We were a group of eight persons and we have been very disappointed, we have made a reservation for 10 pm and the restaurant accepted it, but at the time of our arrival the staff have told us that the kitchen was closed at 10 pm, they didn't have anything that we have asked and we were served in a hurry, maybe they wanted to leave early
Our waiter clearly didn’t want to be at the resteraunt on New Years Eve. We had an 8:45 reservation , and they closed at 10. The tables and kitchen were backed up, and we didn’t get our food till 10:05 . Valet closed at 10, so my fiancé went outside to get the keys, and got locked out. No staff was at the front to let him and several other people who had gone to get their car keys back in, so they had to wait for 5 minutes before someone from the bar finally came over. It was snowing and cold at this point. When he got back, and we had our plates, we felt rushed out. Staff was vacuuming and cleaning the floor around us as each table left, and it killed the nice atmosphere. I also didn’t get the potatoes that came with my surf and turf platter. At first the waiter apologized and said he forgot to put the order in, and if the kitchen could get it done before it was time for us to leave they would. When our check came, he told me they had run out of potatoes. It just wasn’t the kind of service and attitude we expected for spending $200 somewhere.
We enjoyed our NYE experience- Food was excellent and waitress was very good.
Very fine balanced menu with well-prepared seafood
Well meaning service, but management hinders quality of service, by not providing enough help to the primary waiter. Result of service was slow with parts of meal not being hot enough.
Waited over 30 minutes from our reservation time to be seated. Hostess was not apologetic and frazzled. Drinks we ordered never made it to our table. Leaf of the table kept falling in to my lap. When I asked Asst mgr for help he was snarky. Stuffed shrimp was cold. Instead of apologizing for the poor experience at the restaurant, the Asst manager said that they were not used to those kinds of crowds. We thought that since it was New Year's Eve they would have known what to expect and been prepared. Not impressed at all.
Would love to review it but sadly we got an email from them yesterday saying the location has closed.
I would not recommend this restaurant. My boyfriend and I came to Austin from Dallas for New Year's eve. We made reservations and when we get there, there were no tables available. Then we sit to wait on a table and the hostess forgot we were sitting there and seated many people who came after us. Then a table finally came open and we were seated near the door. it was 20 degrees outside. Being seated by the door was very uncomfortable because it was so cold. So my boyfriend and I just left.
The food was fantastic; however, the customer service was subpar. Our waitress was horrible and her skills lacking
This restaurant was fantastic!! The staff was knowledgeable and professional, the waitress was prompt and compassionate to our needs.
The food was as advertised, I’ll definitely be coming back!!
Brad, our server, was incredible! If you go ask for him. Food (entree and dessert) was wonderful!
We were impressed with our waiter Pedro. He knew the menu items and made some excellent suggestions. He gave us time to enjoy each course and was attentive. I will definitely be back.
This restaurant is a favorite of ours. The pasta dishes with seafood are really good as are the steaks. The atmosphere is very nice and beautiful. Love to visit. Staff is always very nice.
Food was under cooked and waiter was slow taking my order I was very disappointed over all of the service
I was most disappointed in our meal last night. Granted, it was Christmas day and the waiter explained that our champagne was delayed because there was only one bartender working. Seems to me however, that a veteran restauranteur would anticipate their customer count and staff for this. And, whereas we both ordered entrees, mine was forgotten - fortunately it turns out, as the sizes of the entrees (and most everything else on the menu) are absurdly large. Seems that M&S are part of the over 40% of food that American's throw away each year. Finally, iour waiter called me either boss or buddy, neither of which are my name. Needless to say, I will not be returning.
Terrible, horrible service, food was very fair, they screwed up two of our orders. Very Bad
We went for Christmas Dinner at the Domain location in Austin at 415 pm. I used to go to the one in Manhattan Beach, California. Superb! Love this franchise. Organized, efficient, lovely. The tall, silver haired gentleman in a suit, who I believe is the general manager here, was on his game. I saw him check every table for proper service and he asked for customer opinions on their dining experience. Old school charm and concern combined with upscale ambiance and great cuisine. Thank you, staff and GM!!
