McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit and we would definitely go again. Dinner menu had a nice variety. Our server was awesome! He took great care of us. It was my daughters 21st birthday and they made a special menu for her. It's a little on the pricey side, but it was a great evening and well worth the money with the great service we received. Was not disappointed at all.
Overall our evening was great. Our only issue was we made a reservation and when we arrived we were told it would be 20-25 minutes. That would have been ok on a busy night but when the hostess sat us at an empty table right by the door 20 minutes after we arrived and that had been sitting empty the whole time we were standing waiting, it was very disappointing. The hostess seemed a bit frantic. We just assumed we would have a nice quiet table inside, not by the cold door.
Hostess was horrible. We stood in front of her and she did not call our name. We waited while she was seatiing people who had reservations 15 minutes after us. When I questioned her she said she didnt see me and sent me a text. dont always carry my phone and I was standing less than 5 feet from here the entire time we were there and she even asked me our names twice...
Food was excellent...
New years eve. I understand that you are going to be busy, but you as a restaurant should know that as well. Made a reservation for eight people here two weeks prior. Table was ready and no issues with that. Big issue though was that our server literally walked out on us. He left the restaurant. He seemed shaken and not very experienced from the get go. We were left there for a solid half hour with no refills, no idea when are meal was coming. When are meals did come, everyone at our tables was wrong except 2 of us. And they forgot my wife's steak entirely. Got new waitress who told us what had happened and the story. She was nice and did a good job and we knew it was not her fault. But at the end of the meal, which took over 2 hours, no comps, no free dessert, not anything. Made us all pay for our entire bills. I understand I should of said something when I was there, but thats ridiculous. It was new years even and we just wanted to get out of there. Food was good, but very, very poor job on making up for the many mistakes the staff made. Could not believe my wife's steak wasn't paid for cause it was completely forgotten, or at least free dessert for the table or something. I really like this place but maybe it is just best to dine here on a quiet non-holiday it seems.
Our appetizer and soup and salad came at the exact same time and was cold. Before we even got everything situated, our meals (filets and lobster) came out. Everything ended up cold because we couldn’t eat that much at once. Our bread came out last which was actually hilarious at that point. We didn’t get to order the drinks we wanted because we were too busy juggling what food to eat. Never again!
After being seated I had to approach the hostess to get our waiter to come to the table. When he finally did he was super annoying and "familiar" in his demeanor toward us. I also had to ask for bread. We dined at 4:15 p.m. On New Years Eve and the restaurant was not busy. Food was warm. Vegetable side was par cooked. Disappointing experience.
I've been to many M&S's over the years in many cities. This was my first visit in Columbus, OH. It was Friday night before new Year's Day on Monday. The restaurant was not busy, actually, less than 20% of the tables were occupied. Our waiter was very nice, but not attentive. Our order was delivered incorrectly, our wine glasses were not filled, even when empty for several minutes. The bread was never refilled, and the list goes one.
I don't know if this was an issue with staffing on a slow night - it always seems service is worse when it's slow- or just a bad waiter.
food only average, service very spotty, seemed server was in a hurry to get "rid " of us. This was a return visit to this restaurant, disappointed with our treatment especially the "pitch" to join the
Landry Restaurant Group Club, thought it was very out of place.
It was Christmas and even though we had a reservation we still had to wait 40 minutes to be seated and then another 40 minutes to get our food. Our beans were raw. It was not a good dining experience. The waitress was as attentive as she could be considering the crowd and she was extremely apologetic.
Due to overbooking and staff shortage in serving tables and in the kitchen on Christmas Day, we had to wait over an hour past our reservation time to get seated. Then there was another long wait for our food to be delivered to the table. There should have been a limited menu and more staff.
I have dined at this restaurant before on special occasions but this time had to wait 45 min before getting seated, and i had a reservation. The appetizers and soups came out quickly but we had to wait for over 45 min before our main entrees came out, and i had to send mine back because the temperature of the steak wasn't right. During the wait after our soups there was no visit from our server to refill our drinks or to explain why our food was taking so long. Overall very disappointed, especially for a supposed fine dining experience.
Had a reservation for 2 people at 5:45pm. Called restaurant around 4pm to ask if we could move our reservation up to 5pm. Lady who answered phone said we can come early but not sure we can get seated. Okay, definitely not going early. We arrive at 5:45pm and the host told us they are running behind and it would be 30-45 minute wait. What happened to our 5:45pm reservation???? And why didn't they tell us that they were running behind when we called at 4pm? Waiting area was packed with other customers who were also waiting to be seated. No where to stand or sit & too cold to wait outside. Husband tried to get a drink at the bar & the girl, I think her name was Debbie, told him she could not bring the drink over to the right side of the bar. I think we finally got seated around 6:30pm. Ordered two appetizers; the shrimp wrapped in bacon was burnt. Not good at all. The oyster rockefellers were not tasty at all. Placed our dinner order. Waited & waited. Finally, server comes out with small loaf of bread. Huh, shouldn't he have brought that to the table when we sat down? After 2 hours and no dinner, we were pretty disappointed. We did not want to spend all christmas evening at McCormick & Schmick's. After a terrible time and dealing with terrible customer service/employees, we decided to get up and leave. Didn't even get our dinners. Would never go back to this restaurant. Made for a terrible christmas evening. Thank goodness Steak n Shake was open.
