The tables was sticky but the bar tender wipe it a couple times then got napkins to line our table so we can enjoy the night. Asked if I could substitute seafood for chicken and that was a yes... I never knew this... Yay no more fries for me...
I wouldn't recommend this place. The waiter was very slow and he took forever getting back to see how we was doing. It was not great at all.
Enjoyed every second! Everything was absolutely delicious. Service was outstanding. I will return post COVID.
Soup was very good as was last years. Meal was mediocre, compared to last year. Had to ask for bread. Drink looked like half had spilled on the way to the table.
Luck of the draw.
Pretty much always a first rate expereince, which is why we come here. Always will be on the pricey side, but the little service extras are always nice -- like splitting up one dinner order between two people and adding a little flair to the presentation to boot!
The food wasn’t worth the price ticket. My mashed potatoes weren’t fresh but came to the table cold, the salmon was very bland, the waiter came back to the the table three times because he was offering drinks that weren’t available. My husband’s fish was dry and his fries weren’t fresh either. The only good thing was the bread and butter!
Great experience. Social distancing and safety protocols were clearly being followed. Very nice time celebrating our anniversary.
The service was absolutely horrible, the server kept forgetting about us. We sat outside however it was somewhere cool and the service was very sporadic. The food was average at best
I was seated without having a server..So I was over looked and service was slow. A server tried to may my experience a little better once she notice what happened.
Azeb was the best server ever! She was professional and friendly and made us feel very welcome.
This review should be titled "Old School Fine Dinning Resting On Its Laurels". In the ultra competitive fine-dining restaurant market M&S seems to be stagnant in the "over the top dining experience" like it seemed to pride itself years ago". I will admit we try to eat at M&S every year because of the Veterans Day special and it just seems to loose a little appeal every year.
First we ordered of the Vets Special menu, a 10-oz center cur sirloin with mash potatoes and upgraded to the $10 walnut & blue cheese salad and desert option (we were told they were making their awesome crème brulee, which is always a treat. Then my wife had the $25 Sunday 3-course special of a Caesar salad, crab cake stuffed flounder and desert, which was a chocolate silk cake. All good or so we thought. This is were the fine went out of dining at M&S (remember the crème brulee was being prepared according to our waiter).
First we get our drinks me a perfect Manhattan and the lovely wife a Resiling (both very good), then a basket of awesome sourdough bread, but no bread plates (maybe COVID)? The salads come and both were very good, then after a medium wait our entrees arrive. But lo and behold, a full size sirloin with no mashed potatoes but over asparagus and a crab and shrimp stuffed flounder with green beans and mashed potatoes? We call our waiter, to tell him we have the wrong food and he offers use free drinks? However, the food is good and we eat it. Then the desert orders are taken and they have no creme brulee after 40 minutes of ordering. Kitchen manager should be fired for that travesty, so we both have a underwhelming chocolate cake. Then the real fun comes as we get our bill.
The waiter appeared to have out every thing ala-cart with the special and it was about $25 dollars more than expected. It took 3 times for them to get it correct. Overall the food was good, the experience not so much. May look for another fine dining restaurant for Vets Day even if we pay more.
Meals were ordered for takeout.
The bag with meals was waiting on the counter top on time as requested.
The duty manager also loaded the order into my Landryselect card and applied the $25 credit in the card from previous purchase.
I took the order home and since we had a visit scheduled with grandson, I put the steak and veggies in the refrigerator. When we returned home, I heated the steak in the microwave for brief time. The steak was ordered medium and even after a visit to the MW, the steak was warmed but not overcooked.
Everything about the meals were just fantastic.
Took entirely too long for my check- almost 30 minutes- crazy-
Great service and excellent food will attend again
Excellent choice for quiet intimate dinner. Great food and exceptional service.
The service was impeccable. The food would marvelous. It was our first visit and we definitely will return.