Christmas dinner perfect for my 94 year old mother. Thank you for being so thoughtful.
Reservation was for 2:45 Christmas day. Got to the table at 3:15. Several menu items were not available. They were sold out. Service was ok. Not exceptional. Food took long to get. The place was packed. Got a call from them on the 23rd to make sure we were still coming at 2:45. We did our part by being there at 2:45. They didn't do their part by not getting us seated until 3:15.
We had a reservation for Christmas dinner...but ended up eating at the bar. The bar staff were great. We would definitely be back...and probably eat at the bar again.
Delicious meal, it was expectedly packed but they were professional and courteous
It's a great place to celebrate a holiday with your family
Christmas Day service was horrendous. There's a huge difference between "open for business on Christmas" and "ready for business on Christmas."
They were open, that's for sure. But they weren't ready.
Great restaurant, we always dine there, when we're in Austin.
We really enjoyed the experience. It was our son's 9th birthday. They forgot our daughter's order, but we were glad we order more to share.
great food, great service, thoroughly enjoyed our meal
Mc ormack and Schmidt is great place for grilled seafood and I have been coming here for years.
Waiter Anthony was not very attentive.
We relied on others including the head guy to bring us steak knife, dessert spoons, more water, etc.
I would avoid waiter Anthony if you truly want service while you're in the restaurant.
Service not up to restaurant standards
Service a bit slow. Had to ask for refills from person bringing food instead of asking waiter.
Overall very pleasant evening.
For me, this is one of Austin's finer places to eat and an excellent place to take friends for an evening out. The staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. The presentation of the food is a work of art, well worth the cost.
First time, Christmas eve dinner with aging parents and it was wonderful. Great food and service. My family will be back soon.
Good selecton and good service. Management was very nice.
Great food and service
Food and service was fantastic. Everyone had a great time. Can’t wait to come back.
Great customer service but the food was not great at all. It was dead in there... I understand why.
Dined with friends and we were met by friendly staff who promptly seated us in one of the private dining areas. Very quiet atmosphere allowed for easy conversation at normal voice levels. After choosing various wine selections, we chose for entrees the seafood trio (grilled and stuffed shrimp and grilled salmon), grilled redfish, beef medallions , and parmesan crusted flounder. All were well-presented and generous portions. Also started with wedge salad and caesar salad which were easily shared. Finished meal with delicious cheesecake and chocolate silk pie which were also delicious. Service by Jamie was superb and never left us waiting for any refills or other requests. Excellent visit.
I reserved for a birthday celebration. There was confusion at the hostess stand, and that was uncomfortable. I wish there were good sides included in the price of the dishes.
We appreciate the restaurant very much, always a A-1 experience
M&S can be really good, and really lousy. Tonight was the latter. Don't bother putting requests on your OpenTable reservation, though, because as far as I can tell they have never read what I asked.
We must have had a new waiter because the pace of the meal was a mess... salads ordered well after drinks but delivered before, request for wine placed before the main course but the wine arrives when the meal has already been consumed. My scallops looked nice and tasted good, but they were almost cold when delivered.
I am a Landry's Select member and seldom choose to go to M&S... the prices are for a top-tier meal, but the execution is no where near that league. I think it's time for a new team of managers to step in and turn it around.
Scott really helped us out and Pedro is a great server.
overall the food was good but just do not go early, not only can you not valet park in front of the restaurant, the service is not good. we over 15 minutes after we sat at our table to even get water, which set the mood for the entire meal... not good. you expect great service for the prices one is paying, so at the end of the meal, while i was walking in the rain to get to my valet parked car in front of Flemmings, i really felt it was a waste of money and should have just eaten at home to celebrate.
