Great salmon and scallops entrees. The waitress was very attentive without being intrusive. Love the waterfront area. We sat in the bar which is always a good spot by the window. Unfortunately we were not happy when after dinner we went in front of the building to get our valet parked car and hundreds of dirt bikers (illegally) were carousing around the circle in the street and causing all kinds of disruption. I don't know why the Baltimore City police can't manage to stop this dangerous activity. Even our valet person said she was scared and wanted to go home. It's sad that this beautiful part of the city is marred by this kind of activity.
We dined at McCormick & Schmick’s for a dual celebration of a milestone birthday and wedding anniversary. The atmosphere is certainly beautiful and the noise level low to be conducive for pleasant conversation. The cocktails we had were fantastic and the bartender was complimented. While I understand this is a seafood restaurant located in the water, I feel the menu could be a little more friendly to those without a taste for seafood or an allergy. The setting is so lovely, consideration should be given that seafood lovers may be accompanied by non seafood consumers.
The dinners we had were nice enough, but not life changing and service could have been a bit more timely considering it was a weeknight when I visited. Overall it was a nice experience but not the outstanding one I was expecting.
Disappointed! When the hostess went to seat us at a table with no view we asked her to place us at one of several open tables near the water. She said she guessed she could do that but we would have to wait awhile to be served because it wasn’t that waiters turn yet.
Servers forgot a plate for appetizers. They brought three for the four of us, didn’t bring a steak knife for one of two who ordered a steak then took so long bringing the second that we had to share. We ordered asparagus as a side and potatoes. The asparagus never came and the potatoes were finally at our table after our dinner plates were cleared. The restaurant didn’t charge for the missed sides but felt ‘we needed to try them even though they didn’t come with our dinner.’
Appetizers were fine and one of four enjoyed her entree. However steaks were tough and did not even cut like the filets we had ordered.
This was our first time here in ages and the first time for our friends. The two couples dine out often and expected a much better experience.
Nice selection, fish cooked perfectly, nice wine options.
It’s always great to visit a favorite in the Baltimore Harbor. Great drinks!!
The food and service were both outstanding, but the music was too loud and detracted from the atmosphere.
Definitely a must visit place if you are in the Baltimore inner harbor area. A little on the pricey side, however the seafood is worth the price. Best crab cakes I have ever tasted
Our waiter was slow and blamed her poor service on a “crisis inside” (we sat outside) which made us feel a little unimportant for not being needy guests. It sort of ruined what was a pretty good meal. The restaurant was not busy at all and we both felt the crisis was probably personal. Not sure if we will go back or not.
My boyfriend and I went to McCormicks to celebrate his work accomplishment. I made a special request to sit by the window and to have a cheesecake come at the end of the night saying “Congratulations Rashaad”. We had an amazing experience from beginning to end.
I made the reservation for 9:00pm on Friday. When we arrived, we were seated promptly and by the window. Our waiter (Ryan) immediately greeted us and made us feel welcome. He was by far one of the best waiters we’ve encountered. He kept my wine glass full, he answered all of our questions, and even engaged in conversation with us.
I ordered the blackened chicken fettuccini. My boyfriend ordered the 13oz New York strip cooked medium. Our dishes were amazing. His steak was cooked perfectly. The asparagus was steamed perfectly, and his mushrooms were sautéed perfectly. My dish was also very delicious.
I must admit I was a little nervous about eating here after reading some of the reviews, but I’m very happy I went. We had a great time and we will definitely be coming back again!!
(On OpenTable it says we went to McCormicks in DC which is false. We went in Baltimore.)
Birthday dinner. Had a great time.
Wonderful experience. Our waitress was great. She was very organized, given that she was serving such a large group.
Great seafood at reasonable prices. The Salmon was outstanding!!
Great location, and good menu. Food was cold, perhaps the waiter's fault.
The food was fine, but took a long time to come out. Also, service was slow. Since there was a weeding at Pier 5 they couldn't validate our parking ticket which I can't understand.
