The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at M & S.
The service and food was lovely. We will definitely keep it in mind in the future.
Fried shrimp overcooked and shrimp lollipop appetizer was undercooked (cheese in middle was cold).
Food only fair…maybe an off night.
We saved our last night in Charlotte on this trip for one of our favorite spots, McCormick & Schmick’s. We’ve dined there on previous trips to the “Queen City”, and always enjoyed it. Janice chose to begin with a glass of the Prosecco Sangria and a shrimp cocktail. I wanted to try the local oysters from Parker’s Island. Briny with good texture and flavor that stood well with the malt vinegar and herb dip that came along them. Oyster lovers like me would appreciate these locals. Our entrees were: a super tender rare filet mignon for Janice and broiled cobia fillet for me. I did request a change in preparation from the one on the menu. The change was handled with no problem by the kitchen. My fish sat on a bed of sautéed spinach and was topped with a salsa of sweet peppers, onion, and chopped peaches. One of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. We finished our meal with their signature “Chocolate Bag “ and a new addition a “Pineapple Butter Cake topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Delicious! We could not end here without a big shoutout to our charming server, Serena. She’s really top notch! Thanks again, Serena. You made a very fine meal even more memorable.
We went to the restaurant prior to attending the Georgia vs Clemson football game. The restaurant had a crowd. We received good service.
Great meal! Expensive at $75 per person for lunch but enjoyed it.
The sea bass was wonderful. The filet had to be sent back and should have been sent back a second time. The asparagus was awful.
It’s been a while since we’ve visited and forgotten how excellent the food is…Parmesan crusted flounder and bourbon glazed salmon were SO good. Just as good was our server, Mickie. She was fun and charming and helpful.
Lobster Mashed Potatoes is a must!!!!
Food was great!! The server was not great little stand off. Forgot a portion of our meal. Gave more energy to the tables around us. Overall the environment was a great! A little noisy but that is ok.
The server was horrible she wasn't attentive and took forever to come back to take our drinks order and food. Plus she talked so fast and her attitude wasn't good. The service wasn't worth the price.
Overall we had the Walnut salad, calamari, fried shrimp and fries and the swordfish. Our food and drinks were pretty good
Wait staff was inattentive, took them 15 minutes to check if our order was right. Menu description was wrong, did not mention everything was flavored with Lemon. Way overpriced for what we got. On the plus side they did take 1 entree off the check, but since we really didn't eat any of it that didn't matter much. The shrimp kisses were good, thats about it. Will never try again.
Me and my bridal party had a wonderful time. Great food
Food was great and brought out quickly after we ordered. One of the salad I ordered was forgotten but overall good experience
Over all very great food and service. Waiters were polite and friendly.
Food was delicious. Server, Nikki, was less than stellar.
Excellent as always
Good food and atmosphere. Steaks were cooked to temps requested. Better than average experience.
THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME THERE. FIRST IMPRESSION WAS NOT GOOD. DECIDED TO TRY IT BECAUSE IT WAS ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR RESTAURANT WEEK IN CHARLOTTE. THE HOSTESS WAS RUDE WHEN SAID DIDNT PARTISIPATE IN THIS YEAR. ASKED TO SPEAK TO MANAGER WHO REQUESTED ME TO SHOW HIM WHERE I GOT THE INFORMATION FROM WHICH WAS OPEN TABLE. HE SAID HE WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT YET MY BILL WAS 126.00 , WHICH MEANS HE DID NOT HONOR MY INFO . THE WAITER WAS EXCELLENT AND THE FOOD WAS OK JUST SHOULD HAVE BEEN WARMER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO OUT OF TOWN GUEST WANTING A GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE.
My sister and I came for dinner! We enjoyed the calamari which was nice and crispy. The filet mignon was cooked well and asparagus was great. Both my sister and I got some extra sides too. I got the Mac and cheese and she got the lobster mashed potatoes. This is where we were not impressed, the Mac and cheese unfortunately tasted like buttered noodles with bread crumbs and the very small side of lobster mash potatoes was overpriced and underwhelming. So, just know that, if you go to visit. Apple pie with cinnamon ice cream was good if you get dessert.
Very nice atmosphere. Food was amazing. Highly recommend.
First off the food was excellent, one of the best salmon dishes ever with bourbon sauce. The steak was great, properly seasoned and cooked well. Sides were good but nothing stood out, service was ok, but as anyone who is going out right now it is very hard for restaurants to staff with experienced people right now so i gave them a break and tipped accordingly.
