McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Crystal City Ratings and Reviews
Service was bad. Although I made reservations, when I arrived I asked for one of their private booths. After being told it would be 15-20 minutes, we had a drink at the bar. Every 10 minutes someone came over to say it would be just a few more minutes. We waited 1 hour and 25 minutes. Even after we got the table, it took another 10 minutes for the waiter to arrive.
Excellent food and service. We have never been disappointed in either food or service at this Crystal City location. Recently the restaurant has been running a special on Sunday and Monday ... twin lobster tails with mashed potatoes. Try it. This was the second time we tried this special - fantastic. Just the right amount of tasty dinner, with wine and a cocktail.
Had a fabulous experience at the Crystal City McCormick and Schmick's. Food was fabulous (lobster bisque and steak for hubby, crab and shrimp stuffed salmon for me), server and management were attentive and our booth seat allowed us to be in a quiet spot (which we had requested).
A fairly standard restaurant for business meals. The environment is nice, comfortable and the wait staff is very well trained, friendly and makes for a pleasing experience. There is nothing very special about the menu (though there is plenty of variety and the food is well-prepared) and I feel the cost of the menu items exceeds the value. Overall, a nice place, but nothing special.
Five friends celebrating one of them turning 60. Four of us started with a cup of soup, one lobster bisque and three clam chowders. I can't speak of the bisque, although my friend really liked it, but the chowder was very thick and filled with more clams than I've ever had before in a clam chowder. Absolutely delicious. Everyone liked their main course. We all got fish of some sort, and this place knows how to prepare it. Plus all the plates were very attractive. I think our waiter, Cleveland, was fairly new as there were many things he didn't know about items on the menu, but he always got an answer for us and provided excellent service. For me, the only downside was the steep parking charge, $21.
When we arrived at 5:15, there was no receptionist/hostess. We were left by ourselves for 5-10 minutes until a wandering waitress helped seat us. Although there was only one table occupied, we were seated next to the kitchen where we could hear every clanging of dishes and overhear conversations of the kitchen staff, and experience high foot traffic.
The food was "ok," but I thought the price was high for that type of restaurant. We've been there before and at each successive time, I get the impression that the place is going downhill.
We drove up 395 to go there and never again--not a place to celebrate a special occasion, like we did. (We did get a free birthday dessert though and the waitress was "nice," but not adequately, professionally trained.)
We were visiting th area for the weekend and found this restaurant on line. We were able to walk from our hotel. Our service and waiter was outstanding. Food was delicious. Our only issue was the party of 2 30ish year old ladies were extremely loud and language was constant swearing. This was disruptive to our quiet seeking dinner. However, our waiter, (Andy, I think) was most understanding and reseated us in the bar (with Lauren) for dessert. It certainly wasn't the fault of the restaurant for the obnoxious ladies in the next booth and we appreciated the staff for quietly accommodating us by moving us to the bar.
Overall a great place to dine and we will return. I have already recommended this restaurant to other family members.
We live within walking distance, and have been frequent customers over the past 8 years. Recent visits have shown a steady marked decline in service and attentiveness. This latest visit with friends from out-of-town was instructive. We were seated immediately and asked for water while we perused the drink menu. When we ordered drinks, we asked again for water. When the drinks arrived, we again asked for water, which finally arrived. (By this point, we'd seen the water server make the circuit of the room three times...but never to our table.) The server was scarce during the meal, and we had to wait quite a while at the end of the meal to attract her attention so we could pay the bill. It was slow enough that our guests commented on it at the end of the meal--embarrassing, of course, but correct. The Bottom Line: the location, ambiance and food are all fine, but the service has really gone downhill over the past year.
In town with my family for a D.C vacation. Had happy hour in the bar one night. Specials were very large portions! The fresh squeezed grapefruit with vodka cocktails were fantastic! Then went back the next night for Thanksgiving dinner. Two of my kids and i had the turkey entree. It was sooo good! My husband loved his swordfish and my oldest son loved the buffalo wings! Fabulous dinner! Very very nice waiter!
This has become our go-to restaurant for Thanksgiving Dinner over the past several years. This year, the food portions were generous and the food was perfectly prepared. Although the set price did not include dessert, the price was excellent for all that was on the plate. And, frankly, we didn't have room for dessert!
We made reservation but when we arrived we were told to wait for quite a while. Our calamari appetizer was really salty. My order of the new york strip was over cooked. My baby’s order of spaghetti was left out in the food heater so when it was served the noodles were all crispy. Truffle fries were also overly salted and soggy. Spending almost $300.00 would havent been a problem if the food was satisfactory. I will not recommend or go back. Thank you
Went here with my significant other for a quick dinner after shopping in DC. It was quiet and classy with fantastic food. Our server was wonderful and answered all of my questions about dishes with ease and we got a nice booth to sit comfortably together. This is a wonderful place for a date or anniversary.
The situation was the restaurant's salute to Veterans As a Viet Nam veteran I want to thank McCormick and Schmick sincerely for their gesture. The food was superb, the service excellent, the reservation was on time and the entire experience I would rate outstanding. Thank you.
I visited during the Respect Veterans Meal offer. While finding an ideal time for dinner during such a promotion was not available, I settled for a late lunch and was not disappointed. The fare was varied and tasty. The service was great. The meal was free allowing for a great tip to my waiter! I have been coming to this McCormick's for two years. They try to do a credible job in the challenging face of hiring and training wait-staff. Sometimes the wait time during lunch, given the size of the customers present leaves something to be desired, they do try and fulfill their promise to great food and service. I believe they would increase their customer base by discounting certain evenings and times when customer demand is at the week's low. Recommend you drop by and see for yourself. Do lunch though first. It's a better value and gives you a sense of the food and service. Edward
Our meals were good but not stellar. The crab cakes had a lot of filler. The Maryland crab soup had lots of crab but lacked a bit in vegetables. The salads were tasty but not very good. For the price (pretty average) I think there are better seafood restaurants.
Our waitress, Chanel, was nice and accommodating even while she was serving a large party next to us. For the number of people, it wasn’t extremely loud but was a bit noisy.
I might go back if I were in the area but would recommend it with reservation. We had a limited sample of the entire menu. There appeared to be other restaurants within walking distance that we might try if I’m the area.
