early for our reservations and he cheerfully seated us, but he did not check back on the food until we were almost finished eating. Overall, it was a good dining experience.
My husband got the steak sirloin and twin lobster tails. The steak a big fat F. The lobster A+. The side of potato wedges were horrible. I got the king crab legs, not worth the money, the truffle mashed potatoes were good. But not worth the money at all. Have had better food from a cheap buffet. The bread was good lol. Oh and they gave us a copy of their menus for us celebrating our few day old marriage and his birthday.... lol why??? I do not know. Good conversation though, had an amusing time being dissatisfied. Oh and his glass was filthy and disgusting that they put his coal in. Disappointed.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Our waitress was so good and the food was delicious!
Had shrimp linguini. Shrimp were over cooked and portions of the linguini were hard. No bread was served.
Pricey for a lunch.
My Mom and I went here to celebrate my birthday. We each ordered the chef’s recommendations: Hawaiian Bigeye Ahi Tuna for me, and Shrimp and Crab stuffed Salmon for her. Both choices were beyond delicious. The service was wonderful and as a way to remember our evening and why we were there, the manager presented me with a copy of the evening’s menu with a birthday message printed at the top for me.
The tuna appetizer was great! We loved the sauce and tangy peppers. The stuffed salmon, mashed potatoes and green beans (seasonal vegetable) was yummy! My husband raved about the grilled swordfish with balsamic glaze. The candied walnut apple pie was sweet and crunchy with a flaky crust.
I had forgotten what a great restaurant M&S is! They have such a huge variety of selections and an awesome happy hour! We will definitely be back!
McCormicks is our favorite place to go for a special celebration. We love their seafood!
My husband suggested we try this restaurant as an alternative to the seafood restaurants that Colorado Springs has to offer. It had mixed reviews online. We drove up to Denver on a Saturday night. First, the hostess was no where to be found when we walked in with 2 other parties also waiting to be seated and we waited approximately 5-10 minutes. My husband finally walked to the back to find her. While our waiter was very attentive to our table, he tipped a container of butter upside down on the table when he brought the bread basket and dropped a stack of dishes while clearing our table. He suggested an upgrade of the steak that came with the steak (medallions) and lobster on the menu, to a filet mignon for $55. I ordered it cooked medium. It was a very thin cut of filet and it was cooked medium well. I've definitely had better filet mignon.
We had a gift card to use. Shell fish allergy so we ordered steak. Meal was only so so.
This was a first time visit, we were celebrating my wife's birthday. The restaurant was easy to find, but parking was somewhat limited, I would recommend leaving earlier. We made reservations, which were honored. The interiorlighting was a bit to dark, I would never consider having clientele meeting here for business. Our waitress was very nice, but she did have her hands full with other tables and because of this it felt like we were being rushed. We were there for 20 minutes before we were served water, not cool, especially on my wife's birthday. The inside appeared to be clean, but again because of the poor or dimmed lighting it not have been. I always judge a restaurants cleanliness on how the restrooms look, if the bathroom area is not kept up then its easy to assume that any area in the backroom or kitchen may be in the same condition, which of coarse is not acceptable. I'm happy to report that the restroom was clean, stocked and was in working order. The menu was straight forward, easy to follow, printed on paper, front and back and did have a special birthday message for my wife. The cocktail listings were just ok, I like having a cocktail inspired by the house, because it is the one thing they should be good at making, not tonight this needs work. Our main course came out by two, not at once. It was hot, but the steaks were not made as ordered, they need to check the temperatures as they cook, two were cooked under and one way over. The mixed vegetables were not easily identifiable. The host did walk by and ask how we were doing, but was to busy too stop and engage us properly. If your Host is cleaning up, handling food and taking orders then he's not the Host, even on a bad night he should always be calm and engaging, always selling and promoting the restaurant while delegating responsibilities. He may be a nice guy, but how would one ever know, this needs to improve. I would visit this establishment again, but it would need some improvement and soon.

Very disappointing...the tuna looked as though it was "sprayed" with red dye, and everything was so bland. The server did not know what the specials were and thought giggling would get her over the hump on this one...embarrassing. I enjoyed this restaurant a lot years ago in Chicago but the decor and food quality were major disappointments. Would not go back to the one in Denver.
Terrific food and service. We really enjoyed celebrating our 47 th anniversary there.
We went for lunch on MLK Day and while the restaurant was nearly empty we never felt forgotten as can sometimes when you're eating during a slow period. Service was excellent, food was delicious. I ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the dish was one of the best I've ever had. My husband is a clam chowder aficionado and raved after having a bowl of theirs. While I typically steer away from restaurants that are part of a chain, this one didn't feel too formulaic.

This place is suffering greatly if not dying altogether. We hadn't been here for a few years, and wow, what a shock. They need lots of help. Floors looked dirty. Furniture is worn and creaky. The service was abysmally slow (on a Saturday night!) and they are clearly short-staffed. They were out of 2 things on the menu. The food was mediocre and not prepared as ordered in 2 of 4 entrees, indicating communication problems between wait staff and kitchen. They got dessert orders wrong or perhaps changed dessert types/vendors and didn't bother updating the menu. Basically, everything you'd expect from a restaurant that does not have enough workers. But let's not kid ourselves--nothing has changed on the menu from the last time we were here probably 5-7 years before. Doubling the staff cannot fix the worn-out and tired menu. Far too expensive for such slow service, mediocre food, and unimaginative choices. It really felt like this would be the last time we ever went to this place. I don't think that even a comp could bring us back. This was a last-minute reservation for my group of 4. We should have taken it as a warning that they had plenty of availability prime time on a Saturday night.
We did not received the entree that we ordered. Server was inexperienced.
My server/bartender Joseph was quite aggressive and borderline rude with his upsale technique and closing of the check. I had a Landry’s birthday reward and he felt certain that he Should point out the original total of the bill multiple times. Obviously, I understood it was customary to tip on the original bill and not on the discounted amount. It seemed very aggressive and It offended my date as well and I do not believe we will return to this establishment.

We've had wonderful meals here previously, but this time was worried by the seafood quality in the bouillabaisse we ordered. It was a special event, so this dish should have been exceptionally fresh, but it was not. The salmon was delicious, service great, but I wouldn't risk spending time and money coming in for dinner again. Their happy hour is always been good.

I love this restaurant because the food is consistently very good, the service appears to be effortless and flows smoothly, the noise level is low and the tables are not on top of each other. Another great evening out!