We were there Aug 25, 2018, We sat outside. We told the waitress we were going to a Baseball game & would like to order right away. We received our drinks after 20 min, mine was wrong & my husbands was very week. We asked for her to bring us a shot of Jack Daniels & a shot of Whiskey, after another 20 min she brought us Gin and something else we couldn't identify. She insisted the Gin was my Whiskey, it was obviously clear and told me thats what i ordered. We never received our appetizers. We were there for about 45 min. The waitress was gossiping to us & anyone else who would listen to her about the wait staff and the fact that they couldn't find the Chef, the kitchen help was cooking and how she was almost in a fight with another waitress. We finally got up and walked out as it seemed she really didn't want to serve us as she was too busy talking to each table on her way back to the bar or kitchen. The couple sitting behind us told us they were there for over an hour & still didn't receive their meal. Very poor service (if you could even get any) and very unprofessional waitstaff. Never got to try the food or even the appetizer which was ordered & never brought. People were sitting down after us & were being waited on in a proper timing.
The food was sub par and the service slow. My crab was days old and hard, for being an "upscale" restaurant I expect better. I ended up eating a better meal at the ballpark.
Great views, good was delicious, everything was wonderful.
Food was Luke warm .Noise level was high
The menu has a very good seafood selection, sits in a great location within Baltimore's Inner Harbor, and has great ambiance. However, I strongly suspect the restaurant is understaffed and therefore I do not recommend dining at this restaurant if it appears to be a busy night. My wife, daughter, and I had reservations prior to a concert at the MECU Pavilion. We were quickly seated and our orders were taken in a timely manner. After waiting well over one hour for our main course, we cancelled our order, paid for the raw oyster appetizers we had received, and departed. Also, during our 90 minutes in the restaurant, the waitress never refilled our drinks. I assumed her oversight was likely a direct result of the restaurant being understaffed for the number of patrons present that evening. On a positive note, we have previously enjoyed lunch on the weekends at this restaurant and will likely give them another chance sometime in the future.
The Ultimate Trio was out of sight!! Great food, seafood was fantastic! The Scallop appetizer was unforgetable!!
Great food and service
6oz filet was more like a 4oz . Very expensive for the amount of food. Never received bread for table. Will it choose to go there again.
This Restaurant used to be very good, this time was bad, the food average , noisy and the staff not nice at all . I ask water view and I cannot see anything. I will not came back
We had a disappointing visit. Food was average at best. The fish I ordered looked like it came out of bag and was warmed. Root vegetables were awful. Best part was the apple pie dessert. For such a great location I would expect this restaurant to be on its game.
Overall everything is wonderful and we love Spencer’s. He’s an amazing waiter.
I had reservations for 2 on Sunday as date night plans. We arrived and were promptly seated, which is great.
However, once seated, we were never addressed, welcomed, or even acknowledged. The server visited the three other occupied tables in the whole section and walked past our table numerous times. After thirty minutes, we decided we would get up and leave, as we STILL were waiting to just have our glasses filled with water.
The waterfront view is gorgeous at this location. I've dined at several M&S locations but this view is one of my favorites. Unfortunately, that's where all the praises end. I celebrated my birthday dinner and the food left much to be desired. My hope is that it was due to the late dining experience (10:30pm) and the restaurant was closing within the hour as to why our meals were so terrible. My first red flag should've been when the wait staff stood across from us and loudly argued about who's turn it was to serve. That lasted for about 10-15mins before a gentleman came and introduced himself. I guess he lost the argument. We waited another 15 mins for our drinks, which normally wouldn't be a problem but we were the only diners in the restaurant. Not exactly sure why the hold up. For fear, it would be a half hour before he returned we put in our full order at one time. By the time the appetizers came out we had been seated for about 45-50 mins. In that time there had been no sight of the waiter. Finally, after a little over an hour into our dining experience the chef personally brought our meal. While I appreciate that special touch, it did nothing for the food. We both ordered the ultimate mixed grill and the crab cake was the best thing on the plate with the stuffed shrimp right behind. The potatoes were cold, not room temperature, cold. The salmon and the grilled shrimp were seriously overcooked. I would've loved to share that with the waiter had I been able to find him. He eventually came around when it was time to for the check. I love the M&S brand and plan to continue dining at their restaurants. I want to believe this was just a one off and not the norm for this establishment though I have no plans to return to this location.
