McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Atlanta (CNN Center) Ratings and Reviews
I️ dine at a lot of nicer restaurants and this one is lacking behind them all. This is 100% not the place to get a steak. The 13oz dry rub ribeye tasted like something I️ would cook at home and bought at Walmart. The seafood was more on par for the price, but still behind the competition. Ultimately the food is good here, but it is not near good enough to warrant the price.
Even though we made a reservation, they seated us in an extended part of the restaurant. We did not even receive cloth napkins. The service was terrible. It took 25 minutes to receive our first drink. We never received bread. When we asked for napkins, we were brought paper cocktail napkins. It was McDonald’s service at a champagne price. I will not be returning.
Server was very polite, but we were placed in an area off of the main dining room with 3 other couples. At times it seemed that we were forgotten but server was very courteous and attempting to take care of us all.
Server brought out candles to everyone’s table half way thru dinner. We had to share a menu back and forth between another table.
Food was good but not great.
It was convenient for our event at Philips Arena but not worth the cost for the service and quality received.
There are not many positives I can give M&S other than its location to the Philips Center. If I was teaching 10th grade cooking class I would give an “F” to the kitchen and Front desk, and a “C+” to the server.
•I really liked the crab cake appetizer, full of meat and not a lot of filler
•Server was a nice guy
•Front desk / Seating – Arrived for our 600 reservation for four, escorted to a round table that would seat 5-6, too big for conversation, no thanks; taken to a side room with 20 empty tables, only two taken, no heat, not acceptable; I went to the front desk and told them we were going to sit at “that table” and instructed her to figure out how to place into her seating map on the computer. Really bad job by all involved.
•Service – Slow. The server also brings the food to all of his tables and disappears into the kitchen for extended periods of time. Drink orders took forever, and we waited 20 minutes for dessert. Told him to cancel as he was bringing it, ate it quickly.
•Coconut shrimp –some were mealy and soft, almost felt like they were close to bad.
•Tuna tartare- What can I say. They threw a bowl of diced tuna into a bowl with a few Asian soup spoons full of accompaniments. I felt like they gave me the tuna tartare mis en place and forgot to assemble the dish. The tuna was tasteless.
•Salmon on cedar plank – The first was beyond well done, the second was cooked on outside and raw on inside
•Asparagus side – They did not even trim the bottoms of the asparagus before cooking.
Overall, M&S is a Cheesecake Factory equivalent. Would not recommend and no need to return.
Although we had reservations made, we still had to wait for a table which defeated the purpose of making a reservation during the lunch hour when one is on a time restraint. In the future, I recommend working on correcting this deficiency to accommodate more customers when they are on a limited time schedule.
Enjoyed a nice relaxing dinner here. Had tried to get in earlier in the week, and no reservation was available. On Tuesday night, a bit later, there was no wait and we were seated right away.
Server was helpful & polite, but not remarkable. Food was great, but a bit expensive for ATL. Drink was just as ordered and a good choice. noise level was nice--bc the place was relatively empty we didn't have to shout over a crowd so could have a nice conversation & enjoy one another's company.
Exceptionally great evening! Thanks to Destiny, front desk, and Candace, server, Gordon, asst mgr, & the kitchen staff for a wonderful window table and fabulous service & food. I had the organic salmon and my companion had stuffed shrimp. We shared the creamed spinach. We had a blast and will return. Thanks!! Xoxo
Service was great and the food was a B+ to A-. The room was very loud and it was difficult to hear conversation at our table if 4. Part of it was the proximity of the full bar. I'd also prefer more lighting but I'm 58 years old and enjoy good lighting. I thought the room was dimly lit. Plan in $25-40 per plate for the entrees. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 to 4 stars overall.
I was dissatisfied with the service at this restaurant, maybe because I expected better service from a restaurant of this caliber. The Hostess was very short and unfriendly, the waitress gave us the wrong food, twice. And when I told the manager of my concerns, she seemed uninterested. We felt we were treated as such because we were military veterans and our meals were free on that day. Nevertheless, I think the service should be the same for us also.
Yours truly, US ARMY WAR VETERAN SPC DOUGLAS BUTLER
Appreciate that McCormick and Schmick's honors Veterans with a meal. Polite and attentive server. Clean and relaxed atmosphere. Had chicken parmesan with pasta. The chicken was dry even with the lemon caper sauce, but pasta was good. Will return as full paying customer.
The wait staff seemed more interested in jabbering with their friends than taking care of the few customers in the dining area. They were all congregated around the kitchen area and were so loud you could hear them throughout the restaurant. I will say the bar area seemed more vibrant when I got there, but by the time I left I had no interest in going in for a nightcap so I went somewhere else.
We had a fabulous experience at McCormicks CNN. Our drinks were strong (just the way we like it), the food was great (the chef even came out to give us his regards), and the service was impeccable. Thanks so much for everything, and we will be back again soon!
Excited to visit McCormicks in Atlanta for the first time. I have to say we won’t be going back. The oyster bar oysters were excellent, albeit eaten with a regular fork. The lobster bisque was beyond dissapointing, tasted like it came from a can or frozen bulk packet. The huge soggy croutons overwhelmed the minimal taste of lobster.
My wife and I both had steak and lobster. The lobster was perfect, unfortunately both steak medallions were not. Mine (medium rare) was chewy, hers (medium well) was a boot sole.
The menu looks delicious but unfortunately our choices, with a couple of exceptions, failed to deliver and were not worth the fine dining prices. I’ll assume it was a bad night as we got great recommendations from a number of people we spoke to before booking.
Our server Mark was very pleasant. We started with calamari and oysters, but I thought something smelled off when the apps were brought out. I picked up the last oyster and then noticed a horrible sewer smell. It was awful, I couldn’t even eat it and I love oysters but something was wrong here. The rest of the meal was just ok, we split a filet with a lobster tail. I’ve definitely had better. Not worth $175.
Don't order the filet mignon. My companions had seafood however I opted for the 8 ounce center cut filet. I have never seen a filet that was 3/4" thick and had an overdose of salt too. While the location does help drive the prices, this steak was fit for Outback, maybe.
It took 15 minutes to get a cocktail and our table ordered a bottle of wine and had it in 3 minutes. When our waiter came to our table i had to order another. Thats so i would have someting to drink when we got our dinner. Waiter was great the bar severive was terrible....
