McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Charlotte (Southpark Mall) Ratings and Reviews
We had Saturday dinner. Our appetizers were excellent. My oysters on the half shell were great.
My wife and I both had the lobster Cobb salad. The salad was good except for one glaring miss. The avocados were not even close to ripe. Hard as a rock. By the time our server returned we had made the decision to eat the salad rather than wait. Somewhat disappointing for a high end establishment and expensive salad.
Our party of 6 was there for the veterans dinner (3 were veterans). Our server, Samuel, provided excellent service - even chased us down when we left our credit card. Thank you for honoring veterans and for your excellent seafood, of course. It's always a pleasure to dine there.
This was my first visit and I went for the free entrée for Veterans' Day. It was quite busy, but the service was still very good. I ordered from an abbreviated Veterans' menu and decided upon the buttermilk shrimp. They were very tasty, but I would have liked a couple more shrimp. There were seven mid-sized shrimp. For an entrée of seven, I think they should have been jumbo shrimp. Or had a couple more for the size that was given. I base this upon the normal price for this entrée. But like I said, it was very tasty. The Chesapeake fries were VERY salty.....too salty. The slaw was very good.
My wife chose two items from the appetizers.....a salad and a crab cake. There was only one crab cake so it was a bit pricy. She did enjoy it and said it was tasty. She also had a mixed drink. I will say that the price on the drink was quite reasonable as compared to other restaurants.
Overall, the food was very good, but I believe that the value suffered due to the prices relative to what you get. I don't mind paying a premium, but I don't believe that the food quality or quantity quite reflected that premium price.
I do appreciate the fact that they have this perk for Veterans. Please don't get me wrong. They didn't have to do this and it was mighty nice of them to have this promotion as a way of thanking Veterans. I am just trying to provide an honest review, basing it upon normal pricing that one would encounter on a regular visit.
Several couples attended the Veteran's Day special luncheon put on by McCormick/ Schmick South Park. I can't say enough good things about our experience. We were welcomed, seated in a great area, treated as honored guests and served delicious food. Our waitress, KP, was exceptional! She truly understands the concept of customer service and was a real joy to have waiting on our table. The manager, Melissa, and the staff are extraordinary people. You will totally enjoy your experience here.
We were passing through CLT with an overnight near the airport. Our reliably good experiences with other McCormick & Schmick’s in other Cities stimulated us to try the South Park Store. Our experience at the South Park Resturant lived up to all our other McCormick & Schmick experiences. Because we travel often through CLT there is no doubt we will be back for another great meal!
Enjoyed a nice birthday celebration for 4! We were seated in a nice little private nook, the ambiance in the restaurant is really nice. The food was very good, a little pricey but good. Add the ambiance, the great service and the way our waiter, Samuel treated us and it was worth the extra a money!! We’ll go back!
Unfortunately this visit was disappointing. Tuna tartare appetizer was mediocre. Had Parmesan Crusted Flounder which was just OK with bland side dishes (after waiter steered me away from Alaskan King Crab Legs based on other diner experiences). My partner had Sizzling wild Salmon which was on bed on Swiss chard and carrots with whole pieces of garlic - asked for this to be removed and was substituted with steamed zucchini and orzo - which were undercooked. Needless to say - won’t be back. Not worth it.
My wife and I were celebrating her birthday. We were running a little behind schedule but when we arrived the manager and hostess were on point and seated us immediately. The place was a little busy but service went smoothly. My wife is highly allergic to anything that has tomatoes so there were dishes that she liked that the chef graciously modified for her. Our appetizers were the Calamari Frito Mistro and the Stuffed Mushrooms. Both were excellent and our entrees the Ultimate Mixed Grill and Seafood Trio were superb. Great place for special occasions or just a date night with your special person
Service not great! Waiter was NOT attentive to giving service. Husband had special needs concerning food. Waiter did not place order to chef as required. Did not seem to matter to waiter that food included things my husband told waiter to make sure not on plate, etc. Tense dining, waiter needed help in training! Not a relaxing experience at all.
A lovely evening. Very comfortable with a subdued atmosphere. The scallops were absolutely delicious and would highly recommend the salmon. Our waitress was just phenomenal. She was gracious , knew the menu so well and made great suggestions. I would definitely return and highly recommend to others.
They charge a $15 Corking Fee if you want to bring you own wine which is ridiculous - Other Finer Restaurants than this one do not charge anything! Our waitress was excellent and the overall food quality was very good. If they remove the corking fee I would go back - otherwise not....
A VERY UNPLEASANT CONCLUSION to what would have otherwise been a wonderful evening. DON'T RELY ON McCormick & Schmick's for properly handling your Open Table reservation.
Went for an anniversary dinner, arrived on-time for our 1000 point time-slot, identified ourselves by name and that it was an Open Table reservation. We were seated promptly, enjoyed the appetizers, main course and dessert very much, complimented our waitress to the head waiter on departure.
UNFORTUNATELY, on arriving home, checked email to find the the restaurant had turned us in as a NO-SHOW. The email struck me as patronizing/condescending in tone. BUMMER.
Our server was fantastic...very personable, knowledgeable and efficient! However, our greeting upon arrival left a lot to be desired. Although greeted by name, the receptionist either hadn't read or ignored the notes we attached to our reservation. It was our anniversary but we didn't receive the personalized menu M&S prints for special occasions. Nor did he inform our server that it was our 35th anniversary; she had to ask us. This was very different from our first visit (and previous review) of M&S. I'm undecided as to whether or not we will return.
Anniversary dinner! Special menu just for us and private table. Server was wonderful and everything perfect except loud and obnoxious wait staff talking and hollering across the restaurant and making tons of noise trying to pre-close. My husband and I could barely think to have a conversation at times. Our server did apologize towards dessert time for her loud coworkers without us saying anything to her. For this type of restaurant, we expected a lot more than Waffle House background noise.
The 3-course prix fixe is a real value and excellent choice with a variety of options and ample portion sizes. The green salad with candied walnuts and blue cheese was excellent. I had the beef medallions and shrimp scampi, however all options looked very good, the creme brûlée is lovely, light with a few bites of fresh fruit and sugar burned to perfection. Husband had the love burger-also very good. Kirsten was an excellent waitress, personable and enthusiastic with appropriate recommendations for both wine and food.
