McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
The lobster bisque and king crab legs were better than the legs and bisque I had last week in southern Florida at a very fine restaurant! Swordfish was fresh and tasty. We were in kind of a rush and the staff accommodated our time constraints. The Caesar was terrific. Service was second to none.
5:45 reservation - immediately ordered drinks and appetizers as we had Pops tix for 8:00 - drinks arrived around 6:10 - as it took awhile, we were ready and ordered dinner at that time - dinner arrived at 7:15, 5 minutes before we were ready to walk out - observed manager apologizing to many tables - terrible having to slam down an expensive meal when what we wanted was a nice night out with the family
We were on a tight time schedule due to Friday traffic jams and theater tickets, and our waiter made sure we were able to have a relaxing, enjoyable meal within that time frame. I really enjoyed the seafood trio, and other folks enjoyed their food and drink very much.
My partner and I have both been to M & S in other locations, but this was our first time in Cincinnati and will most likely be our last. We had a reservation at 6:30 and it was almost 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at the hostess stand. It was another 20 minutes before waiter finally got to our table. We both ordered steaks and appetizer. The shrimp kisses were very good. They forgot to bring my partners Caesar salad, and my lobster bisque had been sitting so long it had a thick film on the top when it got to the table. She also got an order of plain mashed potatoes which arrived cold and I got the red pepper potatoes which were lukewarm at best. Overall it was a disappointing meal.
Took us over an hour to get appetizer or drinks after being seated. General Manager apologized and said he put too much on our waiter, but that was it which doesn’t get me back the hour of my life waiting. My wife and I drive to Cincinnati and stay downtown and always look forward to dining at M&S. After this experience, we will not be back.
My wife and I hadn’t been out on a date in a while. We wanted to eat somewhere downtown. We thought McCormicks would be a great place to relax and have a nice seafood dinner. The music was kind of loud and not very good. Food was above average, but not worth $50 a head. Staff was very nice and well educated on the menu. Overall we were not impressed.
The evening started out poorly. We arrived 5 minutes befor our reservation time and were told we would be seated shortly. 20 minutes later l asked why we weren’t seated. The hostess looked at her screen and said it indicated we had already been seated. Finally got a table and the waiter took our drink order and said he’d be right back with some bread. He came by three times and said he’d be right out with some bread. When it finally came it was only two pieces! We ordered and asked for a change or two. A substitution of asparagus for Brussels sprouts. When the food finally arrived there was no sauce topping one of the entrees as there should have been and there were no potatoes on my order as were inducated on the menu. The waiter did offer to get the potatoes, however, by that time we were almost done and everything had taken so long that we only had time to ask for the check as we had tickets to a concert. This is the second bad experience in a row I’ve had with the restaurant. I won’t be going back.
This was probably the worst McCormick experience ever. It started with waiting for the wine for ever, followed by all the food being done wrong. First they managed to overlook most of it, and then leave it sitting someplace and as a result most of it was cold. I’m assuming that the people that know how to run the restaurant were on Thanksgiving break...
We had Thanksgiving dinner here and were disappointed in the entrees (we did not do the turkey dinner). I had to send my flounder back as it was greasy and overcooked. It tasted like old grease and was supposed to be parmesan crusted but you couldn't tell! My husband's salmon was raw and he had to also send his meal back. I ordered scallops instead and they were also greasy and overcooked. The sides were good as was the bread. And the dessert was wonderful. And we did have excellent service by Valansia and the general manager!
Unfortunately, McCormick & Schmick no longer is a top choice of restaurants in Cincinnati. Service has been deplorable the last several visits, takes forever just to get water, and the value of the meal is sub-par. After waiting around 10 minutes for water, I ended up pouring water for our table.
The food was unsatisfactory. The Hawaiian tuna arrived thrown all over the plate and approximately 4 ounce of tuna was served on top of a heaping mound of wasabi mashed potatoes. The tuna was easily consumed in 4 bites; the entree was a disgrace.
There was a pile of dirty dishes stacked by the water pitchers for the entire duration of our meal.
Between horrible service and over priced meals, as a Landrys Select member, I can no longer recommend McCormick & Schmick.
Not the best night. We waited over two hours for our dinners and when we got them you could tell that they had sat for a long period of time and were cold. One person at our table had a medium rare steak that was well done. We got a lot of excuses but the reality was that that the server didn’t serve the meals in a timely manner even though we checked with him several times on the status of the meal. He also seldom checked with us for drinks etc. Not impressed and for the money we spent absolutely unacceptable.
We had a disappointing experience at McCormick and Schmicks.
Husband and I both ordered steaks, cooked medium well.
Husband's steak came cooked medium well, but it wasn't warm.
My filet was overcooked. Tough. My potatoes were not warm.
We had waited fairly long for our food, and they were busy so we opted to eat it as it was delivered. We were 3/4 of the way through our meal before the waiter reappeared to apologize for having not checked on us sooner. And he didn't really ask how the food was.
We haven't been there in years. Enjoyed it fully last time. This time, not so much.
Probably won't hurry back. Too many other great options in town.
I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed in my meal. I ordered the parmesan crusted flounder. It was mostly breading and way overcooked. My guest ordered the trout and was also very disappointed as his meal too was way overcooked. To be fair, my wife ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and said it was good. Our service was very good, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Hope you have better luck than me.
The food is delicious. The service was terrible but the restaurant was very busy. Had a reservation at 6:15 pm the week before and we were given a happy hour menu and we ordered drinks and appetizers. I really enjoyed the restaurant. But on this visit the waiter said we could not get a happy hour drink or appetizer because we were not seated at bar. Very rude about it. Won’t be returning to restaurant
Nice treat before ice skating on fountain square (even though it was a 75 degree fall day)... Our seafood entrees were a veterans bonus=Thank you! We started with mussels, nice glass of Cabernet ... Kids got kids salmon... Wonderful balance & end to week. Some confusion & switching of wait staff, surprised to see a light day? slow on water, but we weren't in a hurry... Very respectful!
Service was wonderful. My flounder was way too salty. My husband’s chicken could have been better. The crab cake was delicious but not hot. My husband’s Cajun pasta was outstanding. A server (or expo) that wasn’t ours brought our meals out. She tried to give us fish & chips that wasn’t ours & my daughter’s child quesadilla was missing. Our server corrected it. I received an email saying we didn’t show to our reservation & informing me of the no show policy. I had to email back saying yes I did.