Very disappointed in the service at this restaurant. We informed our server that we had tickets to pier 6 for a show and we were 45 minutes late. Our kids dinner finally showed up as we were getting our check. All around disaster. Our sever was slow, confused and in way over her head. Super disappointing to pay top dollar for a mediocre meal with mediocre at best wait staff.
I wanted to like my food. The crab dip was excellent. Unfortunately, I believe my food was sitting under a heat lamp. The outside of my lobster was browned as if it was in an oven or like I said under a heat lamp. It was extremely chewy. Lobster does not need to be cooked very long, and this was definitely overcooked. For a 35 dollar meal, I expected much more.
Good, but not great. Server was not knowledgeable about the food or wine. A bit dirty. This has been a favorite of mine for 25 years. Now, not so much.
Ambiance, waitstaff, air conditioning, quality of food -- all great. Portions, on the other hand, were about half of the size they should have been. Disappointing experience and we left hungry. :(
I went to several restaurants during restaurant week and was blown away by the previous 3 that we had visited. Mccormick and Schmicks was dubbed the "highlight" of them all. We were extremely underwhelmed by the items on the restaurant week menu, it tasted like the food was just thrown together (I understand why the portions were the size they were). I don't believe this location took the week seriously.
Food was okay, but not great. Even after I insisted my wife’s plate was to have nothing green on it, they included a soppy vegetable medley, the juice of which had soaked into her steak. My fish was good, but not great. Ambience was okay, although the recommended dress code (smart casual) was in no way enforced: lots of inner harbor tourists in shorts and flip-flops, so we we’re way overdressed. Another been-there, done-that restaurant we can mark off our go-back-to list.
Seafood dinners were delicious. Kids menu had a nice variety. Atmosphere and view of harbor were excellent. Definitely hope to return again!
We were staying at Pier 5 Hotel and checking out at 1 p.m. so made a reservation for lunch. Everything was great!
While the restaurant provided great ambiance, the food was marginal and drinks were poor. It's a great spot for a date or group celebration. The view was awesome. People in my party weren't awe-struck by the cuisine nor drinks.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there before and it was a GREAT experience. The service was excellent and the food was VERY good.
This experience was a let down. Our server did an exceptional job. But the food missed the mark. It was like it was just a bad day in the kitchen. My wife was so disappointed that she doesn’t want to return to the restaurant and she was the one who recommend we go because of our last experience.
I wanted to love it but it wasn’t great. Service was slow. We arrived well before most tables near us and had to ask the manager to speed things up to get appetizers that were ordered. One app, seared tuna was not good. The fish was overlooked and not fresh tasting. A dish that chain restaurants get right was a disappointment. Entrees were very good, but the desert, a small Creme brûlée (another easy dish) was very runny. This place is all location. A great site on the water.
Vacationing with my sister! The service was absolutely terrible! Took very long to get drinks! Had to ask for silverware, bread and refills on drinks! Took very long to get food! Sat outside, as it was a beautiful evening, as it started getting dark outside, we could see nothing! No candle on most tables and nothing lit up where we were seated, some tables had lighting by the trees with lights on them and some had a standing decorative fixture that stood by tables. However, they were just randomly placed. My meal was not the best, ordered Shrimp Scampi, too much of the butter and garlic sauce! It was like soup! Waitress barely came to check on us so I ate what I could!! Very disappointed!!!
We sat outside and the patio area was very nice, however our server was not very attentive. I ordered crab cakes and my daughter got the filet. The crab cakes were yummy but the steak was over cooked. We waited for our server to return, so after about 5 minutes we decided to eat our meals. Most fine restaurants ask you to check your steak when served. This server just dropped our meals and left. Not what I expected from a fine dining restaurant.