Here is why i didn't rate 5 stars across the board, because of what happened when leaving. The saying goes your meal is only as good as the last thing that you experienced and this isn't about desert.
Tryon Street is a mess. It is over-run, under policed and didn't afford a safe exit out of the restaurant on a Saturday night. As soon as we left the restaurant we were accosted (means approached) multiple times. Nothing bad happened, but it sure made me feel uncomfortable when people come up to you and ask for money or comment on how you are dressed or whatever.
Having no parking within a block or so is a problem, we had navigate the street back to the parking lot and having to watch over our shoulders is not the way to end an excellent evening and dinner.
I am a NYer, i don't usually feel uncomfortable ever walking around the city, but on this evening I did. I think this is one of the most important reviews I have ever written and people who are going to dinner at this location and read this and should be aware.
Great food! Great service! Great experience!!!
A friend took me out for my 59th birthday
Food was okay at best. Portions were a little small for the price did not seem like I got my moneys worth. Restaurant was generally empty when we arrived and we were squeezed into a tight booth when tables were plentiful. Waitress had to come back a few times to confirm our orders
Server was perfect, attentive, knew when to come back and check frequently and the food was served amazingly quick! Which the things we ordered were great! Nice meal for the price.
While on vacation in Charlotte I noticed your restaurant. I don’t eat steak often but when I do I prefer a good steakhouse.I had never heard of your brand so decided to try. I ordered the 3 ounce center cut filet mignon.
I was not disappointed. It was delicious. I ordered the Romain Caesar salad. Just enough before my entree. Mashed potatoes and asparagus were the perfect side dishes. 2 glasses of Pinot Girgio. It was worth the price for the experience. Highly recommend your restaurants.
Hostess and server were terrific and gave great effort.
“Chef’s selection meal” swordfish dish was tough to chew, poor flavor and lukewarm.
We were a party of 6. We each ordered a different entree and each one loved their food. Every thing was delicious! The upside down apple walnut dessert was amazing !!! Our server was very pleasant. Overall we very much enjoyed the entire experience.
The food was quite good, although the menu contains fewer items than on previous visits, with less fresh fish choices.
Servers should be taught how to open wine bottle and pour wine.
Servers should be taught not to deliver appetizers and salads to the same person at the same time. These courses should be spaced. If some diners are only ordering just an appetizer or a salad and others are ordering both, the diners with just a single order before the entrée should be asked when they would like it served.
Servers should automatically offer bread to diners.
We really loved everything about this place. The drinks, the apps, the food (although my steak was a little over done it was still tasty, the ambience and the service. Nikki, our server, was amazing!! We will definitely look for more McCormick and Schmick's when we travel.
The food and service was great I will say go if you want great food and service
Food came out quick and was perfect. Oysters were amazing
Excellent atmosphere with great service in a pleasant setting
for such a nice looking restaurant, and having the ambience of an upscale restaurant, I was very disappointed with this restaurant. We came around 5pm during the week, and the place was nearly empty, however was looking to get in for some 'happy hour specials'. Was told that the happy hour specials are only for a designated area, but since we were already seated, we wouldn't be able to partake in those specials.
We ordered 2 of each type of oyster (initially), where the waitress didn't remember which was which when they were ordered. We liked one, so ordered a dozen, however they brought out the wrong ones (brought out blue point, rather than the BEAU SOLEIL oysters, which were the ones we preferred.
They were good in terms of my dietary restrictions (dairy), but the waitress came back 4 or 5 times to re-run my order by me, asking each time the same exact thing that was told to her a few minutes prior.
The sea bass was a solid piece of meat, however it was so tiny, that it was barely a meal. for the price of $40, it was definitely not worth it. The salmon that we ordered was cooked too well (when asked for rare), and when asked about it, the waitress stated that is how they have to cook it.
The slowness of the staff was brutal, especially when we were one of 6 tables in the main dining area, and the rest was empty. There were a lot of wait staff standing around chatting, and some were playing on their phones.
Very disappointed with this place
Food was great, waiter was missing a lot. He would be gone for long periods of time when the restaurant was not busy.
Great as usual. Meal with new friends who had never eaten at a M&S
The food was exquisite, and the servers very attentive. The place was clean and elegantly decorated. The location is OK. but there is no private parking nor validation. Parking next door is at least $9 (weekends). The clientele was very casually dressed. The ladies room wasn't very clean. Prices are on the high side and the menu does not have too many options.
