McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Chicago (Wacker Dr.)
Book your next event with us
We have to thank McCormick & Schmidt's for honoring veterans with a free meal! We appreciate the recognition and know that few restaurants decide to honor veterans. The meal and service was fantastic..
The tenderloin was great, quality service would highly recommend
Perfect ambiance, excellent service & scrumptious food! This is one of our fav date night locations. We can never leave without indulging in our number one favorite dessert, the upside down candied walnut apple pie with cinnamon ice cream! It’s what dessert dreams are made of!
Excellent service, food and drinks as always. Highly recommend when in downtown. Great location.
All the food was good. Service was good.
I ordered a steak that was prepared as asked and tasted great but was stringy as hell. I left half on the plate because I was just tired of cutting it and chewing forever.
Everything else was great.
When we arrived we were shown to our table at the far end of the restaurant in an unattractive corner - a ver wobbly table. The aircon kept blowing icy cold air into the restaurant and it was uncomfortably cold. We changed tables but that did not make a difference. There was a constant ice cold draft, which spoilt the evening for us. The food was good, but this is not a place I would take clients or where I would want to have a nice private dinner.
I absolutely love this restaurant. The drinks were on point. The appetizers were fantastic and the our host was delightful. I will come back again.
The ambiance has very low lightening very inviting. The entire staff was pleasant. The food was good. I went with 3 others and they enjoyed their meal as well.
We thought the food was great..... service was great and we would go again
Our waiter took our orders and seemed extremely rushed and even irritated at us being seated in his section. It became obvious that not only did he have a split section but so did other wait staff. Once he took our drink and food orders we didn't see him again for over 30 minutes. Another waiter delivered our food and I had to flag down someone else to order another drink. Our waiter delivered our drinks and apologized and then brought us a dessert which was nice of them.
The atmosphere was not great because of a) how rushed everybody was and b) several tables around us complaining about all of the service issues. One table even got up and just left they were so fed up with waiting.
I feel bad for the wait staff (being former wait staff ourselves). Management was in over their heads. They clearly did not have enough staff for the amount of tables being sat. That is purely a management decision. You simply...don't seat that many tables. More than 4 tables per waiter and split sections. Waiters don't choose that scenario they are handed that by management. Our waiter had 4-5 tables in our section plus a whole other section on the other side of the restaurant.
Service was insanely slow. It was apparent that multiple tables were upset with the slow service. It was very chaotic, it was noticeable that the staff had no clue what they were doing. The lights turned all the was up for about 15min and staff couldn’t fix it. Food was decent but took almost two hours to come to the table. Terrible experience
Worst steak ever! Took more than an hour to cook even though it was not busy and when we complained, they said someone else served our steak and they just gave us another. Terrible excuse.
Great food, great ambiance! The service was very attentive despite being busy. Only minor drawback is some food isn't worth the price.
Food was excellent as always. Service was a little slower than expected, but we were in no hurry and our waiter did step it up when we commented on train schedule.
One of the BEST meals I have ever had! So delicious. Service was a little slow and they weren’t busy. But overall, it was great.
Service was appalling, we received our mains before finishing our starters. Almost all dishes had sauce spilled over the edges of the plates. Train your staff please.
Excellent restaurant en great food and atmosphere.
Probably not only because there are much better options in Chicago. The only reason I chose your restaurant, is because it was within walking distance of the Chicago Theater.
The food was delicious but we waited an hour to be served. The restaurant did not seem that busy. And when we got the food one of the orders were completely wrong. It was only two of us so my friend had to wait an additional 20 minutes for her food. Also the portions were small. The staff was extremely nice and apologetic but still. I won’t be going back. You can find so many other better options in that area.
Dined at M&S to celebrate my birthday before a show 2 nights ago. Despite previous good experiences and the usual good food, the service experience this time was very disappointing.
We ordered a couple of specialty cocktails at the same time we ordered our meals and were told that it would be a few minutes for the drinks to be made. “Fine”, we said, thinking we’d still have plenty of time to enjoy a cocktail before dinner. My soup came and went, and the drinks were delivered literally 25 seconds before our entrees were placed on the table. Preferring not to drink cocktails while we ate, we let them sit during the meal.
