McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
We came here for a birthday dinner for a couple of friends. We had made reservations but a few were running late, and we weren't able to be seated until everyone was there. Once we were seated we waited about 35 minutes just for our drinks. Everyone's drinks were good, but the food not so much. Only a couple out of a group 10 really enjoyed their meal. I got the crab stuffed salmon and it was very bland. It is kind of a pricey place to not enjoy your food.
This visit was my second to this restaurant. The first visit was a bad experience. This one was worse. The service was terrible. I can appreciate that the kitchen maybe busy and that is why the food took a long time. The server was a ghost. He rarely checked on us. The kicker was when we got our coffee but it was cold by the time the milk arrived. I will not return to this restaurant. There are too many alternatives in downtown Cincinnati to chose from.
Ordered clam chowder and got lobster bisque. Entrees arrived while first course was still being eaten. King crab legs came without a seafood fork, had to use my fingers to coax crab out of shells and waiter never came to check on our status. Meal was quite a disaster. Never going there again.
I have had not so good experiences with McCormick and Schmick’s in the past but decided to give them another chance. Bad idea. Service was slow and the restaurant was not busy. It took 20 minutes to get a drink. I asked for my salmon well done and it was not. I will not be returning.
The food was great except for the fact that the chopped salad came with way too much dressing on it. I didn't ask to get the dressing on the side, but I would check to see if they'll do that for you. But our soups and entrees were excellent, the bread was tasty, the handmade cocktails were among the best we've had, and our server was excellent. He was attentive, courteous, and thoughtful. We were going to the theater after dinner, and he even offered to let us keep our dessert in their cold case with our name on it and come back for it later.
We had a three generation party - grand daughter, daughter, my wife and me - that thoroughly enjoyed a midweek venture to M&S during Cincinnati's Restaurant Week. Service was very responsive to both the grown ups and the 6 month old. The whole wait staff smiled and tended. We had some tough choices on the promotional menu, but everything hit the mark. In addition, the cocktails were top-notch. We had a delightful, well-paced dinner.
I had several really good meals at this restaurant but this time was not so good. The place was nearly empty and it took a long while to get our food. When we did get it, one of our party discovered 2 hairs on their food and sent it back to get a new one. The manager came out and apologized for the incident and offered us 2 free desserts to make up for it, which was very nice. We were disappointed in the slow service and the issue with the food for one of the guests. I will think hard and long before I go back there again. With so many options close by, the staff should really get their act together. This was a business lunch and we ended up being there over an hour and a half!
The first two times I visited this establishment I was content. Not amazed. But content. The third visit however was very disappointing. For the price of the food you expect a quality product. The steak was dry and tasteless, the crab legs were small and tough.
The service was horrendous. I had to remind the waiter more than once that we were waiting on drinks and when he was needed for refills or Misc items he was no where to be found.
Next time I want to spend that kind of money I will take it to Jeff Ruby, Tony's, or Jags!
It was the most awful food I've had in a very long time. From the poorly trained server, to the expensive and tasteless restaurant chain food, I would not recommend this property to anyone. It was a total waste of my money and my time. Sadly, it was a birthday celebration. Could not have been more disappointed for my Birthday guests.
Our server was nice but barely attentive. I ordered a filet medium-rare and when it came it was mid-well to well done. I never send food back but this wasn't going to work. I was as pleasant as I could be and the server was polite back but then we didn't see her for a long time. The kitchen manager brought the new steak out and was very nice and cordial. The lobster potatoes were amazing and the chocolate bag was tasty too but the service and king wait for a check left a lot to be desired.
Loved the restaurant, my only concern was the dress code. I think Casual or Smart Casual would be best. I was going to the Theater and there were parties seated in the same area in t-shirts and short pants. I was in a shirt and tie my date was in a formal dress. Took a little away from the ambiance but I dealt with it. Wait staff was amazing and well polished.
Will go back again!
