McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Chicago (Wacker Dr.) Ratings and Reviews
Service was very good atmosphere was good and we had an all-around good time. My one complaint is the amount of butter/oil used to cook the meal. I know it is easier to use too much butter but when you have a good steak or a good piece of fish the butter drowns out the taste.
Excellent meal and service! This restaurant will become one of our favorites. I ordered the Chef's choice Hawaiian mahi mahi, which was delicious, especially the wild mushroom risotto. My husband had "Jake's Famous" Bouillabaisse, which was also excellent. However, he had was 1 unopened clam out of 2 and 1 unopened muscle out of 5, which he relayed to the server and she immediately gave us a free dessert. We wanted to alert the chef and their suppliers. The dessert - upside down apple walnut pie with cinnamon ice cream was wonderful!
I really enjoyed my overall experience with McCormick and Schmick’s. I had a reservation for six people that grew into eight. Unfortunately it was a busy night and there weren’t able to accommodate the increase of my guest. Instead we were reseated in the chilly bar area in the front and sat on bar stools for dinner. After sitting for a hour we had to request bread and butter which I believe should have been available to us after we were seated. However, we did get our orders in and received them promptly after. The portion size for each meal was perfect and we all were very pleased. Thanks for saluting us Veterans with a nice fulfilling meal.
I called to advise i would be 10 minutes late and young lady was nice saying no problem. When i arrived it was the attitude not exacty him saying since i was late that he would have to sit others first before me since i was late. I would have accepted it better with a more pleasant attitude. Also, not sure since it was free veteran's day meals that but the food was luke warm. Now my wife loved the apple pie, their crust she says was delicious! For my first time being there and hearing so much about the restaurant...it was just ok.
The food was just okay. Waiter was just ok as well, took 15 minutes to come to the table and acknowledge us. Did not bring out bread right away, not worth the money for the dining experience. I have to agree with the other people reviews about the food, steak was ok, my wife loved the king crab legs, the calamari was delicious. I must say my overall experience with the restaurant was around where I would rate Chili’s but paid way to much for the food. I will not return and could use better seats and invest in a actual booth for customers who want a booth to dine in.
We arrived at 5 pm, before any rush, with a reservation for 10 people. We were seated promptly and the service was very good. The food, however, was very very disappointing, and the time it took to get our food was not acceptable, especially considering we were one of the very few tables there at the time (it was busy by the time we left at 7:45pm). A few of us had steaks, and all agreed the quality of the cuts was not up to par with the price. A few others had seafood, and all thought it was bland. We had several other dinners that week at competing steak and seafood places in the general area, with similar pricing and all were MUCH better food.
Service was very slow, took a long time to get drinks and food. Reservation was at 8pm and didn't get our food until 9:30pm and then when we did get our food everything was cold because someone "left the back door open" by our food. Very disappointing, especially for how much money we spent with our party of 10 people.
My wife and I made dinner reservations for Sunday night while in Chicago on a pleasure weekend. We were greeted right away and sat in a beautiful private booth. Joe our server was very professional and friendly. The food was wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet dinner.
