McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Charlotte (Southpark Mall) Ratings and Reviews
We were there for Valentine's Day for a 6pm reservation, and we were put into the overflow room, thank goodness my wife and I have been married for 30 years, nothing romantic about this room, we were just waiting for the retirement video and talk to begin. M&S should give the diners that sit in this room for a special occasion a free appetizer or desert as compensation for having to sit in this room. Nothing in the entire room but tables, you don't even get the cocktail menu or candle on your table.
Valentine’s Day was a wonderful occasion this year because of the fabulous time we had at McCormick & Schmick’s! The food was divine - I think I could have cut my small filet with my fork. And, the service was impeccable. The ambience was marvelous. and it was quiet enough to actually enjoy conversation with a dinner partner. The management took time to come by our table and check to see if our food came as we requested it. This type of attention and civility are something missing these days in most restaurants. And it will keep us coming back to the Southpark M&S.
The food and service were on point. The staff was appropriately attentive. I asked for a particular type of table when I arrived knowing that they may not be able to accommodate my last minute request. They were able to take care of us and immediately sat us at perfect table.
An all around great experience starting with a convenient location with easy, plentiful parking. Our waiter was knowledgeable and checked back often (but not too often). The blackened swordfish was the best I’ve had, and the sides (mashed potatoes with andouille sausage, and sautéed spinach) were spot on. Highly recommended; we’ll certainly be back.
The waitress was fantastic. My ribeye was ordered medium rare and was served medium+. The waitress and management insisted on preparing a new steak even though I was willing to eat the original steak. Outstanding handling of the situation. The chocolate bag was outstanding as always. I wish it wasn't so good so I could resist it. Everyone in my group truly enjoyed the experience.
It was a split decision! My tuna tartare was very tasty and the fish and chips were as well. My wife's medallions of beef were overcooked after asking for medium rare. So don't order beef at a seafood place or don't put it on the menu if you can't prepare it correctly.
The food was an absolute disappointment. There was no flavor in any of the dishes we ordered. The king crab legs were stringy and bland. The crab cakes tasted like bread. The stuffed shrimp had a "something is off" flavor. The complimentary bread could have easily broken a tooth. The service was excellent and the restroom was attractive and clean but at this price point, the seafood should taste as such.
Overall our dining experience was ok. We had an issue with a steak being overcooked and when we asked to send it back the waitress literally took a knife, stabbed the steak like it was alive and flung it onto another plate, leaving the rest of their meal and just walked away. It was so loud and jarring that not only did our entire table jolt but the tables next to us did also. When the stake was returned it hadn't even been on the grill for 2 minutes. Completely unable to eat it. The waitress would not speak to the couple again after that and only spoke to me. And honestly the couple it happened to were very understanding and not upset. They did remove the steak from the bill and the manager was very nice and apologetic, even walking outside to speak to the couple, but that was not the type of dining experience we were looking for considering the event. I do realize it was restaurant week, but only 2 at our table even ordered off that menu.
FIRST TIME AT THE SOUTHPARK MCCORMICK AND SHMICK.
BARTENDER WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGABLE.
FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND WE NEVER FELT RUSHED, IN FACT OUR WAITRESS TOLD US TO TAKE OUR TIME. WE WERE HAVING DINNER WITH AN OLD FRIEND AND POTENTIAL BUSINESS PARTNER SO WE ENJOYED THE EXTRA TIME. NOT TOO LOUD THAT WE COULDN’T HEAR THE CONVESATION.
ALL TOGETHER IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.
Waitress was awesome, attentive, and kind. The greeter should be placed in the back as with the trash. She had a bad attitude, unfriendly face. I don't know if she was having a bad day, but she should not greet customers with her face and attitude she had on Saturday around 1:30pm. She had no smile at all. The waitress made up for the horrible experience with the greeter.
Our visit to this restaurant was not good. To start, our waiter seem to have a bad attitude. Not sure what his problem was but he wasn’t very attentive to our needs which were not much. after some wait we were able to order our drinks. My wife and friend ordered the wine special while I ordered a basic glass of wine. After 10 minutes or so he comes by and says it’s still not “on the bar” so we continued to wait. After 15 minutes he brings my glass and states that they were out of the special wine my wife had ordered. Asked them what else they would like and brought it after what seemed like another 10 minutes. Offered to send the manager over but I wasn’t sure what good that would do. She couldn’t make wine out of water. Finally placed our food order, which came before my wife received her wine. Manager came by and asked if she could help with anything. She couldn’t have been nicer. Wife’s dinner was the beef medalians which were tough and not very good. Needless to say our first and most likely last visit to this restaurant wasn’t good. HOPEFULLY HE WAS JUST HAVING A BAD NIGHT BUT HE SURE RUINED OUR NIGHT OUT.
We enjoyed the ability to speak with each other around a large round table since the restaurant was not very busy (surprising since it was Restaurant Week). The food was very disappointing, I had the salmon and it was quite fishy and lacking in flavor. Our bill was over $300 for 7 people and the food (the the exception of the calamari) was not good.
