McCormick & Schmick's Seafood - Atlanta (CNN Center) Ratings and Reviews
Worst dining experience that I have ever experienced. I waited 45 min after being seated for my appetizer to arrive. Once my entree was brought to the table, it was ice cold. There were several tables who were also waiting for an extended period of time for their meals. I requested to see the manager but apparently she was too busy to speak to me. I waited to speak with her for more than 15 min to share my experience and she never came over to speak with me. Awful service, terrible food!
The bar and bar tenders were wonderful and it was a pleasure waiting in the bar. Once seated, the server was inattentive, very long delay between soup and main entree with no visits from the server in between. When the main entree was served it was stone cold! Server did not come back for at least ten minutes to see if our food was ok. I ate my steak, the stuffed shrimp and broccoli were stone cold. I sent the shrimp back and it was returned to me scalding hot tasting like it had been put in a microwave or other heating device. Needless to say the shrimp was now over cooked. We used to love dining at McCormick and Schmick’s but needless to say we will not be returning to this location.
We arrived 15 min late for our reservation so got there at 10pm instead of 9:45pm (we did not account for an event getting out at the CNN center and the additional traffic - sorry McCormick's). The crew was still friendly but couldn't seem to decide where to seat us.
Being a steak & seafood restaurant, I ordered the filet minion & 2 lobster tails. I requested medium rare with NO pepper; also the broccoli come extra well done with NO pepper. My husband ordered the 'andouille/shrimp mac and cheese'. We had to request bread (I've never been to a high-end restaurant where no bread was brought as an aperitif - is this normal for McCormick's?!?). Our meal was brought out and I could tell simply by looking at my steak that a) it was over-cooked and b) coated in pepper. Not just a little but COATED. I cut into the steak and yes, medium well & peppered to the max. I also didn't have any broccoli; the server explained she was having the kitchen cook it more.
Maybe if I hadn't been paying $55 for this meal I wouldn't have been disappointed to not only have part of my dinner delayed but to also have my steak at a steak restaurant totally wrong. The server graciously took the steak back to get me another as my husband dug in to his 'mac and cheese' (more like a traditional penne with white sauce). So I ate my lobster tails which were cooked rather well (still a bit overdone). And then waited. And waited. And waited some more. My husband finished his meal and still we waited . . . .the manager finally came over and said they were still working on my steak (did they have to go find the cow?!?). Steak & broccoli came after an inordinate amount of time. Both were much better but I can't fathom how it took so long.
The dessert of white chocolate bread pudding (comped for our wait, thank you for that bit of redemption McCormick's!) was very good and I'd definitely recommend the dessert. I wouldn't, however, recommend anything else or the restaurant.
This was a birthday celebration & we decided to eat here because we enjoyed the Landrys franchise in Vegas. We didn't realize that we were entitled to a birthday coupon since we have the Landrys reward card. Anyway this was icing on the cake! We ordered the ribeye ($46!) and trout. I was disappointed that the meal didn't come with a side and salad but our server was willing to substitute our side for anything which was extremely nice. Anyway the dinner was tasty and my boyfriend enjoyed his steak so I have no complaints except that the parking was a little difficult to find in downtown Atlanta. We ended up calling the restaurant 2X for directions to the parking lot (sounds stupid right!) but there are 2 parking lots across from the restaurant. Be sure to park in the correct parking lot and have your parking pass validated (saves $20!). The staff were EXCEPTIONAL and very helpful. I stress that because while we were dining another guest fell and they rushed over to assist her. The manager came out twice to ask us about the meal and service then they topped it off with a nice serving of cake, ice cream and candles to blow out for the birthday boy. I would recommend this restaurant. Though it was pricey, the service and food make up for it!
My husband and I came for Valentine’s Day. We arrived at 8:30 for a 8:45 reservation. I advised the host of our reservation and she stated as soon as we our time came we would be seated. Well, we were not seated until 9:00 pm. As others arrived with the same reservation time they were immediately seated. It was only after I went back to the hostess and told her we had reservations that we were seated. We ended up at a small table with me having difficulty getting in and sitting down. The waiter was great. The food was awesome. It was expected to be loud as many people were celebrating Valentines Day. But the hostess staff needs to do better.