With our meal order, we asked for a side of the cheddar mashed and were told that it comes with my wife’s meal...great! When the entrees came, there were no potatoes. We finally flagged down our server and asked about them. He apologized and went to put in the order.
Several minutes later, he appeared with a plate of mashed potatoes, put it down and walked away. When we tried them, they were actually the lobster mashed potatoes. We didn’t see our server for a while, so I asked someone to have him come by, at which time we pointed out the error. He again apologized and went to request the cheddar mashed.
By the time he brought out the correct potatoes - 9 minutes after we asked for them - we were about 3/4 through our meal, so we really didn’t eat much of them.
When we received our check, the server announced that he had “taken care of” the charge for the mashed potatoes, as if he had done us a favor. We didn’t know whether he meant (1) the wrong potatoes he brought out, which you’d hope we wouldn’t have to pay for, or (2) the cheddar mashed, which he originally told us came with my wife’s meal.
I noted all this on the receipt, along with my email. Still no response.
Great service and food. waiter made several recommendations. We will return.
My husband and I enjoyed our first visit and we will be back. My husband had the surf and turf. The steak was perfect and melt in your mouth. I had the blackened swordfish served on a mound of andouille mash potatoes. We shared a chocolate bag filled with berries for dessert....amazing. Eric was very pleasant and friendly. He seemed to have tables in several areas of the restaurant which seemed to keep him running. We felt kind of bad for him. All in all, it was a great experience.
My food and my mother’s food was cold. Our waiter didn’t come back to check to see if we wanted dessert, she didn’t ask to refill our water, she left and didn’t come back until it was time to bring the check and I thought that was very rude.
Completed the Chicago marathon
Great food, great staff. The drinks were good as well. Clean bathrooms and very accommodating to party changes.
Celebrated our anniversary here. Very reasonably priced for the area and food was on point. We had the crab cakes which were delicious and filet was prepare well. Anna our server was very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend.
Food and service were great
I have been here many times and it is usually vert good. This time though the steamed king crab arrived cold, was flavorless and not well prepared. My husband's fish and chips were very good as usual. So disappointing this particular trip.
Always ultra fresh and presented perfectly!
Our reservation was for 6:30 and we weren’t seated until 6:50. Our server came to our table to bring menus and then she disappeared for 20 minutes. I finally got up and asked the hostess if she’d find her and send her to our table. The food was great. Once I got past the extremely slow service, I enjoyed my birthday dinner.
Enjoyed my Sea Bass at M & S. The other 2 individuals that accompanied me were also very satisfied.
We waited at the hostess stand for a long time despite having this reservation, as the hostess staff seemed unorganized and were quite unprofessional. We were then seated at a table that was right by the kitchen so our dinner conversation was constantly interrupted by wait staff yelling order in order out and whatever else. To top it all off, we also were seated next to another common wait staff area, as the staff was constantly tripping over us, dropping dishes, etc...in that corner. This was not ideal and I will not return. One a high note, the waiter, Julian, provided excellent service.
Loved it. We sat outside because we love skyscrapers, but what I will say is to bring something to cover your skin or make sure you spray yourself with Bug Off or Very because the bugs are my arms and legs up! But Chet was cool and made sure we were okay.
The food was "Ok". Wayyyy too much dressing on the Wedge salad and the steak was decent but definitely not anything to write home about. Veges with the dinner were not very tasty and didn't complement the steak at all. Dessert was good. Spent $400 on 4 people and had heard really good reviews but the experience didn't really live up to them.
Really enjoyed it
The music was too loud. We had to ask to have it turned down, which they did immediately. Conversation should always be able to be easily heard over music. Music should add ambience, not overwhelm.
Great place, always eat here when I visit Chicago. Our waitress was fantastic. Food was great, took clients for dinner. They were thrilled.
Sourdough bread and great steak and seafood.
Great dining experience! Our waiter was superb, the Oysters Rockefeller was excellent as well as our dinner entrees and great deserts (key lime pie, and decadent chocolate silk pie). The ambiance was great to start with but it did get loud towards the end of our meal. Wine prices are a little high, but overall it was a very nice and relaxing experience.
It took 20 minutes before someone took a drink order.
That's after we spoke to the the girl who sat us.
