McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Chicago (Wacker Dr.) Ratings and Reviews
We went there before a show. The food was very good. I had a baked Salmon dish that was excellent. My husband had a blackened fish dish that was good but the blackening spice had salt in it which he did not care for. All in all a nice meal and we would return. Nice variety of wine too
My husband and I decided to eat here for dinner on Valentine's Day! We left our car with the valet. Once, we arrived the hostess seated us. However, we were near the edge of the staircase and I asked if we could be seated somewhere else and she was able to accommodate us after she checked the computer. We were very pleased. with our new table. Our server came over not too long afterwards and he asked for our drinks and we proceeded to provide him with our entrees for the evening. I am glad we did because it took a while for the salads to come out. The food was very tasty and the portions were the right size. Between the two of us we had a steak entree and the stuffed salmon. We enjoyed dinner, but had to wait a little while for our waiter. That is why one star was taken away for service. It didn't seem very busy, but who knows why he was missing at times. Overall, the food and price were reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant, and in particular this location to others.
Early seating for Valentine's Day pre-theater although we were 40 minutes early, it was not busy, and we were shown to our table promptly. Fabulous unrushed dining experience! Server very knowledgeable of menu items and preparations; quality of food consistent with expectations for this above average establishment.
M&S's 2-course lunch options ROCK - choice of a couple of appetizers (i chose a terrific walnut & greens salad) and one of three entrees. i had an OMG northland sauteed salmon that was PLENTIFUL and beautiful and so tasty ... lunch $16. REALLY? Found my new "regular" spot for a "nice lunch". Our server, Yancy, was amazing!
Overall, I think this restaurant is what you would expect from a chain restaurant. It is definitely not a high-end steakhouse, though the decoration on the inside is quite nice and the restaurant is comfortable. If you're trying to take a bigger group of friends out, it would certainly be more affordable than many other restaurants in the loop or River North. So overall, it fills a need for moderately priced food in the neighborhood.
Service overall was poor. Certainly feel they could have done a much better job for me the day I was there. A large table of customers next to me seemed to get better service than me by the same waitress. Something about me being by myself just made her ignore me? Main entree came out when I was halfway done with my salad.
Ordered from the Restaurant week menu. I gave the restaurant 3/5 stars for value, which definitely was helped by the special menu. Ordering straight off the regular menu, I probably would have given it a 2/5 as the prices are a bit high for the quality of the food. That being said, I really enjoyed the salad that came as part of my meal. The steak was bland and chewy, and it lacked the nice grilled flavor you want from a steakhouse. The portion for the main meal was adequate for the price. Dessert was tasty but not especially memorable.
I ordered a bone in ribeye steak, it was horrible, the flavor was awful, there was too much fat on the selection I was given, they should remove steak from the menu or hire a Chef that takes pride in cooking because the chef cooking the night my family and I dined in sure didn't, he/she should be ashamed. On another note our server, Mike, was great.
My husband and I were in for dinner about a year ago, and we were not impressed by the meal. I decided we would try again because we were in the mood for fish. We had dinner Saturday night and it was FANTASTIC! We had the Ahi Tuna and Seabass and wow! Everything was so good! We cant wait to go back!
I went with a group of friends during Restaurant Week in Chicago. The special “Restaurant Week” menu was so limited that it bordered on bait and switch. That menu was so limited that most of this order off the regular, full price menu.
That being said, the food we ordered was good; prepared well, great flavor.
The wait staff was friendly and professional, but appeared to be understaffed. We waited for dinner and drinks longer than normal for this level of restaurant.
Based on all this, I would conclude that it has good staff but poor management. based on all this, I would conclude that it has good staff but poor management
Clam chowder soup is what always brings us back to this restaurant. I think it is the best in Chicago. The staff is very attentive. Food is reliably good. We regularly go to the Goodman Theatre. This is a great option before the show. Only about 2 blocks away.
My name is Carol Ray. Upon arrival, I sat in a booth with my sister Cheryl. We were meeting for lunch, nothing special. Our server, David, was attentive and personable. After Suggesting great options from the menu, we were left to enjoy the atmosphere. Our orders placed, David returned with a basket of bread. It was fresh and warm, served with soft butter. My sister had the lobster bisque, while I went for the Ahi tuna poke. The bisque was perfectly seasoned, with a healthy portion of lobster in the bottom of the bowl. The Hawaiian Ahi was succulent, it melted in my mouth like butter. While it is rather expensive, ($50.00 for our lunch), I feel it was well worth it. It was a dining treat, that I won't soon forget.
You can't go wrong with McCormick & Schmick's. While they are known for fresh and high quality seafood, their selection of steaks will not disappoint. I had the Chef's Sea Bass entree which knocked it out off the par from the first to the last bite. One of my colleagues ordered the New York Strip Steak and was gnawing every morsel off the bone to get the last bit of satisfaction. Another colleague is not a seafood lover but ordered the Fish n' Chips and raved about how light and delicious they tasted. My other colleague ordered the scallops and was quiet throughout the meal. The cleanliness of his plate told the whole story. We all ordered dessert and were completely satisfied with the entire meal.
Ordered the ahi tuna, which had an overwhelmingly unpleasant sesame flavor. Mashed potatoes were doused in horseradish sauce, rendering them inedible (and I like horseradish sauce). Bok choi was not very fresh. Bread was good -- that's the best thing I can say about my meal.