I haven't been to this place in years. I never thought that the prices justified the food. Sure it's seafood, but if I am paying $34 for shrimp and salmon, either the portions need to be larger or the appeal needs to be better...4 shrimp and a 2 oz piece of salty salmon is pathetic. But 4 prawns and sockeye salmon, perhaps. The appearance is that of an upscale restaurant but the execution says otherwise. Our waiter meant well, but he was a little slow to check on us. This place is worth a visit if your options are low, but it's definitely not a place that I would visit on purpose.
We went on a Saturday night (2/10) while visiting Atlanta from out of town. We made reservations Saturday afternoon for 7pm via Open Table. We ordered 2 appetizers, soup, and salad. After awhile we were told appetizer #1 was sold out so we picked something else. Then after another wait we were told appetizer 2 was sold out so we picked something else. Not very happy with the situation. We got a free dessert but really did not need it. Our table was on a walkway toward the restroom so lots of people walking by. Also, there were private seating areas with doors along the walkway and our table was also next to those privater rooms. It was sort of distracting as people came and went into the rooms (opening a door right next to us) and in the room right next to our table the couple inside were taking lots of flash pictures. Overall, not the relaxing evening we were looking forward to.
We arrived around 5:10 PM and our reservation was at 6:30 PM. Could NOT be seated early! Was told we would get a text message when table was ready! Set at the bar area and had a light snack until 6:30 PM. We waited until 6:35 for a text that NEVER came. Thank goodness, I went to the front check-in desk to ask about our table. We were then seated in a very dark area and could hardly see menu!!! We were given bread that was not fully cooked and that was a bad sign!!! Then we were given fruit because the food was taking so long! Fruit was "not" sweet at all!!! Food arrived around 7:35 PM and had a show at 8:00PM at Phillips Arena. FOOD had NO SEASONINGS whatsoever!!! We both ordered the Mix Grill Trio!!! Cheese Mash Potatoes were ok. The SEAFOOD was "BLAND" and the other veggies on the plate were just "awlful"!!UGGG!! It was NOT at all what we expected. We would NOT recommend McCormick's to any of our friends or co-workers! What a let down for our Pre-Valentine Dinner!!!! Cost $82.96
We had table reservations for 6:30 pm but was not seated until 7:10 pm. When we received our meals the entrees were extremely cold. Each order was sent back to have the meal heated. After twenty minutes the waitress returned to explain the plates would be out in 5 minutes. After fifteen minutes passed our food was brought to us and again the food was cold. This is total not acceptable from a 4.5 star restaurant. Because other events where going on downtown the restaurant needs to be aware to employ more staff to handle the crowd overflow.
Even though we had a reservation at 6:15pm we had to wait until 7:44pm to be seated. The waiter showed up and took the order around 7:00pm - The food arrived at 7:38pm after speaking to the manager. I was very disappointing since we had to rush to eat to attend a event at 8pm at Phillips Arena. We arrived late to the event, because of the wait at the restaurant. I myself would not recommend or am planning on returning to this establishment.
We were a large group of 7 and were given a secluded table, which was perfect! We were able to hear and enjoy great conversations before, during and after dinner! The ambiance was perfect and our waitress (I cannot recall her name!) was outstanding ... and this was her first night serving at the restaurant! Wonderful experience from beginning to end!
Food was good. Service started out excellent but that ended up being very slow afterwards. Questioned the waitress about the raw oysters (two options) told her which ones I wanted and upon their arrival, received the the wrong ones. After my complaint, the manager came in advised that they would bring the correct ones which they did, after a while. We were there over an hour and had only received our drinks and appetizer. Very disappointed with the cost of the special. The waitress outlined what the specials were, however, she failed to mention that each individual item included on the plate was à la carte. As a result the overall cost was much more than anticipated and very disappointing.
I had a 12:30PM reservation that was confirmed both by the restaurant two days prior and me the day before.
I arrived 10 minutes before the appointed reservation. My guest arrived 5 minutes before the reserved time. We did not get seated until 35 minutes after the reserved time. To add to my disappointment, the noise level was so high the we could not hold a civil conversation.
McCormick and Schmick's Atlanta will not see me again.