Had reservation, wasn't seated until 45 mins after reservation time. Service was slow as molasses, took over 30 min for food to arrive after ordering. We were continuously told that the kitchen was backed up. If you cannot properly staff for Christmas, don't take so many reservations or open at all. Food was cold by time it came out and not everyone's food came out at same time. Very disappointed in this dining experience. Christmas dinner ruined. Will not return or recommend to others.
I usually have a great time with you guys. I come very often for lunch and dinner. It seemed though like you poorly plan Staffing for Christmas dinner. With reservation still had long wait and dinner and drinks tooks forever. It was roughly a 3 hour experience and we had a reservation. I will come back but just sharing my 2 cents.
We had to wait 25 mins to be seated for our reserved time. It was freezing out and people had to stay around by the door. You over booked. Then we had to wait a very long time for our food. Our waiter was great and let us know what was going on. Our food came out hot which we appreciated.
As always, excellent food and excellent service. We had Christmas dinner with our family and everything was excellent - one additional nicety is you don't have to do the dishes when the family dinner is over. We had a great family gathering, did not feel rushed, service was excellent, and the food great. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone for everyday dining or special occasions.
The food was awesome. Had the Mahi Mahi with crab on top. It was delicious. The fried shrimp was also good. The apple upside pie was great. Definitely needs to scoops of ice cream. The server was slow and had to wait on him several times. Aside from that the food was great.
We attended Christmas afternoon. The traffic was light to moderate. We waited 10 mins to be seated for our reservation and waited another 15 to be greated. We were not wished a Happy Holidays at any point. We were not made aware of any specials. The waiter continuously tried to get us to order alcohol, and both of us are sober. Salads were poor and seemed out of a bag. Bread was poorly cut and our glasses were not refilled without asking. Crab cake was poor. It took over an hour after that to receive our entrees. My steak was delivered without a steak knife, was under cooked, and cold. 20 mins later I received my same plate back w the same piece of meat, and ice cold asparagus. My steak was comped w minimal apologies. I watched a table of 8 next to me, who arrived before our table, not receive their food until we received our check. They were not offered bread or drinks. As we left and walked through the bar area, there was only one bar tender and it was packed. I watched another couple return their steaks. Reservations were running 30 mins behind. It was a horrible Christmas experience for 2 1/2 hours. The other entree and salads were not comped which was unfortunate. This steakhouse does not hold a candle to Hyde Park or Mitchell’s. It’s the Applebee’s version of a steakhouse. Actually Applebee’s has much better customer service. Christmas dinner was ruined which was the worst part of it all
We went for Christmas lunch. While I am glad they were open, the food tasted subpar and I actually had to say my king Crab was over cooked and inedible. Although they did bring a lobster tail because they were out of crab, the meal was still not very good. Waiter was friendly and fairly attentive.
One of the worst experiences we had at a restaurant. This was for our family Christmas Eve dinner. We had reservations, got to the restaurant and was told even with the reservations that we would have to wait 25 minutes to be seated. We sat down after the wait, and we didn't have our waiter ask us for our order for 40 minutes. The food wasn't good either. I would not recommend this restaurant, they were unorganized and it wasn't worth the price.
Christmas Eve Dinner- 7pm Reservations
Arrived early and was told that there was about 20 minute wait. Seated at 7:25pm.
The waiter was good and professional, but did not let one of our party know that her lobster bisque would not be out until all of our dinners were ready. Upon ordering, we received our salads and shrimp cocktail in a fairly reasonable time. Our main course dinners, however were served after an hour wait time!! This is unacceptable! We had 2 people that were nearly 80, and myself, a Type 1 Diabetic with an insulin pump. With such an extreme delay, my parents were uncomfortable and hungry ; I developed severe hypoglycemia with my blood sugar going as low as 51 (normal range 80- 120). The meals arrived at nearly 9:00pm.
I will say that McCormick and Schmick's waiter apologized and offered us free dessert. Thanks (from the girl with Type 1). It was the topic of conversation at Christmas Dinner when all the relatives arrived! They were appalled and not interested in visiting the restaurant in the future. Poor experience, for what should have been a lovely evening.
We had to wait about 2 hours from time we ordered until food was served. We we went to take a picture someone cleared our table before we got our meal. On the holidays you expect places to be busy but the service here was awful and food not worth the wait or prices.
Brought my Mom & daughter here for Christmas Eve. Expected to share a nice dinner and purposely made early (6:30 PM) reservations to attend an evening church service after dinner. Once seated, took our server 15 minutes to first come to the table. Ordered appetizers, but was told they're out of lobster - at a seafood restaurant - at 6:45 - on Christmas Eve. How does that happen? Restaurant was busy. Watched a nearby table get upset and argue with their server. Waited and waited and waited for entrees. Waiter came by a few times and said the kitchen was running behind. Then our server disappeared. At 9:00 when Our server came back, I said we've been waiting over 2 hours and he said "sorry, there are 6 tickets in front of you." We were frustrated and actually discussed leaving. Finally, around 9:15 our food came. It was just okay, but by this point we just needed to eat and go so we could get to our church service. The bill came, no apologies for the wait, no manager stopped by, no offer for a dessert or discount, nothing. I won't return to this restaurant; it's not worth it. I shared the story with colleagues and someone said they heard from another friend that they wouldn't go back there. There's a management problem here and the restaurant is loosing patrons. Based on my experience, I doubt they really care.
