McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Bellevue Ratings and Reviews
This dinner was on Christmas Eve, one of the busiest days of the year. I've always loved the restaurant but the portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller. The medium steak was closer to well done, and the portion definitely smaller. I'd almost swear they are sourcing their beef elsewhere than from other years. I say this after visiting two McCormack's in the last three months. My husband had the salmon which he said was excellent.
Our table was not ready as per our reservation. This restaurant was extremely under staffed. Considering this had to be one of their busiest nights of the year, it was clear they did not have near enough staff to provide an appreciable level of service. That coupled with that two of the meals we ordered were completely over-cooked and not edible, it was a poor outing for McCormick's. Dining with your family on Christmas Eve is suppose to me memorable, and this time it was for all the wrong reasons. It was a very unsavory experience!
We had good food but terrible service. The waiter seemed extremely annoyed and irritated at everything. He seemed like he didn't want to be there, he made several mistakes on our orders and then was very frustrated that we asked for separate checks. He then put the wrong meals with the wrong drinks on our checks and acted like it was our fault. He was not customer focused at all. We tried to give him some slack at first since they were busy but it almost got worse when he had less customers. It really dampened our experience of a nice girls night out for the holidays. It is too bad as we have eaten at several McCormick and Schmick's in the past and have had a good experience. Really unfortunate.
I have to give this restaurant a rather poor rating. First of all, we made reservations but still had to wait a good 15 minutes for our table. When making the reservation, I requested a high chair and once we got to our table we had to wait another 4-5 minutes for someone to bring the high chair. The service was aweful, our waiter was slow, hardly ever checked on us, we were with empty drinks wanting fresh ones for a good 15 minutes while our server was in and out of the dining room never noticing we were in need. One of our dishes was excellent, the other one was over cooked and lacked good flavor. The portion was so small, we left hungry after cleaning our plates and our fish came with only rice and no vegetable. I was very disappointed
Okay, I know this is a seafood restaurant so that will be their specialty, but to me if you have a steak on your menu and it cost $30 plus dollars it should be a better then average steak. I have had better steaks at the Outback, and at least there if I ask for my steak to be cooked at medium I can be pretty sure that it will. However, that was not the case at McCormick & Schmick's. I will say that the shrimp and the dessert were both topnotch. Although, this was far from the worst restaurant I have eaten at, I still do not see myself going back there any time soon. There are many other places to eat at in downtown Bellevue, so why should I eat at a place that cannot get my order right the first time.
We had a lovely time. Our waiter, Chris, was very good. He gave us the space we wanted and we didn't feel rushed to make decisions. I had the mussels in the Thai curry sauce and it was agreed at the table that I had the winning dinner. Thank you too for the booth, it helped my friend with hearing problems. We will definitely come again,
It was definitely a bit noisy, but I will say that's because every table was full for a Saturday night @ 7pm dinner reservation. Service was good, although the waitress was a tad slow bringing a couple of non-essential asks. Overall, friendly staff and the food was good. Be prepared for $20-$35 per plate, but you can get movie tickets for the upstairs movie theater for only $5 extra. We had trouble finding parking, but ended up parking across the street at Bellevue Square and then did some shopping afterwards, so it all worked out.
My wife and I have eaten there many times. This was by far the worst experience at your restaurant. The noise was so loud that we could not hear the waiter - we had to yell at him and he had to yell at us. We had asked for a booth by the window on Bellevue Way, but when we got there at 7:07 PM, I gave him our names and told him that we were a little early. The man at the front desk said "O.K., we'll see you back here at 7:15 (our reservation time). That was rude - I didn't see any reason to have to "check in" with him again, but I am glad I did, because he had completely forgotten about us. He said that we would have a short wait for a booth - I said that it was O.K., that we would wait - guess you don't want my story-ran out of lette
I was a lone diner and the restaurant put me in a booth so I wouldn't feel 'on show' which I appreciated. The staff are always excellent at McCormick & Schmick's and my server was no exception. I have eaten here many times and always enjoy the food. The sides are really for two people but I was offered a half-side so I didn't feel overwhelmed. Portions are perfectly sized with no waste - I can't stand the 'box of left-overs' approach in many restaurants which overface you. I will definitely be coming back on my next visit.
