McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Denver Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately, I don't have much good to say about this place. The waiter was completely unenthused to be working. He barely wanted to take our orders and ignored us every time he walked by after that. The steaks were the high point, but merely ok. My king crab legs were cold and dried out and the butter was room temp at best. My wife's salad was full of oil and she couldn't eat it. We were intending to make an evening out of this dinner with friends drinking wine and eating some good food. We ended up wanting to get out of there as quick as we could. Found a cool tavern a few blocks away to spend our evening at. Definitely won't be coming back to M&S again. There are plenty of great places in town not to bother wasting any more time and money here.
I go there a few times a month. The main reason I continued to go was because the waiter Nathan was so good. Tonight two people asked for dressing on the side the salads came dressed. One woman received cold mash potatoes. I received Kobe burger with a slice of cheese not melted. I asked for extra crispy fries and they were far from crispy. We have complained before and nothing seems to change. We live in the building but unless there’s bad weather will go else where.
Went in for a later dinner, 8:00, and we didn't have great service. Decided to sit in the bar seating since the dining room was empty. Very slow service, only had to ask for water 3 times. The food was good. We had the swordfish and steak and lobster. We got the wrong kind of sides, might be due to the fact our waiter didn't write anything down. This was our first time here.
It was Thanksgiving. We arrived early to spend some time in the bar having cocktails and appetizers. After checking in we sat and got a drink order in. We could never manage to get the waitresses attention to order appetizers. The manager kept coming by in a frenzy to check on people waiting in there for dinner tables. I told him we were early on purpose and in no hurry as it was a long time still until our table reservation. Despite this we were rushed out of there to our table, which was the worst one in the entire restaurant, more than 30 minutes early. Instead of transferring our tab the cocktail waitress chased me down like I was ditching the bill for payment. Then we waited and waited and waited for service of all types and sorts at the table. We had to remind the server multiple times about almost everything. She never inquired about the food, such as my steak. The service was awful. I still tipped about 15%, because that is what I do.
very accommodating, had reservations, but my guest cancelled due to illness.
Food was served in timely manner. served hot, delicious. delay at removing finished plates and refilling water glass.
Warm comfortable surrounding. other dinners appeared content.
reasonable value for quality
We had hoped to spend a nice relaxing Thanksgiving at McCormick's, but from the moment we walked into the restaurant the customer service was dismal. We were greeted only with excuses for why the restaurant was running behind, and the hostesses did nothing to hide their frustration, just to dump it on us. We were not seated until one hour after our scheduled reservation, the food was only so-so. Our server was pleasant and was doing her best, but the rest of the experience was far lower than what we paid for the experience. We were seated in a smaller dining room and were the last table in, and therefore the last to finish our meals. But as we were trying to relax and enjoy our food a team of the bussing staff came in and started stacking chairs on all sides of us, doing their closing cleaning and otherwise ruining the ambience of the evening. When our server came to check on us, we were very honest about the sub par experience and she did comp our desserts. However, I do believe this will be my last trip to McCormick and Schmick's. An establishment of this caliber should be ashamed of the service they provided on this holiday.
We went for Thanksgiving as a treat. I office a few blocks away and have been twice before for lunch - the food is always very good. I will admit all three times I am disappointed in how dirty the carpeting and table seating is. Thursday night there were pieces of roll on the floor, napkins etc. - all over from the lobby to the dining area. I don't understand that. Perhaps it's because it is so dark. Anyway the food was wonderful and our server was a sweetheart; she was fast, friendly, polite, great sense of humor and delightful. Good experience overall.
Been to this restaurant many times and have always considered it to be terrific. The occasion was Thanksgiving and had a 5:30 reservation. When we got there around 5:20 we were told the wait would be at least 45 minutes. That was unworkable due to plans we had later in the evening. They said they could seat us in the bar in 20 minutes (which they did) but the noise and service was very slow. Will not do a Thanksgiving dinner again.
I rarely write poor reviews but really felt like this was just such a sub-par experience. Like so many of the other reviews posted here Thanksgiving was seriously overbooked. We had a 3:30 reservation and waited almost 45 minutes in a crowded entrance area with many other unhappy people.
