McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
It was Veterans Day observance by them even though Veterans Day was still a week away. The place was VERY busy but we got a table in the bar thank to Lauren who ended up being our waitress. She was FANTASTIC. Efficient but still friendly, honest in her appraisals of selections, and a good sense of humor. The coconut shrimp was not so overpowering in coconut that you could not taste the shrimp and the mango chutney was superb. My salmon was tasteful and not overdone and Dorothy's steak medallions were not seasoned to the point where you cannot taste the beef. the perfect ending was the sorbet.
I and my guests enjoy our meal. However our server was horrible. We only seen him when order was taken, bought out and to give us our bill. He never can to check to see if we needed anything and if everything was alright. I will still come back, but I hope he will not be our server again, if so, I would ask to be seated somewhere else.
Service on the special occasion of the Veterans Day was professional and respectful and friendly. The meal was great with better options this year. This was our second Veterans occasion. Thanks for recognizing Veterans. It is such a treat for your thoughtfulness. And in this area, you are one of the few to offer the meal totally complimentary. Plus, you are one of the best restaurants in this city!
Food and ambience was excellent. We had been to another in Cincinnati and this M&S was better in terms of ambience. While the service was very good, our waiter (John) came on a little too "strong". While his entrée recommendations were excellent and spot on, he was almost obnoxious several times. Perhaps this is management's direction to upsell, but when I am stuffed and don't even want to look at a dessert menu, I don't appreciate someone telling me to "JUST LOOK AT IT" (i.e. the menu) rather forcefully. We we were too middle aged ladies having a late dinner after a long day of spa and shopping, and it made me rather uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was fantastic and I will definitely return.
Out of the sea bass at 6pm. Ordered last round of drinks and a dessert and took over 30 mins we canceled it because we were tired of waiting and didn’t want to rush enjoying it. :( sever was great and food was great as well! Not sure what happened towards end of the night.
Arrived early for our reservation and was seated right away. Our waiter, sorry I can't remember his name but he was fairly new and had transferred from a Cincinnati restaurant. He was very attentive and kind. He took very good care of us. The blackened whitefish and ribeye steak was cooked to order and delicious. Crab cake appetizer also perfect. The meal, drinks and service....outstanding! No hesitation, I would definitely recommend McCormick and Schmick to family and friends. Thanks for making our date night even more special.
Excellent experience! Pre dinner cocktails were good and creative. Friendly bartender added a positive note to the evening. Seafood choices for dinner surpasses expectations and the service was prompt and courteous. A steak choice was delayed by the kitchen and the waiter comped desert for the entire party of four...nicely done. Will recommend to others for an enjoyable night out.
The food was good but not terribly exciting. The service was prompt and courteous and the restaurant is very attractive. It was a good place to meet with friends on a Saturday night and we did not have any trouble making a reservation. Also, the location at Easton gave us something to do after dinner just strolling around looking in shops. A nice evening out.
A special birthday dinner with family. I ordered buttermilk shrimp with a side of spinach. server brought entree and said it was made with fries so Id get the fries and spinach. the spinach had a hair in it wrapped in the spinach. server took back and another person brought out new spinach. We should have not been charged for the spinach side in place of fries, their error to bring both. Should have removed the charge due to error was in place of fries or made dinners free due to hair. No real apology and server made joke about hair in food. We were shocked.
The service was good and I love the ambiance. The food was generally a disappointment. My wife's Caesar salad was extremely fishy tasting. Her scallops were tasteless. My steak was not done as requested. It come out medium rare as apposed to medium well. We have eaten here before and have enjoyed it, however this time was a disappointment.
First time visit to this restaurant! Booked through Open Table asking for them to have a bottle of Malbec ready for a special night and they nailed it! The wine was excellent, food was very good, and the service was outstanding. I was a little disappointed in the scallops but they were still very tasty. The entire experience was really very nice but I’m not sure I’ll be a frequent customer.
Service was fair, but the meal was just ok. Server came out AFTER we ate our salads to let us know that they ran out of filet, and the chef was coming back to pull out additional steaks or we could order something different IF WE DID NOT WANT YO WAIT...? Aren’t you a steakhouse....?
We eat here a lot for business lunches and the food is consistently good. I admit to being disappointed by the shrimp "scampi" - as it lacked the qualities I associate with "scampi" - those being GARLIC, BUTTER and Lemon. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't scampi. Way too much acid, not enough butter and needed salt. The fresh oysters were amazing; the salad was delicious and the perfect size. Everyone else in our party seemed happy with their meal. Our server was great and the atmosphere is always perfect for a business lunch because it's quiet enough to actually talk.
the follow up from open table was rude and offensive.
when I called the acting manager today, he was trying to understand, but I know a brush off when I hear one. I am very disappointed in my whole follow up experience with this dining group, and especially the open table organization.

Once seated, we waited 15 minutes until I went to the hostess stand to see if we had a waiter. Our waiter was out there and made it uncomfortable. The food was great just poor service. Another waiter was vacuuming the floor at 8pm on a Friday night around people eating. Why?
When we were done eating and waited another 15 minutes, I had to go back to the hostess stand to get our check. My wife and I rarely get a date night. We will not go back to this place simply because of the service. This is my first ever review and only because it was that bad of service.
We booked a table for 11 on a Sunday only to find out when we arrived that they don't open til later. We were told to come back at 11:30 and we could sit then. We went back at 11:40 only to be told that they didn't actually open til noon and were rudely sent away. Open table does have to change its booking times for Sundays. We won't go back.