The waiter was very nice and friendly with good knowledge! He was very attentive but not pestering. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. We were celebrating our 24th Anniversary and chose the restaurant for the 1st time since we heard so much about it. The whole experience was terrific
The service was great, and the server was professional and superb. The food was awesome, no complaints. I would recommend this restaurant to persons in that area.
Lobster tail was small and tasted bad, steak was good, as was the desert. Server was disinterested in helping us at all - worst service we’ve had in a long tine. We will not bet returning
Love this location. I will be back!
The service was amazing and the food was amazing!
Food was cold and distasteful for the both of us
We gave this place another chance. The last time was marginal at best. This time was the last. One meal was terrible. We won't be back. Expensive and a very limited menu. They were out of my first choice which limits the menu even further. Bone Fish is now our "go-to sea food restaurant of choice. M&S has really gone down hill sorry to say.....
A pleasant dinner. My server was not very attentive, had to go ask about single malt scotches, never brought any bread. The filet and salad were really good. Had a couple of large groups at nearby tables that in the pandemic world was a little concerning. Saw a couple of staff with their masks down as they walked about.
Despite these few issues, still like M & S and will be back!
The fish and sides were really bland and not unique. The bartender didn't feel like doing much table waiting towards the end of the evening.
I specifically asked to have dessert brought out for my fiancée in the notes on our reservations. The server was not personable at all and the food was basic. I honestly could’ve took my $60 and cooked it myself!
This place is horrible. I don’t recommend at all. My wife’s steak was uncooked, my sister in law salmon was uncooked. Overall service was poor.
The experience was good. My friend and I were seated outside which we requested but the tables were pretty wobbly which caused my water to slide down and fall on me while the waitress put it on the table. She didn’t care to address what happened or adjust the obviously wobbly table. Other then that drinks were good, dinner food could have been better.
Good business lunch and spaced out appropriately from other tables.
I was literally the first and only person in the restaurant. Service was great and the food was delicious as usual.
no one came to greet us for 30 minutes after being seated
I had a reservation for my wife and I, it was our 33rd year anniversary, I requested a booth and we were seated in a corner where the waiters went back and forth disturbing the romantic mood I was hoping for.So we left and went down the street to Ruth Chris.
Clam chowder temperature was less than room still. Had to send it back.
Service was that of a fast food restaurant yet, more costly. Staff lacked expected level of professionalism. Perhaps judged by attire...
No parking validation...
My friend and I went to Happy Hour on July 20, my first visit to a restaurant since the lockdown began in March. We sat in the bar, and the tables were nicely spaced. Our waitress was quite busy, but we never felt neglected. Drinks and pick-up food (fish tacos for me) were excellent.
We will be going back next week.
Service was outstanding and friendly. My wife and I had our first dinner out for quite some time so it was refreshing to have a sense of normalcy. The fish and chips and fried shrimp were subpar. Didn’t seem fresh or perhaps they were prepared as part of a limited menu offering. Fries were somewhat stale and over-salted. Our waitress was great and attentive. We might go back post-COVID and give them another chance. I would recommend based on atmosphere and service BUT, hold off going until freshness of food is improved.
First indoor dining experience since Covoid closed everything down. I felt safe and everything was done well while social distancing. The food was good. Limited menu, but still had some good things on there.
Terrible service food was ok
We made reservation for lunch on June 17 a day earlier and received the confirmation. We showed up on time, the restaurant did not show up. Doors were locked and there were no one inside. This is the second time we made reservation at this restaurant and both times we showed up, but the restaurant was locked. total disregard to our time. Will not dine there again.
Pretty disappointing. All of the food was just meh. Kids Mac & cheese was box quality. Fish and Chips was ok but I’ve had better at half the price. Crab cake sandwich was not good. Service was slow with only two tables, seven total customers. Former location in Virginia Beach is now closed but was WAY better.
My friend had asked for filtet minion to be cooked well done. We had to send it back 4 times. While this was happening, my food got cold. We asked to speak to a manger, but was told they were not there.
Birthday lunch! Fabulous time.