We ordered the Turkey dinners and waited approximately 20 mins to receive our drinks and some bread. We received our salads about 5 mins after the bread and were about half way through the salads when our dinners arrived. We sat and waited all that time to be rushed through dinner. Although the food was good It was a bit like eating in a cafeteria atmosphere.
The server was decent but of course overwhelmed. There is always something about the service here that is off. While they are decent enough the times we have dined here they seem like helping you is not their primary responsibility.
We had been to Mccormick s on one other Thanksgiving three years prior to this. It was a much better experience with the exception of the same type of distant server.
This is the 6th or 7th time we have eaten here and we will not return. Its just not worth the extra price. There are many other restaurants in the same area that are much more pleasurable to dine at.
The inability of the restaurant to seat us within forty five minutes of our reservation resulted in an unsatisfactory experience. I had specifically requested a booth in the reservation process and when finally escorted to a table forty five minutes after the reservation time and was informed that no booths were available. We ultimately sat in a booth in the bar area where the ambiance was loud and noisy. The food was good as was the service, but the entire experience was ruined by the excessive wait time.
My elderly mother and I dined here for Thanksgiving and it was fabulous. It was crowded but the staff handled it gracefully, even though some of the patrons were jerks. The food was delicious. I had the Thanksgiving meal and it was so good. The turkey was the best I've ever eaten. My mother had the Beef Medallions and it was great too. We are ready to go back for next Thanksgiving.
Loved the crab-stuffed mushrooms appetizer! The oysters rockefeller could have been cooked a little more and the bacon in them was not noticeable, either visually or by taste, but the manager brought me some more crumbled bacon to make up for it. The Ultimate mixed seafood dish was very good- shrimp 2 ways, salmon, crabcake and vegetables. My dining partner enjoyed the traditional turkey dinner and also proclaimed it delicious.
Always friendly, professional and prompt without overbearing. Max took good care of us and front desk greeted the 2 late arrivals expediously. We had a retirement party for my wife in mid 2014 and it was great as well. We are regulars there for special ocassions.
We have eaten here several times previously and always was satisfied. I was very disappointed on this occasion. Restaurant was full as usual. We had a group of 5 and we were seated promptly . Our wine and first course soups arrived promptly. Dinner did not come for over 45 minutes and it came directly after we flagged down our waiter to complain.
My wife ordered salmon, which she asked to be cooked completely through and it came medium to medium rare. She was offered to have it replaced, but after waiting 45 minutes for the first order, she refused having it replaced.
Disappointed in the quality of their fish (they are a fish restaurant!) and their inability to cook the fish to perfection. To be perfectly honest, those of us who had salmon, liked the salmon. My husband who ordered trout rejected it - it was old and way over cooked. When someone came about the trout, they said, "no one has complained about the trout all night" Really, this is what you say to a customer who spent $500+ on dinner that night!? Granted they prepared something else for him but he didn't eat it either. But the point is, why would you say that about no one else having complained?
So first let me say THANK YOU for the Veterans Day celebration. That was the purpose of my visit. I am grateful for the hospitality of this special program and find it hard to complain about something that was free. But since you contacted me, I will share my concerns.
I sat in the bar area at about 730. Was not crowded. I was not approached by wait staff for at least 10 minutes. The waitress was difficult to understand due to accent. I asked about the 'seasonal vegetables' that came with the meal. Told something about broccoli and green beans. I selected the green beans. When the food arrived by another individual, it was put on the table and she walked away. Upon completion of my meal is when I was next approached by my server. Asking if I would like a refill on my Coke. Yes since I had finished it with the first few bites of the meal. What she did not do is question why the vegetables that were on the plate were not touched...it was because they were not green beans.
Bottom line the service was less that good. Wrong vegetable selection brought to me. Never check upon during my meal for any issues or refills of my beverage.
My check was 3.28 for the beverage. I left a 10 bill in the folder.
Again, a free meal by the coopration but less than good service by the local staff.
Thank you M&S for your celebration of our nations veterans.
Service was fantastic, food was as good as always, Oysters were fantastic. My favorite place to celebrate a special occasion, and also to take a date. Have always recommended this resturant to others. Of all the places that have come on board with the salute to service, this is the place I look forward to all year long. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
