McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Charlotte (Southpark Mall) Ratings and Reviews
We visited during restaurant week and were disappointed in the overall time it took for each course to be served. I should have known better when our waiter introduced himself as "tired" and we never got his name. Appetizers were the best part of the meal as they were fresh but it took quite a while after ordering to get them. There was a 20 minute wait after the plates were cleared before the entree was brought out. My plate had been sitting under a heat lamp long enough for the beef to have the top layer dried out. My wife's lobster tails were tasty but a little dry as well. After dinner was cleared, it took another 20 minutes to get our dessert and if we hadn't asked about it, it would have been longer. The restaurant was only half full after our appetizers were served so I am not sure why it took so long. Weve been happy with our previous visits and hopefully this was a one off.
Service was not as expected especially for me spending $140.00. Entrees took forever to be served, was not very hot and portions were extremely small. The chocolate pie for dessert was the only thing I enjoyed. The cheesecake was bland. Oh and the salad dressing was too tart. That was my first and last time there do no waste your money!
Music was a base pounding beat (likely selected for 20 somethings), my date and I are in our 70's. Music was too noisy!
I had the chicken and the skin was tough and hard to eat --- it was over cooked!
We each had a glass of wine (a cab) which was cheep and did not taste good --- not to be expected from a $ 8.00 a glass wine.
We normally drink wine at home that cost anywhere from $ 5.00 a bottle to $ 30.00 a bottle, and they all taste better than the wine we had with our dinner.
I would not recommend this restaurant to others, nor will I return.
A group of friends enjoying Restaurant Week. The food was very good. Our server was Amy Lu and she was excellent. Did a great job taking care of us. A friend was picking at her and she held her own. She was a lot of fun in addition to the excellent service. Very good restaurant. I recommend it.
Excellent food, drinks & attentive service. We had special happy hour drinks & appetizers. Yea Justin! For dinner the fish tacos were particularly tasty. Wish they were not out of fresh salmon for the holiday weekend. However our other two fresh fish entrees were excellent. We had their creme brulee with fresh berries on top. It was outstanding as usual! The manager Melissa and our server Michael were very helpful. They made our anniversary dinner extra special. This restaurant seems to have turned the corner in a very positive way since being acquired! We will be back again.
We love this restaurant for the delicious food. I had the parmesan crusted flounder. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it. Everyone was very happy with their meals. Our waitress was excellent. If you want privacy for quiet conversation, request a "snug". These are wonderful booths with very high backs, as well as draperies that can be pulled for added quietness and privacy for those more intimate or romantic dinners. It's just one of our favorite spots for a romantic night out or to meet with friends and actually hear the conversation without a struggle. Add to that the fabulous menu and service...A+++
We have been here many times, and food and service is always very good, and even when busy space at the table is comfortable. If their bar operated better for this trip they would have earned a higher rating. Ordered for me and my Manhattan loving friend a marker’s mark Manhattan Straight up. First glass was 1/4” of MM in a glass- a warm glass at that.
I explained to the server with a laugh it was incorrect., and she was Lovely about it.
So returned with what I suppose was a double MM. We were both irritated at missing out on a cold winter night— but Ridiculous someone didn’t look it up when the ‘cocktail’ was sent back....otherwise great evening. But order wine- it’s easier for them to get right (one hopes)
Overall our experience was poor.
Our jumbo shrimp cocktail contained just large
Shrimp so our waiter told us that he would give
Us 6 shrimps-one extra
Mussels were good
Our son’s NY Strip with Fries was loaded with salt.
Steak was placed on top of fries which made them
Soggy-got replacement fried but too heavily salted.
Don’t know what was in the scallops with lobster
Mashed potatoes but my wife and I were sick
Until the next morning . Service was not attentive
For New Years and not one HNY unless we said first.
Do not recommend.
This was our first visit to any McCormick & Schmick's and we decided to go for our New Year's Eve date night. Even on short notice, good reservation times were available. The location was in a shopping mall which made parking free & easy. The interior of the restaurant was very nice with a classic feel but no seating areas for a romantic date night but still a great place for a date. The food was very good. Pretty much on pare for a higher end chain. What stood out the most to us was the level of service. From the time we walked in the door for our reservation until we left, the wait staff front-end management was personable and very attentive. I know we'll be back.
When a manager tries to convince a customer that raw lobster tails are supposed to "look that way because they are cold water," there is a huge problem. The rudeness of shoving the menu in my mother's face not once, but twice to suggest that she order something else was shocking. My lobster was cooked just fine. Food temperature is a huge problem as well- our potatoes were so cold that they were inedible. However, it seemed to be normal as no one asked why they were barely touched. Service by the manager and our server lacked attention to detail. Overpriced food with lack of attention to detail means never returning.
Our experience was good & bad . We had a nice quieter table . Our waiter was good. But we were very disappointed in our meal . We split appetizer , main course & dessert . ( we often split meals)
First our drinks were good ( Kentucky smash & margarita) but the margarita was in a very small glass loaded with ice disappointing for the price . The Kentucky smash was good but also loaded with ice & small glass .
Our appetizer was good , shrimp kisses , 14.00 but just 3 shrimp .
Our main meal was the biggest disappointment . We ordered the swordfish , ( it tasted really good what little taste we had ) we were shocked when it came. We each had about 2-3 small bite size on our plates . I have never seen such a small serving , if we hadn’t split it would have still been a very small serving for $38.00. Just unbelievable . Dessert was good. We did not say anything then, this was a date night & did not want to cause a problem.
All in all a very disappointing experience . We haven’t been to McCormick & Schmicks in a long time .
Not sure we will go back any time soon.
We visited Christmas evening. I understand the staff had been overwhelmed with over three times their regular volume but nevertheless our server (Michael) couldn't have been more pleasant and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed spliting the lobster Cobb salad and the filet and lobster tail entree. Perfect for the two of us. Will definitely return on our next visit to Charlotte.
We made reservations for Christmas Night to celebrate with family. The menu is very versatile and provides variety for various palates. Some party members had a beer before the meal and we requested a bottle of wine with the meal, our server announces to us to remind her as she will probably forget to bring it. Several of us considered this to be somewhat unprofessional. Then as we were placing our meals the waitress explained what would accompany each dish, dishes that were served to us were not as described when we ordered for several meals. For example when ordering the steak dinner she said that asparagus would accompany the meal however there was no asparagus, but a different mixed vegetable.
When our meals arrived we were a little disappointed that all of our meals were cold when they arrived at to the table. It was our first experience at this restaurant and we had a little higher expectations for such an upscale and price restaurant. I'm sad that the experience could not have been more memorable for the special occasion that we chose to attend.
Normally we don’t have problems there but my 1st 8 oz Filet was cold. The 2nd One was not 8oz and not cooked, did not get a 3rd one was there too long. For all the time we were there all they did was just not charge me for food I did not eat. They should have compensated the whole meal and given me a gift card for the amount of the meal for my wasted time and bad experience. Not sure what happened. The server was very nice. The problem was in the kitchen. Also my sons burger was hard as a rock. They replaced it.
Christmas Eve dinner with the family so it was a lively night. Service was very good despite the busy crowd. Nice wine selection. Salads very generous. Steaks was well prepared, flavorful. Stuffed shrimp was also good. Parmesan crusted flounder as well. Only complaint was salmon dish, very small portion put on plate and I had to request for a larger one, but manager took care of it right away. Overall, a nice night enjoyed by all, and a staff that was very attentive to the larger party.