Nice selection of seafood dishes. My King Salmon had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite place - would not order it again. Food for our table of four was good, but not great. Service was a bit lacking - too efficient and impersonal. When I last ate at this restaurant about 18 months ago both food and service were fantastic. Hit or miss I guess.
Love being greeted with smiles and treated like a million your entire visit? Go to McCormick and Schmicks for lunch. Not too full, not too loud. The chef knows how to make a Crab Louis--one of the best I've tasted--crispy lettuce, just the right amount of dressing and lots of crab. The Tilapia and Rockfish were also outstanding. Now on to dessert--apple pie, cheesecake, chocolate bread pudding--all wonderful, but big raves go to the key lime pie, nicely tart and lots of it!
My wife & I decided on an anniversary lunch for our 12th. I made reservations on line and we came at just the right time. We had friendly service. The maitre d brought us a complementary appetizer. The food was great and we had a very nice booth to ourselves in a quiet area.
Our first visit there and since we went for Thanksgiving we had the turkey dinner. The kitchen ran out of the soup, cornbread dressing, and pumpkin pie by the time we came at 8pm which was somewhat disappointing. Substitutions were good and servings about right--filling but not over the top. We will probably go back to try some of the other menu items since the seafood dishes sound very good. A little cold by the window seating.
We were both disappointed with the turkey dinner at Thanksgiving, the turkey was not cooked from a whole bird only thin slices of white meat like sandwich meat, the rest of the food that goes with the dinner is also not very good, we would not go back next thanksgiving.
We were disappointed in the level of service that was provided to us. Our waitress was very forgetful and didn't bring things to our table that was requested such as water, salads and bread. One of the members of my party didn't even get her food until the entire table was done eating. Our server never asked us how our food was and never came to check in on us. We got a mediocre apology for the service. For an establishment as nice and expensive as this one, I would have expected much higher quality in service.
I've been here a few times more due to location and price than food quality and service. This time went for the Thanksgiving dinner. It was very busy. Our waiter was extremely slow, food was missing from my plate, and it was near impossible to order drinks due to seeing our waiter so infrequently. Out of all of my experiences, I have not had that great of service but the food is typically average to good. This time I would say average; I thought that my turkey tasted like TV dinner turkey. Sweet potato casserole was excellent though (for an extra $6).
This was our second Thanksgiving dinner in a row at the MCS Bellevue and we will be happy to come back next year. Taku River king salmon grilled with apple cider reduction was absolutely excellent and memorable. Grilled halibut was overdone in part and otherwise OK (I should have taken salmon!). The ambiance was festive but we could still hear each other and carry a conversation.
I was dissapointed and I am sorry I have to write that. The sushi..I should have known better I guess to order, but it was not eatable. My husband had the Halibut and the portion was pretty small. The wait for the food was forever but it was Thanksgiving so i realize it was crowded. I think of quality when I think McCormick & Schmicks but this didn't register at all this time. it was $70+ for us and again unfortunately it was pretty bad.
This is a place where good food prepared very well is the general rule. Good service is also a very strong attribute - with accasional exception. Seating has been usually very acceptable with the STRONG EXCEPTION of last time we attended - on Thanksgiving. Three of us were seated in a booth in a VERY HIGH TRAFFIC area - which detracted from the experience. This is the first time this has happened and we would like to avoid this in the future.
Good thing we had a reservation - It was very crowded and kind of noisy but still enjoyable. The Thanksgiving dinner was actually really good and we took home some leftovers. We had a great waitress and the rest of the staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially considering how busy it was. Overall a very positive experience. I never realized how many people eat out on Thanksgiving Day!
